  • Good morning all , I haven't been blown to Oz but it was a wild and windy night . Power out for a couple of hours yesterday evening but we're used to that in bad weather .
I hope none here had any problems . We are now being told Storm Brian could be on the way . Very Monty Python!

Welcome back to LL It sounds as though this cruise was much more relaxed and you were able to enjoy yourself without fretting . I shall be "watching this space " and am happy you can now see a way forward whether this happens or not .
It seems the pain pen isn't necessary if the tiger balm is helping . One less thing to carry around . Glad the steroid injection kept working for you .

LW Do you have some sort of voice recording device among the tech stuff . It could save the fingers when you are making copious notes . The course sounds really interesting , although you sense various things it's good to have the reasoning to read through .
Did you ever manage to track down a basic printer ? I'm still trying to make my mind up and would welcome feedback if you got one .
I keep wondering if the fishermans rib cardie is finished yet , mind you you've had lots of guests to amuse so maybe not .

Wednesday I hope the pain has subsided now . Thankfully those days are over for me but I can remember those cramping pains and don't miss them at all . Enjoy your day out . It sounds as though the therapy is helpful if draining . It can be exhausting but worth it if it helps .

Lovely to see caronc here . Remember you're the glass half full girl .It is devastating to learn things wont improve but as you say it's better to have an honest opinion than to keep trying different things . You have the double whammy of early retirement too so much to work through . I believe you'll get there as you keep on adjusting and find the new norm .

Well done on the flu jab Elona . DD never has a mark . I think her body is just very used to regular needles so doesn't bother .
Hope all was well in Tadcaster yesterday . I was remembering when the bridge went .

It's surprising how many here have PA , I may be wrong but I think AOT does too . At least you can discuss the in and outs here .

It's much cooler but sunny here today . Still windy but our normal rather than the very strong ones over the last day and night . I have some energy now so think I'm over the bronchitis . House has been pretty much doing the bare essentials over the last two weeks but as I'm out all day tomorrow and Friday I'll get stuck in at the weekend .
    Take care all

  • Sorry Tink I was typing as you were posting . Have you had any sort of counselling at all since the MS diagnosis . It is a lot to come to terms with especially with a young family and a job . It isn't acceptable for your concerns to be brushed aside . Do you always see the same GP or is there another in the practice you could see?
By all means speak to your nurse but you should have understanding and support from your doctor . This situation makes me very angry , do they think you're wonderwoman ?
It is possible to self refer for some counselling but it's a bit of a pick and mix.
If you haven't already done so have a look on the websites of the UK MS charities and see what advice they give on coping and counselling . Do not beat yourself up about the house and struggling . You are ill love and trying to do the impossible without the coping tools your doctor should help you access .
Lie down and rest for a bit .

  • You remembered correctly Polly, I do indeed have PA and am trying to get my GP to increase the injection to 8 instead of 12 weekly. I've never noticed the injection being more painful than many others Wednesday so don't be put off.
Polly, hope you and DD are doing better now.
I'm another one feeling battered and bruised as had nasty fall one night last week. Could have been funny if filmed. Ended up wedged between bottom of bed and chest of drawers. Scratches, scrapes and many bruises plus bruised ribs as landed awkwardly across a partly open drawer (Thought might have broken a rib but luckily not this time).
Took ages to get sorted as care call button at top of bed while I was at bottom.
LL glad you had such a good time and thanks for info on pain pen. I've looked at them a few times.
Elona, when I first started getting the flu jab many moons ago it always came up in a big red lump (a sign my immune system was pretty good according to GP) but now it leaves almost no trace at all! My immune system is pretty whacked these days. Glad yours appears to be more reactive.

Gosh there are a lot of us with PA on here, I didn't realise
WEDNESDAY if your doc thinks you need jabs , then definitely get them otherwise if left untreated it can be very serious :(
Google Sally Pacholok, she has written books, and there was even a film made about her research into PA and B12 deficiency 😊
LW can you send me the link for the dog training course please? Xx

It's both amazing that so many of us self inject, and outrageous that we have to, as years ago jabs were given at least monthly. Glad you've no lasting damage hun xx
OMG I hope I never have to have any regular injections; I faint at just the sight of a needle! We've looked after diabetic dogs who needed insulin, and Mr LW had to administer it for both of them, I simply couldn't do it.
LW Do you have some sort of voice recording device among the tech stuff . It could save the fingers when you are making copious notes .
I've considered Dragon software, but would feel embarrassed talking out loud with Mr LW trying to read/look at the Telegraph Online/do his emails in the same room.

The course sounds really interesting , although you sense various things it's good to have the reasoning to read through .
Did you ever manage to track down a basic printer ? I'm still trying to make my mind up and would welcome feedback if you got one .
We got a HP DeskJet 2132 in the end - it was £20 in @rgos; and it does what we need. It has a built-in scanner too, but I haven't investigated that yet.

I keep wondering if the fishermans rib cardie is finished yet , mind you you've had lots of guests to amuse so maybe not .
Um..... no :whistle:it's still not finished. I got onto the button band and nearly lost the will to live! I keep promising myself to get on and finish it - winter approacheth after all - but the cross stitch of the canals in Brugge turned out to be more enticing. :D

I will try and find the email - it was in the newsletter from the dogsitting company which is saved on the netbook which is currently playing up (I only have the URL for the Student Portal saved in favourites on here). Meantime, it's offered by 0plex Careers and is called Canine Behaviour Training Course if that helps.

    ETA http://www.oplexcareers.com/course/canine-behaviour-training-course/
This is it - when I signed up it was on special offer at < £25 :money:

I have to go and get ready to go out now; Mr LW wants to see the new Blade Runner film. I'd just as soon not go, but he's so good to me, and it won't hurt me (much) to put my big girl knickers on and accompany him (he won't goon his own). :o

I am going to order an enormous roll of bubblewrap and start rolling it around all who are tripping nad falling left , right and centre . I was thinking last night we should start our own Arnica production line .

Now you too have joined the fallen AOT. I have you aren't in much discomfort now and the Dr increases the injection . I think we reach a point where we know ourselves best . Lucky you had the call button even if it was hard to get to .
I imagine you are on an immune suppressant drug like DD as that usually figures with PsA both we and the Dr think it stops the flu injection reaction many feel .

It makes me laugh when people mention my memory . Fuds spoke of my top notch memory recently on another thread and I laughed out loud . I can remember the past but ask me where I put something an hour ago and it's a total blank .

Does this mean you are about to embark on doggy training for the young one candy ? I second your advice to Wednesday re the jab .
Apart from some lows years ago I'm now borderline on the bloods and managing with supplements . So I can merrily advise all to get jabbed if the Dr recommends .

Hope you're ok Cranky . We took a bit of a pasting here last night but nothing too bad . I found the humidity worse and today is cooler much less windy and we had a bit of sun earlier .

Take care all and no falling over . I may order those lead weighted divers boots for those so inclined .

Hello Polly, I'm OK thanks. My sister in Ireland has no power and is cooking on the camping stove that I made her buy in the summer. I had to take migralieve yesterday as I felt very strange about 9:30am - I put it down to a change in atmospheric pressure and took them as a precaution.

The hospital had a community nurse who is on a secondment look at my leg last week as community nurses are more familiar with injuries that need frequent dressing changes. He suggested something totally different to what was being done and so far it seems to be working. The area of necrotic tissue seems slightly smaller so fingers crossed I may be finally recovering. The new approach doesn't cause any damage to the healthy skin on my leg either.

Sorry this is just a quick post - I have form tutor evening for the HT in 40 minutes and I have to call in to the doctors on the way to ask for a repeat prescription of the dressing for my leg.

Look after yourselves all of you.

So glad the new treatment seems to be working well without impacting on the surrounding area Cranky. That atmospheric pressure is literally a pain , it makes me headachy, nauseous and a bit dizzy . It's been much cooler today but that flippin humidity is starting again now . Take care both you and your young man .

Hi everyone, Polly I am sorry that you both have been so poorly, fingers crossed that you will have a good spell from now on.

Another one here to joint the band of "fallers". The Sunday before last I managed to fall very heavily from my bicycle, won't go into detail too wordy, but no-one else involved and probably caused by brain fog.

I managed to batter and bruise myself quite badly, but no broken bones thank goodness. I am recovering quite well, but slowly, session with my Osteopath this morning helped and will need to see her again next Tuesday as I have bruised the shoulder joint as well as soft tissue and twanged a few muscles from ribs to ankle too. When we were young my mother always used to say that there was no point in being awkward if you don't show it:rotfl::rotfl:

Dearest dog has been quite poorly too, 3 trips to Vets in 4 days, it seemed that she had been bitten by a cat and had a nasty infection, she is fine and dandy now. DOH has been a star looking after us both and willingly changed his plans as necessary to get us to our medical appointments etc:D

Hugs, spoons and caring vibes to all that need some, apologies for not mentioning anyone by name, hopefully I can keep up a bit better from now on.:)
