Onebrokelady wrote: »Brilliant news:A I noticed an improvement in my symptoms after about a week and that's even before doing the proper work, they gave a few free demos on the free trial so I tried them and they seemed to help, they also have a thing about writing down your thoughts and experiences which I haven't tried yet but I can see how it would help,I've bought myself an A4 book to write in but haven't written anything yet,I have my diary on here where I'm have a regular winge about life in general and that has also helped me a lot,I tend to bottle things up and getting things out in the open makes a difference to me
I know stress doesn't help as over the last couple of weeks I've been really stressed out about money and I've noticed little symptoms creeping back in so time for some stress relief I think
It sounds very similar to what I've been doing.
That was what he said to do before the programme started. I bought a day to view diary and had to write down all my negative thoughts daily. One list of negative thoughts related to my fibromyalgia symptoms and one list for anything else. Man, I had a lot of them!0 -

I think that being able to express our difficulties to those who truly empathise and understand what it is like, is truly fundamental to our wellbeing. Often it's just what we need to get back to life and feel supported.
I am another who can only thank Pollyanna for her support. I always get a warm feeling when I read her posts.
So Spain is still warm although the weather is now becoming changeable. My fibro has reared its ugly head as we get more rain and thunderstorms. My friend who I am staying with has joked I could be a weather vane. I have been able to swim every day which has been wonderful but yesterday I did too much in the cold water and I am suffering today.
I will be on my own again from next week until mid March. I am definitely improving but it is so so slow. I still don't like going out but I can do it now, well a little anyway. The heat has definitely helped reduce the fibro symptoms.
I have also started to lose weight which is long overdue. I think it is one of those things that has to be the right time for you to succeed. I hate to admit I had reached 17 stone but since the 1st I have lost quite a lot of weight.
I have IBS and Bile Acid Malabsorption as well. I have decided to follow a diet focusing on reducing "diet" versions of products so no more diet drinks and foods using artificially sweetening or additives.
The change has been marvellous. I used to drink at least two litres of diet drink, now I drink sparkling water and I haven't really missed it all. Focus is now on real food and it has reawakened my interest in cooking too. Also I am concentrating on portion size too.
What is clear is that not one "cure" for any of us. We have to become our own experts so we can make conditions as good as they can be for ourselves. It is fascinating and thought provoking to read of other solutions people have found.
So greetings from Spain, gentle best wishes
Pauline
It is important to be able to engage with people who understand the frustrations and challenges of chronic ill health whether physical or mental . Those who think we can just pull ourselves together haven't any insight into the situation . I don't think there's anyone here who wouldn't like a magic wand to change the situation .
It will probably do you the world of good Pauline spending this time in Spain far from the madding crowd . Many people pay a lot of money on retreats , spas etc . This is your time to get back to "you" and find yourself . A bit like Shirley Valentine minus the greek :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

CandyI hope you managed to get some sleep and can get help from the new Doc . I had a look at our practice website and found we also have a Nurse Clinician who can diagnose and treat - not sure exactly what but will ask Superdoc when we next see him .
I am following your posts Wednesday and OBLs As I said recently there is a lot of science involved in pain and the various effects both physically and emotionally .
I have to admit both the costs of the EMDR and Brain Training are way beyond our budget . We're lucky we both manage pain and frustration fairly well . If dd hadn't got this Holistic deal with everything plan no doubt we'd still have been searching for help .
Things are better for her than they've ever been . In the past any therapy has involved identifying and keeping a diary of all the negatives which over the years just highlighted to her how limited her life and choices were compared to her older siblings . Filling in the DWP forms just reinforced those feelings .
The counselling for both living with disability and for the BPD are focused on challenging the embedded fears and anxieties of the past and changing the instant response to positive . She has charts and diaries for everything to physio and we can see the progress day by day .
She has to focus on the good things such as finding her love of photography again . Everyday the good is recorded rather than negative things which are becoming rarer with time .
I wish you both well we all find our own path .

I agree too that focusing on the negative doesn't really help anyone and you are much better trying to focus on the positives no matter how fleeting they might be,it's sometimes the hardest thing in the world to do though isn't it,if it was as easy as just pulling ourselves together we would have cure ourselves by now,no one would actively choose to live like this
I have a friend who means well but is always suggesting that I just need to get out more or do more of this or some other thing and she is always saying oh it's probably the weather we all feel a bit rubbish in the winter,it drives me nuts ,if only it were that simpleOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1200 -

There was a sheet in the workbook for negative thoughts about symptoms and I had to write it all out again and it takes up three A4 sides of paper!
I was quite shocked actually as I didn't realise my mind was so cluttered and negative. Keeping the thoughts diary made me notice that I was waking up in a really bad mood most days and that is when I was the most stiff and in pain.2025 GOALS

Sounds very interesting, Wednesday.
I have been keeping a journal...well sort of it's a bit hit and miss but i think it seems to help.
The other big one was writing my memoirs. Sounds very grand. :rotfl: I've just finished. And yes it might sound a bit pretentious but just writing everything down, warts and all, seemed to get so much "gunk" out of my head.
It has been cathartic and liberating.
Getting rid of all that emotional backage seems to have freed my mind so I can finally start to think about my future. Pain wise definitely an improvement as long as I pace myself and don't get overtired. A lot seems to depend on whether or not I get a good nights sleep. Writing a journal seems to help me sleep better.0 -

Candy....more to the point how are you sweetheart. You are having such a rough time I scarce know what to say. I hope you get the help and support you need.
All I can say is sometimes we find ourselves in a long dark tunnel and although we can't see the light at the end, we just have to trust that it's there and keep plodding towards it.
The house is fine. I've finally got it clean and tidy. It is cold though, the boiler is useless, the gas fire is ancient and inefficient and there's hardly any insulation. I can't do much about that the insulation until next year other than draft proofing, thick curtains and rugs. I'll just have to accept that I will have large heating bills this winter. As you probably know cold will only make fibro worse so I will just have to try and keep the house warm and fork out for heating the street. :rotfl:
I'm having a new boiler in a couple of weeks so that should help.
Anyway sending you hugs. Take care, look after yourself.0
