Hi All
Just back from a lovely morning out doing bits. We had another bash at Geocaching and this time found 3thanks again to Luckypenny for the suggestion.
A couple of small things for today
* Needed new daps for DS. Found a pair for only £3.50
* DS fancied chinese for dinner but I suggested fakeaway and we bought a frozen rack of ribs and some glazed chicken wings instead. I will do that with rice and salad.
* We came home for lunch instead of giving in to McD cravings, hummmm you can sense a theme cant you today
Just making a cuppa and having 10 mins rest now.

Afternoon all
Pouring with rain today, which has ruined the first day of a nice local weekend eventBut I suppose it will do the garden good at least, and save me having to water! Going out for a meal tonight with my bro and his partner who are staying the weekend in a nearby town. I felt a bit mean not asking them to stay here, but the spare room is currently full of my sales stuff.... and the 3' twin beds up there, plus the 2 flights of stairs would be difficult for her in any case, as she is a 'larger lady' (in her words). Anyway, we had them round for dinner last night and are going out with them tonight, so are doing our bit. I expect they are spending the day in and out of betting shops and pubs, which is by all accounts how they usually spend their weekends  Each to their own.... no doubt we will hear all about it later.
My list for today, such as it is:
Used up a rubbery apple with my breakfast cereal and yogurt - probably counteracted the saving by dropping the yogurt pot and splashing it all over the floor and the fridge freezer
Packed and posted 3 ebay items
Walked to post office for free exercise, OH came with me and helped me with the parcels as he needed to get some passport photos done, and the booth thing is in the post office. Managed to get there and back before it rained
Bought a loaf of bread while out, but nothing else
Used out own HG tomatoes and cucumber in lunchtime sandwiches
Picked another colander full of tomatoes
Load of business paperwork
Put yesterday's partly dried washing on the airer to finish off
Ugh, hope this rain clears soon - it feels really cold today0 -
Sorted out the fridge and the veg box and made cheese and potato pie for dinner using up some elderly potatoes and onions and odds and ends of cheese, Topped it with slices from a couple of salad tomatoes which were going past their best.
Made a note to look out for sacks of carrots, onions, parsnips and potatoes. I'm lucky that I can store these over the winter and with 25k of potatoes for £6.50 10K of onions for £4,00 and 25K of carrots or parsnips for £3 it saves a bomb over the winter and I always have the makings of a soup or stew or veg roast ( the carrots and parsnips are intended for stock feed and are all shapes and sizes but perfectly fine)
Added two more £2 coins to the pot, only been saving them for a couple of weeks and there's already £14 in there. Plus the 5P and coppers pots are both full so I shall get those banked as soon as I can get into a branch with a coin counting/ paying in machine ( my local branch doesn't have one). In the meantime I've started another two pots.
Made best use of a rainy afternoon by going through the accounts and updating the spreadsheet.. then did a little dance round the kitchen.0 -
Well today it has rained non stop. Hope the weather is better for you and your camping DNMS
Ally look after yourself.
Bagpuss Thank you for mentioning the Quentin Blake exhibition, I am going to look into us visiting the area for a few days if we can fit it in & afford it. Does anybody have any suggestions of things to do in and around Cardiff with 2 children which is free or low cost?
Today has been about tidying the children's bedrooms. Dd's was disgusting and she couldn't see where to start, so we decided one of us would help her for 20 minutes, then 20 minutes by herself and if she had worked for that 20 minutes she would get the next 20 minutes off and then repeat with the other parent. Ds decided he would like help too even though his room was nowhere near as bad and he is a lot more capable, this did mean me and OH got less done round the house but both their rooms are greatly improved. After lunch they were sent back to do some more, dd started to struggle so I went and helped for an hour, we then discussed the plan for tomorrow and ongoingly (I did say it was bad). We need to go through both their book cases and take off anything they have outgrown or we have duplicates of.
OH made a walnut and cheese soda bread for lunch, yummy and for dinner tonight we had roast chicken followed by HM coffee ice cream OH made yesterday. The slow cooker is on over night with the stripped carcass, veg peeling, dregs of the gravy to make stock. the meat stripped off has been open frozen and will be boxed tomorrow for use in various dishes including chicken and ham pie & risotto.
We have had our monthly finances chat, I want to review our 4 year plan tomorrow if I have a chance.
Today I also did the usual bits and pieces but we did need to dry the washing inside. Hope the weather improves so we can get back to drying outside because of stripping all the beds and dd getting all the dirty washing out of her room we now have a mountain of washing to do :mad:Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Ally, for heavens sake get your injury looked at and take it steady. Why do you have to work such silly hours? It is not good for your mental or physical health
Allowing myself 5 mins to swing by here.
Thanks lovely people.
Staffing crisis at work.Three days off now and then hopefully reinforcements will arrive.
Recruited new staff a couple of weeks ago but they decided to resign leaving a team of 5 down to a team of 2.
I love the challenge of Senior Management but currently my job is trying to kill me.
No money-saving as such just resting and getting my smurfed knee repaired.

Morning all :coffee: here after cat woke me up retching next to my bed  so had to get up and check he was OK after I showed him downstairs to the laminate
and also clean up our room.
Anyway, hes ok, just had his breakfast and gone out
Hope the weather is holding for those camping this weekend. We had a busy day yesterday and DH and I did some prepping of the hall (that we stripped about a year ago) so we can paint it. We're not going to plaster it as its not too bad, which will keep the cost down as we already have the paint :T looks loads better already. Used a donated 2nd hand vacuum to clear up afterwards so our vacuum doesn't have loads of dust and stuff in it. Lady came to collect nest of tables. Paid cash which saved paypa1 fees.
List for today:
Make jam tarts with ys pastry
Deliver fleabay item- wouldn't normally do this but it's in a nearby village and I need to go there today anyway to collect something I ordered from JL so I'll save on postage and buyer will get it quicker
Collect JL parcel, most of it C presents that were in sale
Roast using stuff from freezer, previously roasted pork, extra yorkshires I froze last time
3 items needed for this weeks meal plan only, will pick up today
Go for a run
If weather holds, go blackberry picking
Hang some washing out
Make tomorrow's packed lunch
Enjoy your Sunday.0 -

Ah, PF - nothing guaranteed to get me out of bed quicker than the sound of a cat being sick. Hope yours is ok now.
Pleased you survived the sc chicken LaE
I got my day of not leaving the house yesterday and am hoping for similar today apart from tutoring. It's rained almost non stop since yesterday morning so it's a good kind of day to stay home - matches my mood of going back to work tomorrowcrazy_cat_lady wrote: »

Morning all
It seems to have finally stopped raining :T
Been to a couple of car boot sales, not much spent. Going to a food festival in town today, but won't spend much there either! Hope to find some freebie nibbles in fact
Apart from that:
Check banks
Dog walks x 2
Leftovers for dinner tonight, cheesy potato and parsnip mash and savoury mince left over from Friday night - will make a kind of shepherds pie I think! And there are plenty of French beans to go with it :rotfl:
Load of washing later if the weather forecast looks ok for tomorrow
Sort out and label a box of goodies to take to my shop space tomorrow
See if there is anything ready to pick in the garden
Find space in freezer for a small tub of roast tomato sauce made last night - yes it really is that crammed
Doesn't sound a very ambitious list ....0
