What small DFW things will you do this week - w/c 29th August

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Have just potted up the greek yogurt I made last night (made yogurt in the sc the previous night and then strained it last night) mmmmm it's so good! will save the whey product to use in a vegetarian risotto to add proteinThink I will make some compot to have with it using foraged berries :money:

Good morning,
I remembered this time to post on the new thread!!
A fairly low spend weekend which I'm happy with so back to it today;
- Check banks and YNAB
- Check free post code lottery
- Bring breakfast and lunch into work
- Get a NSD
- Prep for tomorrow
- Download some free music
Have a nice day everyone0 -
Morning Monday People,
Short list from me today, but I shall be keeping the budget faith:
*Not an NSD as going to the cinema tonight, but am using cash from our 'Leisure/entertainment' Piggy so no hit to the bank account.
*Wash hair & let it dry naturally, as well as getting 2 baths from 1 lot of hot water. Our energy account is in credit so I want to build on this ready for winter.
*Make meatballs using leftover turkey mince & lots of our home grown veg.
*Water veggie garden.
*Peg down strawberry runners into large pots for rooting, so that I have lots of free plants for extra strawberries next year.
*Update blog if I get time & while I'm sitting down, have a look at this week's job list.
*Peg out laundry for free drying.
*Write letter. I already have a stamp as well as a recycled envelope.
Have a lovely bank holiday all,

Hi August Awesome-ees,
Thanks for the Starter PF.
It's my day off and I woke up thinking about concatenating Excel spreadsheets; this wee geek needs to get a life. :rotfl:
Am mainly taking root on the sofa today.
Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Two:
* Posted stamps sold on eBay.
* Did RMSurveys.
* Finished repairing wardrobe with ironmongery. (Link) These repair hooks are epic. I've used it at the end of the rail as the existing fixing is weak but you can also use them in the middle of a rail if your rail sags. (We couldn't replace the existing fixing at the end of the rail with a new one as the rail is not round but is ovoid and the ironmongers had only round fixings.)
* Read online newspaper.
* Turned off electric alarm clock til tonight.
* Cleaned the house with Stardrops and washable cloths. Left quite a lot undusted, it can wait an extra week.
* Done
Live long, live well and prosper.

Morning all :coffee:
Happy BHand thanks for the starter PF. It's the last week of my hols this week so I need to start getting everything together for a return to work... Boo hiss. I'm not ready for it at all.
So I think we've lucked in with the weather today - not sure if dh has any plans for us (I don't) but he's at a football tournament with ds at the moment.
Here's my list
:cheesy: check banking (no change)
:cheesy: keep playing with YNAB
:cheesy: minimal housework
:cheesy: washing done and line dried
:cheesy: declutter and put some stuff in the loft
:cheesy: plenty of rubbish tv and crochet
I need to get people's opinions on something please... I had a bit of a 'discussion' with my mam yesterday about the fact that I haven't decorated the house for a few years. The truth is it's far too much hassle for me and I get no pleasure out of it at all. Those of you that know me well know how busy I am all of the time and I've used this holiday to wind down a bit but not gotten much done. Is it the end of the world if I don't want to paint the house as long as it's clean? I feel a bit put out because the place does look shabby but I don't have masses of cash to throw at it, and definitely not the time or inclination so I would have to pay someone to do it. It's knocked my confidence a bit to be honest.
Have a good day everyone...:beer:Not giving up

My opinion: Don't paint the house.
Painting the house won't make you happy because you want to use the time to wind down.
Painting the house is over-rated. Shappy chic is in. Set your own trends.
Painting the house would injure your wallet.
Painting the house would be doing as someone else tells you. As an adult you have the right not to do this.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
CCL - My thoughts about your question are thus:
House = Yours
Time = Yours
Projected expense = Yours
Therefore:
Decision = Entirely yours
Your Mum's house = Hers to re-decorate every month if she so wishes.
You will know when it's time to decorate. You say you don't like decorating, but when it gets to the stage that you're looking around & can't live with its current state any longer, you will find that you want to go & pick up some colour charts & choose paint, etc. In the meantime, it's amazing how much you can freshen up paintwork with a bucket of hot soapy water & a cloth. We will be redecorating our lounge next Spring. It hasn't been done for over 12 years & we both feel it's ready. We do enjoy re-decorating, but will be doing just this room. Paint is expensive, we always end up buying a few extras to give the room a new look & as all our other rooms have been done more recently, our budget, time & efforts will be spent just on this one room.
When you do decide to do it, try to get into the right head space that you're going to be making it look lovely for you, rather than it just feeling like a chore, & make sure that the workload is shared. You do work hard, then there's all the additional stuff like marking & keeping things going at home, so all big tasks do need to be shared. Even your kids could probably help you slap the first coat on (as long as old sheets on floor......tho' no child could chuck as much paint around as mr f........then walk in it in his socks & stamp it all over the house!!)
But the decision is yours. No-one else's!
