Thank you, Natty, for last week's thread.

It is your responsibility to read the forum rules, please follow them on this thread as Flylady has been here a LONG time and is a fabulous support and resource for lots of us.

Welcome to the Weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

The idea is that even if you are really busy you don't need to fall off the wagon!

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!
WM ~ Washing machine
TD ~ Tumble dryer
SC ~ Slowcooker
BM ~ Breadmaker
DW ~ Dishwasher
SOAADFA ~ Sit on 'bottom' and do 'nothing'
KH/XH/FW ~ Ex-husband and other not so polite versions
DH/DD/DS/DW/DP ~ Dear husband/daughter/son/wife/partner/whatever
OH/SO ~ Other half/significant other
NN ~ nice neighbour
Toxic (friend/mother/sister/whoever) ~ person in your life that seems to exist to make your life miserable
AF ~ Aunt Flo 'time of the month'.. nothing to do with flying but it comes up often.
ETA ~ Edited to add
Gibble ~ miscellaneous crap that appears forever homeless
Dot-to-dot ~ pick a small area (not a whole room) like a chair/coffee/table/shelf/worktop or wherever- thats your first 'dot' - totally clear it - clean it - and only put back what should be there - deal with what you have removed (not just move it somewhere else) then if you have time move on and do the same to another 'dot' -the idea is just like a dot to dot puzzle, you aim to join up all the dots and have a tidy room. The trick is to keep each dot tidy until you get them all joined up!
RoD ~ Room of Doom, the one room that feels like it is a permanent pit and cannot be used to its potential!

Mr S/A/T/M/L/Al - supermarkets Sainsburys, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi. You get the picture!!

Click here to read Toots wonderful welcome guide

here goes this week...

Magical Monday - Living Room, hall and stairs

Level 1

Bin the gibble - get a bin bag fill it and throw it
Plump the cushions
Get a damp cloth and wipe light switches, remote controllers, door handles and anywhere else sticky fingermarks linger. Don't forget the banisters!

Level 2

Vacuum all carpets, mop or sweep
Shake the doormat outside
Rehome anything that doesn't belong here

Level 3

Dust and polish
Clean the windows
Vacuum soft furnishings

Extras

Check your smoke alarms - if you've been away you might have missed the annoying, persistent beep. If you do not have smoke alarms, get them. In some areas the fire service will bring them and fit them. They will also advise on the best location. And firemen are (usually) cute so it's a win-win.

Read this if you haven't done so already; it's the MSE death check list. It's a whole lot easier sorting out when the grim reaper isn't beckoning you and yours. And if you need to do something make a start.

HHI - let's get that laundry mountain conquered!

Do something relaxing for you. Decide what your me-time treat will be and add it to your list - and you are entitled to your me time EVEN IF YOU DON'T COMPLETE THE LIST:cool:

Twinkling Tuesday - Bathroom Bliss

Level One - THE LOO

flush it
spray down your cleaner of choice (I like cream cleaner)
scrub above and below the water line
scrub under the rim
get a clean cloth, soak it detergent and hot water and wipe down the outside - cistern/handle first, finishing with the lid and seat

Level 2 - THE SINK

Thursday Thrills-in-the-bedroom

the bedsheets - and fling them in the washer

HHI - lets have an ironing-free BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND (unless you live in Scotland in which case I apologise)
Sweep the patio (especially if the bunny has been digging up moss and making it messy)
Freezer inventory? You will be stocking up for Christmas soon (or other festival you celebrate) so what can be used up to free up some space?

Friday Frenzy - pick a room - any room
Conservatory, dining room, kids room, spare room,...

Level 1
Open the windows
If there's a bed in here strip it and wash the bedding
If it's other soft furnishings vacuum
Throw out any obvious rubbish

Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY

I'm in, and glad to see it is living room on Monday. We had a great day at the Bird Fair but brought back loads of brochures, freebies and a few purchases which are currently in the lounge/diner. I think we have enough holiday ideas for the next 10 or so years.

Car has been playing up again, so is back into garage for diagnostics on Tues. Mon/tues/Wed last chance at gym classes as I have a student Thurs/Fri then I'm afraid that's as thin as I'll be before hols - which isn't very.

Hi ladies...I'm in again. Thanks to Natty and Valli for the lists :D

Just crossed off the read the MSE death check list. Having been widowed once already, I'm aware of the need to have plans and wishes in place and of the stress and upset not doing so can bring. I have already started financially planning for the (s)kids but hope that I've inherited my Grandma's longevity gene - 104 was good going I think!

Bed time now. See you all tomorrow x

    - Check your smoke alarms - BIG sticky note added to my noticeboard/calender to buy new batteries to go in them. I always replace them around this time of year and want to do it this Sunday coming (memorable date for me)

Morning all. I'm in, thanks for the list Valli.

I've had breakfast, fed the dog, washed up and started in the LR, dusting the really dusty bits first. I'll do a bit more of the list now and the get ready for the paid stuff.

    Have a great day everyone.

I'm in. Thank you for the lists.

Dull and muggy weather here this morning.

Hope everyone is as well as they can be. X

I plan to do school prep today. Ds2 has uniform to try on so I can label it all. We also needs to check his pencil case, pe kit and shoes.

I need to find my holiday list too so I can prepare for next week.

Dizzy re: free activities. Our local parks sometime have play days which are free. Also the children centres often organise events. Other thoughts tent/den building and indoor picnics.
