All I can say is sometimes we find ourselves in a long dark tunnel and although we can't see the light at the end, we just have to trust that it's there and keep plodding towards it.
The house is fine. I've finally got it clean and tidy. It is cold though, the boiler is useless, the gas fire is ancient and inefficient and there's hardly any insulation. I can't do much about that the insulation until next year other than draft proofing, thick curtains and rugs. I'll just have to accept that I will have large heating bills this winter. As you probably know cold will only make fibro worse so I will just have to try and keep the house warm and fork out for heating the street. :rotfl:
I'm having a new boiler in a couple of weeks so that should help.
Anyway sending you hugs. Take care, look after yourself.
I'm still very down, but got the docs on Thurs"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

I read about it on Mumsnet of all places. There are some videos on YouTube explaining about it, there are quite a few free videos - GuptaProgramme.

I have been keeping a journal...well sort of it's a bit hit and miss but i think it seems to help.
The other big one was writing my memoirs. Sounds very grand. :rotfl: I've just finished. And yes it might sound a bit pretentious but just writing everything down, warts and all, seemed to get so much "gunk" out of my head.
It has been cathartic and liberating.
Getting rid of all that emotional backage seems to have freed my mind so I can finally start to think about my future. Pain wise definitely an improvement as long as I pace myself and don't get overtired. A lot seems to depend on whether or not I get a good nights sleep. Writing a journal seems to help me sleep better.
Neither of us now look at negatives but at progress . In that way the past isn't relevant in our lives now and is over and done . It may not always work perfectly in future but dd has the tools in the tool box now to cope if the going gets tough . Wobbles are very rare and she works her way through them in minutes rather than the old automatic meltdowns .
You had a tough time but really the only way is forward and away from the hurt and anger of the past . The bad times can't be changed but letting it rule the present means it still has power of the present .
I think you've worked hard to free yourself of that control over your life now and as they say " The only way is up "

Candy I'm sorry you aren't feeling too good . Not sure if you already do it but it's worth writing down all you're struggling with and handing it to the GP at the appointment . You can give a clear picture of the difficulties and things that need sorting by doing that it speeds things up and means you don't suddenly remember something you forgot to mention afterwards . Not long until Thursday so hang in there , you're in our thoughts .
At least the boiler should be installed soon LL . I've no idea what your plan is re replacing the old gas fire . If you have a proper flue and it's in the budget a log or multi burner stove is a good solution in a cold house and comes into it's own during power cuts for making hot drinks and heating food . They are expensive though . There are some very efficient and powerful gas fires on the market nowadays . This house is a 70s new build and has one of those narrow pre cast flues so no stove or open fire for that . Last gas fire I bought was suitable fot those flues and pretty powerful . They don't seem to make so many of that type now .
I have heavy lined winter curtains but add in thermal blackout curtains in the autumn . They just hook on to the headers although there's a version for ring or tab too . We have very large wide windows and they do a good job keeping the cold at bay . They were from Dunelm a few years ago and at the top price band . I've no idea if they still sell that particular pair but they've been worth the cost .
OBL I find it's important to let comments from others re pulling yourself together and similar to go in one ear and out the other . It doesn't work like that .

But onwards and upwards, we have a new house guest, a Siberian Husky named Mishka. She's only 16 months old, and already on her 2nd home. However, she's now with her Forever Family - they have previous experience with Huskies and know what they're doing with her. She's here for a total of 6 nights, and she's a sweet dog, walks amazingly well with the mobility buggy, and is very vocal!
I'm also absolutely flat broke, having bitten the bullet and decided to replace our ancient and venerable duvet and pillows. Bread and scrape for my dins for the rest of the month then....It'll be worth it; I think we shall both sleep, or at least rest, better, as I've gone for a single duvet each, rather than one double. It also means I can have a lighter weight one than Mr Wolf, as currently I lie there and swelter at night, while he's just comfortably warm.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Candy I can't work out if you were seeing the new Dr today or if you meant the appointment was moved again . I have had you in mind today and if you saw him I hope he's been helpful and you feel listened to .
Wolfy you've a lot to get to grips with so it's not unusual to not feel like talking about it . There's a lot to learn with these conditions and of course you need to work around your own disabilities .
We've had to spend a bit after this month of being ill . Store cupboards took a hit as we went for quick and easy options . I usually add to them on a regular basis but shopping has been erratic to say the least . Luckily winter bedding is ok . I picked up another couple of hot water bottles to add to the stash . Two of the meds that were changed this year a more effective version of the pill for dds pcos and the magic Mirtazipine have meant dd has outgrown her warm coats , jackets and cardigans . She knew it was a side effect but it seems to have happened over the past month . She discussed it with our GP and in view of her previous history is not worrying and stressing . She's decided to look at her eating , there's been some comfort eating during all the flares and viruses so she has a plan to get back to healthy meals .
I think it will be an emergency coat for now . She's good at finding bargains in the charity shops so is keen to try that first .
Mishka sounds lovely and very well behaved . I'm glad she has a loving 2nd home . Many people don't seem to research various breeds of dogs first and then the poor thing needs rehoming .
I know you both prefer to stay as independent as possible but if you haven't already it could be worth doing an online benefits check to see if there is anything applicable to Mr Wolf . The costs do mount up .
It's really cold here now and set to get much colder so take care everyone . Stay warm as much as possible .
