E-on/ MSE Fixed 1 Year Collective Sept 2015 - Stay or wait?

I'm off. Didn't fancy moving to British Gas thanks to previous poor service so I found that using different suppliers for gas and electricity would give me the same saving as the new BG tariff. I still don't understand why Eon didn't try harder to keep all their customers - does it really make economic sense to have people switching all the time?0

Morning Logen and thank you for your comments.
I can definitely confirm your feedback has been passed on along with that from others on this and related MSE threads. I'll continue to do this and acknowledge individual posts as soon as I can.
Sorry I'm a bit late acknowledging yours Logen. I've been putting together all the comments on this and other threads.

What was the reaction? Ashen faces or robust (if somewhat nervous) laughter?
Do tell!
One thing I hope sincerely that you’ll feed back to the highest level within E.ON is something I posted to Helena, this morning.
One point I was hoping to make to Malc before he took the lift to the elevated heights of the gods of E.ON on his mission to explain to them the degree to which E.ON has shot itself in the foot with this one is that when SSE pulled the same stroke last month and I exposed it HERE there was not the slightest murmur of dissent. It was, it seems, the type of deceitful tactic that people might expect from SEE.
Perhaps it led E.ON to believe that it could do the same thing and get away with it...
What is really significant – and should be brought to the attention of E.ON’s directors – is that when E.ON decided to pull the same stroke this week it provoked, by contrast, an absolute uproar of outrage and dismay.
That’s how much goodwill and support E.ON had earned and enjoyed – but E.ON has now thrown it all away.
I hope you'll pass that one on to Malc for upward transmission.
PS. Any progress on the "Sharapova" E.ON Rewards scheme yet?0 -

Thanks for replying...as always.
It is disappointing that I won't be able to stay with EOn as the cheapest tariff will be approx £16 per month more. I have been hanging on hoping the Eon would be included in the "Switch" as I have had no problems, like the website and you and Helena are always there politely answering the same questions we all ask.
We are yelled at from all directions to switch, switch and switch but sometimes life gets in the way and I don't always have the time or inclination to be constantly monitoring everything.
It would have been nice not to have to bother switching supplier but hey ho its not the end of the world is it.
Sorry to lose you littlemissbossy and thanks for the kind words. They're appreciated by both of us. Glad you liked the website too.

What happens if I tell Uswitch a complete set of fibs and pretend to be a BG customer, then sign up to the Eon V1 deal? Will that work?
Afterall it's not a bigger fib than Eon tell me the best deal is... when they offer something cheaper to new customers
Hello Pete.
Thought I'd explain what happens when we receive applications to switch to us through price comparison sites. The address is matched with the meter serial numbers and the unique admin numbers held for each UK property. This would flag the property as already supplied by us and the request would be rejected.
Hope this explains.

Another lost E.ON customer here, quite happy with the service, and would have been happy with the very small price increase to move to the new E.ON Saver Fixed 1 Year version 1, avoiding any hassle from switching, but hey ho, obviously current customers are not a priority for E.ON.
And, yes I have studiously looked out for better deals in the last 12 months, but for me, nothing that E.ON has put out beat the USwitch Oct 15 deal I was on.
Sorry to lose you thozza but glad you've been happy with the service. As above, I've sent your comments through to senior management. Thank you for your feedback, it's really useful.

Malc, another customer to add to the exit pile! Like most on here, the mse eon fix is now coming to its end. However with no competitive eon tariff to switch to, were not going to stick around on the standard variable rate. Agree with other comments, nice website and good customer service, so maybe in a few years down the line we could be back! Until then, or unless a new tariff comes out soon, au revoir!0

Newaccount wrote: »Hi Malc,
Have come to the end of my 12 month switch (Ends on Thursday) & have started a switch.
I phoned eon to make sure they would keep me on my current tariff for 20 days following expiry of my fix (I am in the process of switching providers).
Problem is they don't know what im talking about:( They said I would be put on their normal tariff when the expiry date comes on Thursday.
Please could you look into this for me to make sure I am kept on my old tariff for the next 3 weeks.
Hello Newaccount and sorry our advisor wasn't able to explain what happens with the Price Protection window. I'll try and do a bit better.
The window kicks in when fixed term contracts near the end. It's open 49 calendar days before the tariff ends until 20 working days after. During this time and provided we're told, we'll make sure you're protected against any price changes that aren't in your favour whilst a change of supplier goes through. We'll work out which prices are cheapest. Either the existing ones or the best variable tariff available (at the moment this is Energy Plan) and charge these up until the supply end date.
Your tariff will end at the set date (today) and we'll automatically transfer you to Energy Plan. This is because your tariff is no longer available and Energy Plan is our only existing non-contracted product. Don't worry, once the switch has gone through, your final bill will be based on the cheaper of the two prices, your old tariff or Energy Plan. Invariably this will be your old tariff. This is done automatically as part of the change of supply journey. Advisors aren't able to interfere with this.
Sorry to lose you Newaccount and hope this explains what happens with price protection. Please let me know if you've any further concerns. Happy to help.

I am another one who will be off.
Really fed up with all this.0 -
Money talks! Like many previously loyal EON customers, I'm off to join a rival. Shame on you EON not showing us any loyalty!0
-
Add at least another one to the leaving list, I'll regretfully be moving to British Gas and will advise family members with eon to leave to.0
