Valli you know your sister better than any of us, trust your instincts. From what you've told us she doesn't seem to be a "head in the sand" type of lady so I don't think confronting her with these stories would cause distress. I get the impression she is being rather stoic and if she had a sense of humour before then it's likely she still has it and the stories will raise some smiles. She is still the same person - with the same character.

The readings at the funeral is another matter entirely and not one you need to decide on today. Has she expressed any wishes? Maybe take your lead from her reaction to your letter.

    (((Hugs)))

After a sleepless night, I have removed a glass shade on a LR wall light, where the noise emanated from. Sadly a rather crisped up, blackened insect dropped out. Thus solves my mystery. Still not happy with the surge protector though, I gather they don't last forever, and the light still won't come on after checking this morning.
Coincidence probably but I think I'll replace it.

We are having a day out today, having invited MIL yesterday. I've purchased tickets online, now she's not coming as she's felt poorly since the weekend. Wish she'd mentioned it yesterday, I'd have held off on the tickets, ah well.

So I'm just going to dry my hair and get dressed - then get the kiddies ready. We are visiting an attraction near CY and Jazee so will wave from there :)

  • Morning everyone,

Nothing done from the lists this week, for some reason, even though I started the week saying I would be doing them. So.

    I'm off to do some.
DizzyI only have a twig to spare for the dog, but every little helps x
FBO well done re work x
Valli personally I think the letter is a great idea, these things are hard to discuss face to face without getting upset. The story is great x

OK. I've got an hour and three quarters before DD1s friend comes to make some inroads into the lists. Anyone fancy a one-and-three-quarter-hour-challenge?

Nicki has DD gone to Uni?

No, she's gone to stay with the ex-ILs for a couple of days in the Lake District. They've recently retired so decided to invite her up as each time she's gone up recently its been for a birthday celebration and she's had to come back the next day and their house has been full with guests. This time she gets to spend some time with just them for the first time in quite a while.

    Morning all.

Sticks, spoons & vibes to all.

Spent yesterday sorting out my bullet journal, budget for September and a menu plan.

Off to the dentist this morning and I need a shower before hand so not much is going to be done now. I suspect I'll need antibiotics again due to the plum sized lump on my jaw. I'm also expecting a root canal to be on the cards once the infection is cleared. :( Stupidly weak teeth recently mean my fillings are starting to 'leak' and I keep getting infections as obviously a toothbrush or mouthwash can't get under a filling that efficiently. I've already lost 2 teeth (both of which crumbled when removed!) so it may be time to discuss getting crowns on my molars :(

Zack is sulking on the sofa which I'm assuming is down to DD being away as he's also off his food again. He'll be fine tomorrow when she gets back. I need to nip to Mr A, I forgot to pick up my vitamins when I went with DD the other day so I'll go after the dentists in case I do need antibiotics and I'll pick up some tinned dog food to see us through until I get a delivery. Trying to leave that to as close to DD going back to school as possible to stop her drinking all the bottled water!

DD cleaned the bathroom on Monday so it's looking good and should be okay for just a S&S today. :D

    This week:
Book Mr A delivery for heavy & bulky items
    HGP list for this week
Me time (posh coffee with my book)
    Mop the livingroom floor

    Morning all,
This week has not been as productive as I hoped!!!
Plan today is to get at least Monday and Tuesday done with a little pottering of other areas!!!

OH and I had a massive row over housework on Monday so that has left me feeling a little more inadequate than I did already. We live in a three storey house with a family room downstairs and a living room upstairs. During the day we tend to use the family room. So my priority area is always making sure downstairs in clean and tidy (dining room, kitchen and family room). So that if we have guests they don't think we live in complete squalor!! Anyway OH flipped because I hadn't hoovered the living room this week!!!! Massive argument was had about the balance between doing things with the kids and keeping the house clean and tidy (I go out with the kids most days and everyday do jobs to some extent even if it's just keeping up with the washing, dw, tidying up etc!)
Anyway. All seems to be forgotten now. Hopefully when kids are back are back at school it will feel a bit easier!!!

    List for today

    wm x2
    Mop/hoover the floor
Shine the sink and draining board. Make those taps shine and twinkle..
Wipe down worktops and wipe down all small electricals.
Rehome anything that is out of place
    Clean the window and windowsill

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Good Morning

I washed all the hard flooring yesterday, along with the skirting and door frames and cleaned behind the remaining radiator (we need some kind of fly-lady training for the nation so that 10 years of pet hair isn't left behind radiators for others to find!).

I'm going to be 'on list' today and do the bathrooms, but am still paid working first.

Valli - I think writing down how you feel about your sister and all those 'family moments' that make you smile or shed a tear is a great idea and very cathartic. Whether or not you actually give it to your sister is another matter. My Mum is in a similar situation to your sister but unfortunately has quite advanced Alzheimers so the ability to reminisce with her is rapidly disappearing, I think a letter would be a great idea in my situation too. Frizzle I have walked in your shoes. Kids are older now and there is a rota for essential dailies. It still causes arguments!

Its sad to see so many struggling with BD. Wishing everyone suffering a good day.

Monday's list is largely completed. I will tackle Tuesday and today tomorrow.

I'm currently on a minibus traveling back to JL Cambridge for training! The driver is making me very nervous, I'm glad seat belts are compulsary.

DS2 has had a messy break up with his GF of 2+ years. I'm very fond of the poor girl and she is heartbroken. Her parents are far too involved, its making the situation very difficult.

My lovely sister is looking after DS3 and DD2 today. Ive booked the cinema for them. DS3 has a cricket match tonight.

    Morning all.

Valli, I think your sister would love to receive a letter from you - something she can read at odd moments and know how much you care for her. As for telling stories like that - why not? The joke was on you, not on grandma or your sister! I have heard wonderful stories at funerals that have made everyone laugh and helped them to begin enjoying positive memories of their loved one, rather than dwelling only on the sadness of their loss.

    Yay to work, FBO! :T

I have a "bitty" day today - have done some already:
    [STRIKE]- WMx3
    - S&S bathroom
    - S&S kitchen
    - update church files[/STRIKE]
    - collect printing order and call at pharmacy
    - engineer coming to repair F/F this afternoon
    - *must* set up laptop and transfer files
    - phone friend this evening
    - QHI
    - pack
    - re-make bed and fall into it

Hope everyone has a good day. (((Hugs))) and spoons to all in need and sticks for BDs xx
