Vent: HGV Drivers who 'block' dual carriageways

Options
I'm sick of the muppets in HGVS who can do 59.1 MPH and insist upon overtaking their colleague who can only do 59.0 MPH.

It's actually the idiot on the inside lane that's the worst...they only have to slow down for a few seconds to let the other one get past and pull in....but oh no they insist upon sitting side by side for several miles!!!

After they eventually pass each other and I can get past, I sometimes feel like pulling in front of them and slowing down to 50 to slow them down....but that would be petty, wouldn't it???

I always wondered why they do this?!!
I thought maybe they were caught in some hgv vortex /Bermuda Triangle type thingy.
  • i Agree they are a pain in the butt, especially when they just pull out on you, giving you about a millisecond to react.

The ones you see on phones are disgrace and should be banned for life from driving a HGV.

    Why cant people comprehend roads?

Other people are on them for other purposes. They are not solely for your needs. Grow up and learn to share. Consider allowing more time for journeys.

Get Lorries off the road and onto there own 1 lane road, this would make them so much safer.

Banning cars on the road would also make it so much safer, you talk nonsense.

Or simply restrict HGV's to lane 1 where an overtaking manoeuvre such as that described by the OP will cause congestion e.g. on inclines. There used to be areas of the M5 towards Bristol that had such restricitions, not sure if they still do.

I remember being in a huge queue that built up as a Sainsburys HGV attempted to overtake another HGV for about 10 miles on the A92, very frustrating and completely pointless in terms of the time he would have saved on his journey.

Im not meaning to be rude but you are talking nonsense.

Lorries are inherently safe, you could argue drivers arent, i would agree but the vehicle is safe.

Building an entirely separate road for the use of lorries will also have environmental consequences (ie cement/concrete is proper nasty) which will increase the damage caused to people. Ie less safe. And there will still be accidents.

See what i mean, what your saying does not make sense, has no meaning and would be foolish. Ie the definition of nonsense. Im just disagreeing with you and using a word i believe accurately describes your suggestion. Maybe i could have not said it but i wouldve still felt compelled to disagree. Ill take suggestions as to how i couldve done that without you thinking i was being rude?

Incidentally i think it rude that you suggest that others should not be able to share the road with you.
