Thank you, Valli, for last week's thread.

It is your responsibility to read the forum rules, please follow them on this thread as Flylady has been here a LONG time and is a fabulous support and resource for lots of us.

Welcome to the Weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

The idea is that even if you are really busy you don't need to fall off the wagon!

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!
WM ~ Washing machine
TD ~ Tumble dryer
SC ~ Slowcooker
BM ~ Breadmaker
DW ~ Dishwasher
SOAADFA ~ Sit on 'bottom' and do 'nothing'
KH/XH/FW ~ Ex-husband and other not so polite versions
DH/DD/DS/DW/DP ~ Dear husband/daughter/son/wife/partner/whatever
OH/SO ~ Other half/significant other
NN ~ nice neighbour
Toxic (friend/mother/sister/whoever) ~ person in your life that seems to exist to make your life miserable
AF ~ Aunt Flo 'time of the month'.. nothing to do with flying but it comes up often.
ETA ~ Edited to add
Gibble ~ miscellaneous crap that appears forever homeless
Dot-to-dot ~ pick a small area (not a whole room) like a chair/coffee/table/shelf/worktop or wherever- thats your first 'dot' - totally clear it - clean it - and only put back what should be there - deal with what you have removed (not just move it somewhere else) then if you have time move on and do the same to another 'dot' -the idea is just like a dot to dot puzzle, you aim to join up all the dots and have a tidy room. The trick is to keep each dot tidy until you get them all joined up!
RoD ~ Room of Doom, the one room that feels like it is a permanent pit and cannot be used to its potential!

I'm in. Absolutely must keep accountable, my life/the house has been allowed to slide, and the black dog has taken up residence. 0545 tomorrow the Flying Me is back. So go away black dog.

Thanks Natty for this week, and thanks Valli for last week. I've been reading just not doing anything. (((Hugs))) to you.

  • Hello,

Thanks for thread Natty, much appreciated, and thanks for last week Valli.

FBO sorry the dog is lurking. Sounds like you are ready to tell it to go away though x

The doom that is school uniform shopping happened today. But it is done, labelled and put away, except for shoes. I'm hoping they don't need any, as i had to buy them both shoes in June. I bet they've had a growth spurt.

I've been cracking on with the painting, one coat on the woodwork in bedroom done (took ages, there's a lot of wood). I ran out of paint, so went to get more today and they have stopped stocking the colour I'm using. Argh! I have to wait three days and I've lost the momentum now.

Anyway, flying properly this week. Lists and everything!

Evening! I'm in - thank you Natty :A

I'm quite shocked to realise it's Sunday again! I am getting nowhere fast with this dump of a house and am managing to lose hours feeling sorry for myself or ignoring everything :o

I could have written that myself FBO so hugs xx (Well, apart from the 0545 bit - I'm afraid I can't commit to that time in the morning!!). I write myself a list and then don't do anything, then feel guilty cos I haven't done anything which then makes me feel worse! It seems like a never-ending cycle :o Bl00dy BD

I had so much I wanted to get done this holiday and now I only have a week left ................ :(

Sorry for being so down - I realise others have much more to deal with than me xx

Valli and CY - more hugs and prayers heading your way xx

Right, I will put a list up for tomorrow and aim to do something and if I could get the front room sorted this week and keep on top of the dailies, that would be a start ........

Good evening, Please count me in for this week, as I need to get back on top of everything, I have had the black dog lurking and I need to shake it off. I will be working work off my own list a little this week, as I've persuaded DH to help me get stuff done this week.

Monday Mayhem ~ Krazy Kitchen & Living room
    Quick shower
Let the chickens out and feed all animals
Get the kids to school & nursery
Contact ironing company (I'm going to outsource this job, I know its not money saving but it will keep me sane and free up time to focus on business)
    Check emails
    Paid stuff (9-1)
    Tidy the living room
Make a start on painting the living room (DH is going to do this job)
Clear the kitchen floor of unnecessary gibble
    Mop/hoover the kitchen floor
Shine the sink and draining board. Make those taps shine and twinkle..
Wipe down worktops and wipe down all small electricals.
Rehome anything in the kitchen that is out of place
    Collect the kids from school
Clean inside the microwave. A good tip is to heat up a cup of water in the microwave - the steam shifts all the yukky stuff on the microwave
Look at the cost of getting a new microwave - check finances and schedule purchase date
Clean the kitchen window and windowsill. Rehome anything that shouldn't be there
Sort through your cookery books/magazines. Are there any that you don't need that are just taking up space? Rehome them to the local charity shop...
15 fling boogie in the kitchen
Deal with Mr T order - scan and put away
Deweb, don't forget those corners in the living room
Clean light fittings/switches in the living room
Wipe down the doors kitchen and living room
    Empty those smelly kitchen bin
    Collect lo from childminder
    Catch up with emails
    HHI
Clean that cupboard under the sink!!!
Close the chickens away before dark
    Check uni student page
Update post and make list for Tuesday
    Get an early night

I think that is enough for Monday, especially when I am trying to get motivated and focused.

Hi, is it OK if I come back again please? For about the hundredth time? Seems life gets in the way so I ignore all the household responsibilities I have, immerse myself in whatever it is I'm doing and completely put blinkers on re the state of the house. But then I take the blinkers off and it's like '!!!!, I need to do something about this'. So I am. And I intend staying, not doing a fly by.

Problem is I have a Black Dog right on my heels, DH is still unemployed and the house is covered in dust as almost finished having our extension done. plus all the carp that was in the extension is all over the house. Every flat surface is covered with carp, house is like a war zone and I need to get a bit of order back.

That apart though, hope everyone is OK; looking forward to catching up with you all. I am still working from home (got 3 clients now) so not on here regularly but will try to check in every day.

Just stopped by to throw an armload of sticks to all those dogs; send the blighters to rampage round my garden while I'm away. Don't be hard on yourselves; lots of people have a lot to deal with and even if you feel that you don't fall into that category, your BD is every bit as valid and painful.

Happy hols to Dancemum and anyone else away the same time as me. Doubtless the dust will still pile up, the spiders will spin more webs and the garden get even more overgrown while we're away.
Happy new term to those starting back soon.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.

I am in. Last week of the hols. DD goes back today; this year she's on work experience and she starts work tomorrow.

Hope you all have a lovely day, thanks for continuing good wishes. My RL friends and fly ladies are giving me the strength I need to get through this. Special good wishes for CY and family.
