Although the BG tariff is marginally more expensive by £1 a month, the exit fee from Eon wouldn't be worth it. I would have switched to the new Eon tariff though, even if slightly more expensive. Now, I feel that I'll move away from Eon come February, thanks to their lack of customer loyalty.
E.on are no different to any other company in terms of loyalty. It's all about money and this time E.on obviously couldn't compete.
It's a game of swings and roundabouts. Time to move on.Fred - Where's your get up and go?

Switched just now from EON to SSE. Both CEC and Uswitch have the SSE 1 year fixed v8 as the cheapest for me, aside from Npower but I have read too many horror stories about them. That deal is not on SSE website so available only via comparison sites. But then I tried Energyhelpline site and there is an even cheaper one called SSE Exclusive 1 year fixed - again not on the SSE website. Its within a few quid of the EON collective thats coming to an end. if you go via Quidco to Energyhelpline then there is also a bit of cashback.0

As the switch could take longer (anything up to 6 weeks) or BG not contact EON in this time frame, then I have a problem. When I logged into my EON account, I noticed that comparison estimates (I have been moved to EON Energy Plan) seem to have altered over past few days. I dug a bit deeper, only to discover that I have been put on Economy Seven. Although I have lived here for 15 years, I have never had Economy Seven and have always provided 2 metre readings which are added together for daytime rate. I have been doing this for several years - with EON.
I phoned EON and asked why they had done this and said I wanted to be on 'normal' rate but was told I would have to apply to switch! The advisor spoke to her supervisor who said it was not necessary because it was such a short time frame. I suggested they just amended my account, but got nowhere and I felt I was given the brush off.
Hopefully,my switch to BG will be quick, but if not, I do not see why I should be paying higher electricity charges. I cannot even take advantage of Economy 7 hours because I live in a flat and there is no way I can run washing machine, dishwasher etc at night. As I am retired, most of my usage is during normal daytime hours.
Hello Raine E Day and sorry for the late reply.
You should be okay as it sounds as though you're still inside the Price Protection window. This kicks in when fixed term contracts near the end. It's open 49 calendar days before the tariff ends until 20 working days after. During this time and provided we're told, we'll make sure you're protected against any price changes that aren't in your favour whilst a change of supplier goes through. Exit fees also don't apply whilst inside this window.
As your fixed E.ON tariff ended on 9 September, your new supplier should have enough time to apply for your account whilst you're still inside the window. Switches usually take about two and half weeks. This is until they start supplying but, provided we've received the loss notification from them within the window, you should be okay. Prices will be protected through to the supply end date.
I suspect you've been put on our standard Energy Plan because your fixed contact has ended and we hadn't heard from you or your preferred supplier. Don't worry, if all goes as above, your final bill will be based on the cheaper prices. This is something that'll happen separately once the switch has gone through. It's not something a general advisor would be involved with.
Hope this explains Raine E Day.

Sorry for the late reply greatgimpo. I've forwarded your comments on to the right people here at E.ON. As above, can't promise anything but I can tell you they're now very much aware of the feelings on this Forum about our new tariffs.

Almost hit the button to change to SSE, at a rate of 10.269/kWh and 20.28/day standing with about a tenner cashback. Think I should hang about a bit, and see what transpires.0

Malc, I have been happy with EON but switched today to SSE because of no competitive deal for existing customers. If Eon brings out a competitive deal for existing customers within my 14 day cooling period then I would be more than happy to stay.0

Thank you - I do understand about price protection period and that I am on Standard Energy plan pending switch to BG. What I do not understand is why I have been put on Economy 7? If the switch takes longer than next 18 days I will be charged at that rate. As stated in my posts, I have been with EON for a long time and there have been two electric metres for years. I have never been on this. Why now? It is clearly not the cheapest for me as I have to use all appliances during daytime as I live in a flat. As indicated in my post, I got no joy from contacting EON yesterday. It's all very well assuming the switch will be carried out in a timely manner, but things go wrong and I do not want to be lumbered with this higher rate. I do not see why my account cannot be amended.“Rain drops are not the ones who bring the clouds.”0 -
I am with EON. Why no loyalty to customers who have shown faith in you?In addition to the lack of loyalty being shown by EON, in my renewal letter it says the cheapest tariff for me is the EON EnergyPlan (i.e. their basic rate) yet it is clearly obvious to me that the fixed 2 year v9 is the cheapest. Not pleased EON. Show some loyalty.Just sent off my "email of disappointment" to EON. Its such a short sighted and stupid way of treating customers. And not putting it on their website is just a sneaky way of trying to hide it from existing customers, and also just allowing comparison sites to sign people up is just a way of making sure their sales people don't have to deal with existing customers trying to swap to it. Poor.
Fully take your points Devonjem and have fed these back as above. Thank you, too, for emailing your comments. This will reinforce these sentiments.
On the renewal letter, we're not allowed to put customers on to contracted products like the Fixed 2 Year version 9 without their permission. We advise they'll go onto our standard Energy Plan (currently our only non-contracted tariff) if we don't hear from them by the tariff end date.
You're right, we want to make these new 'Saver' tariffs as competitive as possible so have decided to offer them exclusively through price comparison sites. Not being available through our normal sales channels, including the website, helps with this.

The problem is that you’re offering them exclusively through price comparison sites to everyone who isn’t an existing E.ON customer. That’s what’s causing the howls of pain and protest.0 -
That's all well and good Malc but what does EON expect existing customers to do - get put on to expensive standard rates in the hope EON will launch a new tariff which existing customers can move to? Of course most will not want to lose money waiting for EON. If EON have a plan then launch it now because collectives are ending now and people cant wait for EON.Switched just now from EON to SSE. Sorry Devonjem. Think I was still writing when you posted again.
To be honest, I don't know of any other tariffs being launched by us other than those that have appeared today. As promised, I've spoken personally to those in charge and let them know the sentiments of the Forum.
Fully understand why you and others are moving away. Glad, though, we've looked after you whilst you were with us.
