£1813 DVLA Fine for No Tax

I agree, this penalty is far worse than other deliberate crimes. After all, I have caused nobody other than the DVLA an inconvenience. If they bothered to take a few more details they could setup an automated emailing system in a heartbeat, that way they can just go ahead and say, "we are waiting for your money" where ever you live. Business's get reminders ALL the time. This is 2016, post is not the most convenient way to send a message, but they are banking on it failing so they can make more revenue. I don't care that they have no obligation to send out reminders, it's a human courtesy. They are making money off all our backs. All your driver details have been sold off by DVLA & you don't even get a cut.
For those on here that think it's a just fine, you are the minority. This method of applying the law could potentially leave people homeless if they are able to keep adding on fines without your knowledge. If you think i'm exaggerating then have a look just what's going on today. I very much doubt you would "take it on the chin" if he you were one of those in the link below.

I agree that the fines you are being asked to pay are disproportionate, and I cant't imagine that any court would treat these as 5 separate offences.
However, it's not a question of "inconvenience" to DVLA: they are simply trying to collect the tax which you have evaded/avoided'.
Also, DVLA are not "making money off all our backs". They are simply trying to collect the taxes agreed by parliament on our behalf.0 -
They would not be 'Fines' from the DVLA, they normally make 'out of court settlement offers' which would explain the separate matters.
If dealt with at court they may be combined and heard as one case.0 -

In the absence of anyone in here having any bright ideas for getting out of your multiple fines, I think you should maybe goto court with a lawyer and plead for mercy.0 -
Hi, just wondering what was the outcome of this issue please?0

Don't suppose anyone knows the outcome of this? Wife facing almost exact same scenario but slightly more annoying in that she is facing multiple fines for 'unpaid' Road tax on an electric car. As you may know electric cars don't pay any road tax - but they still have to be registered for road tax.0

Guessing they paid up or spent a a lot on legal fees trying to fight it?

It will not be for unpaid road tax, it will be for an unlicensed motor vehicle.
Electric vehicles are not liable for vehicle excise duty, but they are required to be licensed.0 -

If OP followed some of the advice on here they'll either be wondering why on earth they tried for an IVA through CAB or submitted an N245 form on the fines. Goes to show why some advice topics are best just to ring CAB or NDL about...0 -
