  • If it's gone is done:

    Monday Mayhem ~ Krazy Kitchen

    30 minutes to spare..
Shine the sink and draining board. Make those taps shine and twinkle..
Wipe down worktops and wipe down all small electricals.
Rehome anything that is out of place
    Got an hour...
Clean inside the microwave. A good tip is to heat up a cup of water in the microwave - the steam shifts all the yukky stuff on the microwave
Clean the window and windowsill. Rehome anything that shouldn't be there
Sort through your cookery books/magazines. Are there any that you don't need that are just taking up space? Rehome them to the local charity shop...
    15 fling boogie

    Extra challenge:
    Deweb, don't forget those corners
    Clean light fittings/switches
    Wipe down the doors
    Empty those smelly bins
Clean that cupboard under the sink!!!
    HHI

    Twinkling Tuesday ~ Bouncing Bedroom

    30 minutes to spare..
Strip the bed and remake with fresh clean bedding
    Dust surfaces
Polish mirrors and any other shiny surfaces...
    Got an hour...
Turn and vacuum mattress - do NOT do it if you are unable to or pregnant..get a nice partner/hubby/child to do it for you.
Sort through the wardrobe - is there anything that you don't need or can be rehomed.
    Clean the light switches

    Extra challenge:
Clear one drawer in the dressing table/chest of drawers
Clean the window - make it sparkle in the sunshine
    Clear and clean the windowsill
    HHI
Any last minute shopping for those with kiddies going back to school. Make a list of what you need so that you don't forget anything at the last minute.

    Whimsical Wednesday ~ Barnacled Bathroom

    30 minutes to spare..
    Clean sink and bath
Shine the taps, don't forget to get underneath the taps with a toothbrush.
Clear floor of any stuff that shouldn't be there - towels if they are dirty should be in the laundry bin.
    Got an hour...
    Hoover/mop floor
Clear out the medicine cabinet - if you have any out of date medicine make sure it's bagged up properly and either bin it securely or take to the nearest chemist for disposal.
    Clean windowsill
Last minute checks to see if you have everything for your little ones going back/starting school
    Extra challenge:
    Clean windows
    Wash curtains
    HHI

As well as the bits I've done, I've put on the dishwasher, cleared kitchen surfaces, made dds clear their bedroom floor, then I hoovered it.
Children all seem to be playing nicely so I'll do some more x:)

Frizzle, if my OH went off on one about hoovering, I would have made him do it! (or gone back on on strike) but to be fair my OH will hoover the whole house if I ask him, he won't do it off his own idea, and I do ask he every 3rd week, just to make sure he remembers he makes some of the mess that needs to be hoovered up!

    Hoovering is done
    Car is hoovered and clean
    Parcel is posted
    Bin emptied
Shower cleaned (a job I have)

Decided to leave the mastic around the bath as I have a house guest in about 4 weeks who is good at that sort of stuff, so they can do it!

Now I want the sun to come out a little so I can weed the garden in the sun shine.

Valli I think a letter that your sister can re-read at the times she's feeling down is a great idea.
Fwiw, P's husband told several wee anecdotes about P's life at her funeral, and it came over very well.

I'd have made Mr LW do it, given those circumstances, too! In fact, like Mr Kaz, he won't think of it off his own bat, but he'll do whatever task he's asked.:A

There's a big pile of sticks just outside the front door for everyone's use, particularly for those who have a Black Dog who needs to be seen off. And a big, squashy pile of (((hugs))) to go with them.

I'm in. I've not brushed my hair since Saturday  I'm just exhausted. BD needs a tree to gnaw on. List of things to do today runs to two pages. Broken my glasses, cracked windscreen on the van. Run out of propane in the caravan, so no hot water or gas for cooking. :(

More (((hugs))) especially for you, Dizzy. I hope things improve soon and failing that, that something lovely happens to, for and around you really quickly.

My house is fairly tidy but I tend to ignore the dust and don't do as much cleaning as I should.

Looking around with a critical eye I can't say ours is even tidy! If I didn't have to have a massive clear up every time we invited people over I'd think I'd got it covered, but I clearly haven't. It's amazing how quickly it improves with a bit of work, though.

Valli, say whatever you need to say to your sister while you can, in any way that works for you. Now is just the right time to remind her why you love her and why she makes you laugh - drinking boiled coffee for someone qualifies in my book, so yes to the story.

Frizzle, if my OH even mentioned that I hadn't vacuumed he'd be wearing it! At the very least, if he feels that strongly he can do the vacuumming himself. There are a lot of things that are more important in life and I can only assume he's very unhappy at work and needs to take it out on someone. (((Hugs)))

Shower drain bicarbed because I smelt a suspicious nif in the double bedroom when I showed a new lodger in there last night, and then I cleaned the whole room just because. Ground floor carpets sucked, things tidied up, and now I'm stuck with a pile of sewing stuff that has to go somewhere but I've run out of hding places space. Lodger who is leaving tomorrow is in my office, so it can't go in there, the landing is occupied by the gibble that had to come out of my office to make space for the lodger's stuff and all the nifty hiding places in the sitting room are occupied by my 'temporary' bedding because of the dog's leg problems. Where, oh where, am I going to shove it? I'm seriously considering the back seat of the car which is true desperation. Can you tell we've got guests for dinner?
    Better is good enough.

Frizzle I hear you loud and clear on that one; if he feels that strongly though he needs to do some himself. It's surely much better for you to be out with the kids and doing odds and ends fitted in than cleaning the house top to bottom with them sat watching TV/on computer all day long.

    FBO Great news re job!

Valli had to smile at your recounted story re you & your sister and the strong coffee - putting it down in a letter is a great idea. I would say it at the funeral too for what it's worth.

Nicki sorry to hear you're still having problems with your teeth :(

Donna well done on surviving sleepover!!

Me and a friend took the kids to crazy golf this morning and had a lovely time! S has gone back to theirs to play for a bit and then we're taking the 2 of them to local town to get school shoes as funnily enough we'd both planned to go there this afternoon so thought we might as well go together. I'm keeping an eye on Whiz Whippet - he was shivering earlier so wrapped him in a big fleecy blanket and sat close to him, bless him. He does seem a little quiet in himself so if he doesn't pick up I'll pop him to the vets. He is a wimp though; think it's more likely to be the change in the weather as he does feel the cold and I'll soon be popping a jumper on him.

Just deciding whether to vacuum or iron - neither is particularly appealing but I ought to do something whilst I have the house to myself though the urge to snuggle up with Whiz on the sofa is overwhelming!!

    Just got in
Valli, we spend too much of our lives thinking well say things then don't get round to it, a letter for your sister sounds lovely as does sharing anecdotes.
Sending gentle supporting hugs to both of you.

Hugs and sticks for all who need them.
Going to grab a cuppa, then mKe a start on food for tonight.

After prepping decorating all day yesterday plus tackling a few bits off the mending pile then working all day today (plus going to watch DS1 at an open mic last night, and the compulsory bottle of crabbies) I feel wrecked still so not planning to much apart from needed S&Sing tonight.

Great news FBO on the work front

Happy holibobs Narco - don't worry, the dust won't go anywhere whilst you're away

The letter idea sounds great Valli - it's lovely to be able to look at a letter time and again

I think time with the sprogs Frizzle must come before the house-work, so long as it's fairly clean and tidy

I am sitting here with tears rolling down my cheeks - thank you all for your comments. Personally, given we 'sort of' know what's going to happen (nothing is definite but it's likely IYSWIM) I just want her to know how very very much loved she is; I am sure it will make her cry too but they will be happy tears I think. There are lots of little stories, and happy memories, and while she won't be here they will be the memories I will cling to. She took me on my first foreign holiday, to get over exOH1.
Went out with Mum, other sis (the really sensible one) and her grandsons today. Out of the whole six weeks I have had two 'days out' (lovely place though - see facebook!) Ollie, who is two in October, can pronounce my first name so I kept making him say it!

On a flying note I have - erm - brought dried washing in! *phew*
