Evening all!!
Hope everybody is well, hugs to those who aren't and hugs to everyone else too just cos they're nice!
End of my first week at college and I have sooooo enjoyed it, everyone on my course is so nice. This week has flown by.
As I was working last night on my birthday boyf and I are celebrating tonight, he is cooking me a pork in mustard and creme fraiche thingy (recipe from Delia) and it's smelling lush! and we have got a lush bottle of wine  , reduced from £9.99 to £4.99, bargainso we are doing restaurant food and wine but staying in to save pennies, but still just as nice an evening.
Now on to why I'm so excited............... boyf brought one of my presents round to mine tonight and................. he has bought me a sewing machine!! :j :j :j I have wanted one for soooooo long and it's a fantastic second hand one and has been looked after so well. I'm so so pleased.
He has really spoiled me this birthday, he bought me a folder with a label "recipes" on the front for all my handwritten recipes, some lovely underwear
, he made me a card, got me the sewing machine and apparently I have another present and a surprise one day when I have a whole Saturday off. Wouldn't swap him for the world :A must start thinking now for his birthday in November though!!
OS related, bought a load of shallots today and some vinegar and am making my own pickled shallots for Christmas, this lot I have put a chilli in, some black peppercorns and a couple of bay leaves. Bought so many that I am going to make a plain lot for boyf's mum. Can you live of pickled shallots alone?:rotfl: :rotfl:
AND a recipe for sweet potato and red pepper soup I got from here I made for boyf's mum and she said it was the best soup she's ever had!!!Must find out who that was, it really is lovely.
Take care all and virtual (((hugs))) heading in all your directions, be strong.

Hi there everyone
(((((hugs))))) to all who need them, especially those with family troubles.
Things settled a little here, DS keeping low profile and went to friends for tea.
Heavenleigh- hope you are OK tonight, scan sounds very promising. Of course, having the CVS test does not commit you to any particular course of action. I had a detailed scan by Consultant with both of mine as I had a sister with fatal heart defect, but I wouldn't have aborted, I just wanted time to adjust to the situation, if necessary. I really hope it all turns out well for you, take care.
Someone asked where to get borax. I get Dripak brand from ironmongers. You could visit Dripak website for a local supplier.
MeanMarie, thanks for your kind words earlier. How old do you have to be to have a senior moment- I'm 42 and I have loads of them.earn what you can, save what you can, give what you can :hello:0 -
Thanks, Heavenleigh. I was a bit worried I would never be able to post on here again - and I might be new, but I do like it. I wish I could say that your experience was unusual, but it isn't. The doctors give the impression that you have to have these tests, but you don't, and if the result would not make any difference, then it is better not to. Any serious medical problems are likely to be picked up on a 24 week scan, but the option of waiting is rarely given, because the doctors make an assumption about what you will want to do, and therefore assume you want to know asap, despite the risks involved.
When I had my daughter, I turned down all testing, even the nuchal thickness, and just trusted that if things weren't ok, we would just manage. I have an irritable uterus and a history of miscarriages, so the chances of getting through either cvs or amnio with the baby intact weren't great. Mind, I was relieved when everything was fine.
I've never understood the people who said I was lucky to have a child with DS: luck has nothing to do with it, LOL (and it's obvious they have never had to deal with his bottom ...). It's just that he's mine and I love him. To bits. As you do.
I hope that there is no bad news when your results come back, but if there is, please know there are lots of people out here who will help you make what is the right decision for you.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000 -
I have just had an email from a troll I think! Being accused of brooking sympathy regarding Mum and what I have posted tonight, and how I feel about DGSs. Real name does not match up with board. I am so sad they are doing this to me as relates mention of a very general post on the Discussion Board that I made.
I should report it but I have done that before! On one ocasion. It was not MSE so maybe not their province.
GB and love and hugs to all my friends.0 -
Hi grannybroon
Ignore the troll....they obviously have nothing better to do....
Im sure that all of us who have got to know you through this board know that you aren't playing for sympathy.... you were simply saying how you feel...

:T I second that!!!! :T
Your wonderfull GB, dont let others tell you anything different.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
And I fourth it! How dare anyone send you a nasty email...you have acted as any caring daughter would in respect of your mother's illness...any issues that you might have with your mother are your own business and not for anyone to comment on! Report the dweeb! There is nobody on OS daily who has not had a kind word from you when needed.
DeeDee....there is no excuse for senior moments at your age...I thought I was 17 when I was 42....in 1987...I have only had the senior moments since I hit 60 so couldn't accept them happening to a youngster like you!
DDs 3&4 had a bit of a go at me this evening when I was bemoaning how little I get done these days...3 is signing me up for Pilates and 4 is threatening to take the car keys as they reckon that if I moved my **se a bit more I would have less problems with tiredness.
Heavenleigh....can't speak with experience on scans etc...they weren't around when I was having babies, but do not allow yourself to be forced into having any procedure which is not necessary...if you want to have it fair enough, but it is your decision, discuss with your OH and then decide what you will do and if you can't make a clear decision do nothing.
PurplePrincess...it is so lovely to see by your post how happy you are with your course and with that very nice young man who gets you surprise birthday presents....my OH used to take me with him to buy my presents until DD1 was old enough to be entrusted with the task....which has led to some surprises since. Enjoy your weekend.
PenPin...good on you back to see us after that ordeal.. take care of you until its all gone away.
Night all...12.06...will have to give this up
Hugs to all who are not around today, would be nice to see you back
