Morning everyone
 lost another 3 lb this week - so thats 1st 2lb in 5weeks:dance:
Righty ho....
quick "mum update"
mum got scanned yesterday and it appears that she had got a big tear in her calf muscle and the pocket had filled up with blood -apparently is an injury they usually see in rugby players.....hmmmm so that is what she does when we aren't around:rotfl: . Anyway they have injected her, sent her home and she has to go back next week... instructions were "go home, sit down, keep that leg raised with an ice pack on it".... when i phoned - what was she doing??? yep she was in the kitchen putting out the dinner , that she had stood preparing before going to the hospital :wall: ....i could scream... brother and neice(16) want a good slap.....sat on their bums -they know she will keep going -lazy sods
Ok rant over....
Well, i think today will be clean the window day...everything else is done - no washing, bathroom etc shiney clean :T ...
I have seriously got into this cleaning round in the kitchen every night before bed.... getting up to a clean kitchen is heaven:D
well it was scrummy pork, veg and barley pie with sage pastry for tea last night mmm, and tonight im doing sausages, yorkies, veg, potatoe and onion gravy -need to get some more sausage made soon - don't want hubby to cry do we :rotfl:
PP - good luck and hugs for you today
Hugs for all those needing one....
better get off and make a cuppa and some toast...-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Morning All
Been up since 5.30 am. Watched Countdown on Channel4+1:o . I know sad, but I like to keep my mind active:rotfl: :rotfl:
Going to get going in a mo, as we are off for the weekend, but delaying set off time so can see DS before we go (if he gets out of bed and sets off on time! Maybe I should call him now - lol)
Still trying to get the water damage to the house sorted out, nothing came in above the floorboards but water went into the air bricks and the damp has done the chipboard floors. We found it was the kitchen and entrance porch, and got quote approved via the insurance for that, they took the time so missed the builders slot, now looking like end October, but we are away, so need to re-arrange to end November. However this week the side bedroom (we have a bungalow) floor has two raised parts showing   so need to talk to the insurance again, maybe November is a good idea to ensure that nothing else goes awry. This was all caused by the amount of water coming down at once flooding the sewers, why I cannot understand, as we have foul and surface drains on our estate. I think I need to talk to Yorkshire water, as at the moment all we keep being told seems to be the effulent from the male of the domestic bovine species (IUKWIM). There are about 8 of affected some much more than us, each one being told different from their Insurance Companies Surveyors, from all floors need replaced, to just put the dryer in and dry the underneath out and it will be OK, or we'll rinse out the floor underneath and the smell will go. The worse part about it is we did not think we had had much water on our property, as we were at work when the worse came down and did not get home until 7 hours later when it had drain (underneath our property we now find out!). Others were still obvious. Never mind if they do need to completely gut us we can take off to Spain and hide out of the way :j :j .
Hester If you do go wireless, your lodger can buy a USB wireless card which just looks like a USB key - I got one for DS when he was in a shared house at uni with a wireless LAN. I am sure it was less than a tenner then and I am sure they are not much at all now. Maybe if you offer internet access you can charge more rent!!
P-P - Good Luck - Hope you can eat some more exciting food soon.
Take care

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Hello. I got back from my conference last night, and found that DH had actually BOUGHT curry for tea because he "couldn't find" any in the freezer. Um, our freezer is so jam packed it's hard to open. Ah well. Left over curry for lunch.
My money saving plan today is to work out a meal plan for next week that involves as little shopping as possible. I draw the line at using frozen veges, and DS will need his drynites, but we don't need any meat and not much school lunchy stuff. I have quite a lot of washing to catch up on, but I think I will be able to hang it out. I'll work at home so I can multi-task.
Apart from that I have heaps of work to do, as uni term starts in just over a week, I am teaching on four different courses and have no lectures prepared yet!!!! From now till Christmas, it will be weekend working again. Oh, and I'm in London for another conference at the end of next week. What was I thinking when I planned that.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000 -
Morning all
PP - Good luck for today - will be thinking of you.
Hugs to all in need - although you all sound pretty perky this morning - must be that Friday feeling :j
DD2 woke in pain 3 times in the night - bless her she's lying on her bed watching a dvd and I intend to let her stay there as long as possible - she's had a really grotty year with broken bones, illnesses and consultant appointments at Great Ormond Street - lets hope next year is better for her.
I've had a quick swish and swipe around - as much as my sciatica will let me anyway - the place needs hoovering but I know I can't do that so it will have to wait until tomorrow.
Popped into Farm foods for the 1st time yesterday to grab a drink for DD2 and saw just how cheap some of their stuff is - will be going back tomorrow for a stock up.
Spag bol tonight - was going to be last nights but no-one was hungry. DD's picked and DH and I just went without - funny how it goes like that sometimes - will make some extra cheesy gooey garlic bread to go with it.
Weekend will be spent directing DH in the garden - grass needs a good cut and some hedges need a good trim before the winter sets in.
Hope you all have a great day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Morning All!
Hugs to the headachey <Essex Girl> and <this is it>, although personally I like to have my forehead stroked when I've got a headache, my mum used to do it when I was little and I still find it soothing today.
<<PenPin>> Good luck today, hope to hear from you later
<N9eav> What a sad story. There was no info on why, which makes it sadder somehow.
<Crazychick> Hope you can continue with the current therapist
<MrsMcawber> and <her mum>
<donny gal>
And finally a Good luck <hug> to everyone tidying, cleaning, decluttering and generally getting-on-with-business .Hope you don't mind not being individually acknowledged.
WM on, yesterday's cakes are now cold and have been wrapped up and put in airtight boxes to mature. I've also discovered I miscounted, and need to make another one, so have to go and get some of the ingredients (more cherry brandy, more angustura bitters, lots of dried fruit).
One of DH's bottles of cherry wine decided to uncork itself last night, all over the hall floor. Fortunately we have hard flooring.
General tidy through today, hope the weather stays dry so I can open lots of windows to air the house. Have Steak on my meal plan, but I don't really feel like it. We had a takeaway curry last night, which was lovely, but I feel really lethargic this morning and am completely disinterested in food. If it doesn't change by lunchtime I'll swap tomorrow's meal plan (Gammon steak for DH, soup for me) with today.
Am off to the gym in a moment, then I'll have a shower and get changed as I'm off for my fifth Arasys session.
Have a good day everyone0 -
Morning all!
MRSMCAWBER - well done on your weight loss!
Hester - your lodger needs a boot up the !!!! I know just how irritating a computer hog is lol, but in my house we now run the downstairs PC, and I have a w*** and home laptop that runs off the WiFi, and my little sister uses a USB dongle in her PC to connect.
And hugs to all who need them x
Well mum is due home at 5 tonight - I made the pastry for the pie (and sorted out a pie dish) and I made the biscuit base for the torte last night.
So today is a MEGA tidy up (can you tell who is the houseproud one in our family lol), and I'm going to put a couple of loads of washing on, hopefully I'll get them dry outside.
Once I've finished work, then I need to make the body of the torte, the filling for the pie, and the red cabbage - should be doable, I hope lol.
Then it's onto sorting myself out for my holiday next week.
Have fun all xxxx:cool: Proud DFW Nerd 135 :cool:Sealed Pot Challenge - 0190 -
Morning!! :hello:
Hope all the headachers feel better soon
Good luck PP!
I agree about the onion breath Frogga!!
It's good to hear you're getting something out of the family therapy Crazychick.
Well I have decided that I am better today. Not really but I can't lie about anymore or I'll end up screaming at someone.

Hitler's handmaiden[/strike] My mother in law has announced her arrival this evening. So I have to feed a vegetarian who will spend the meal lecturing us about poor defenceless animals, cholesterol, junk food and salt while refusing to sit on my leather sofa (while wearing her leather shoes) and generally telling us how unhealthy we are and downing her 2nd bottle of wine.
I wouldn't mind but we're one of the healthiest families I know.
Aaaaaannnnnnnnyhoooooooooooo. She's scuppered my plans for lentil soup made with ham stock for tea so I need a rethink.
Have cleaned the kitchen and cleaned out the fire in the living room but need to move upstairs and tackle the bathroom. Think I'm going to leave the girls room as it really is a pointless excercise with the weekend coming but I will make them tidy it a bit before sunday or they won't be going to their friend's party.(still have to buy a present for that)
Also noticed muddy paw prints on the kitchen sofa so will be getting the stardrops out at some point. Then it's shopping day so I will be joining you in Farmfoods Pooky and then topping up at Lidl and Aldi. Going to avoid MR T today. The population of our town doubles at the weekends with tourist and second homers so Tesco is a bit mad on a Friday.
that's all folks.
Haribo x0 -
Morning all.................((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) if you need them and good luck PP.......I have had the injection route for tooth removeal and its fine.
Dull and quite chilly this morning we have to go and see if we can see our councillor re the HB demand we had last week, hopefully she will also have the paper work we left with her last time. Its time we had it back, I need to check that the CT are taking the right amount.......
I have not heard from my computer chappy, am not too happy about the lap top, I would have thought that it should not break down twice in 6 months. I will be taking advice from one of the other boards to see what we can do about it.
We have a visit to Tesco and the library as well need fuel in the car too...........Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Onion Breath here,:rotfl: I think my bizarre sense of humor is lost on you lot! ~ I was only messing about the people at the school! I don't know , I'm obviously too subtle for you!!!! You bunch of wallies xxxx:rotfl:
Morning all,
Haribo ~ I hate veggies who ram it down your throat! I've been veggie since I was 5 and I'll tell you all why if you want to know but I'd NEVER lecture anyone as you'll just loose the argument straight away xx Deep Breath x she may be a pain but look at what she gave you xx
Pen Pin today will be over in a jiffy and you'll be back posting on here saying all went absolutly brilliantly, you wait and see xx
Redruby, thats really sad , makes you think about your own little moans and how trivial they are doesn't it?
Mrs M ~ you are a star, I'm SO proud xxxxxxxx
Hope the rest of you are ok, and by the way the thing that shall not speak it's name is going well xxxx:TSay it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

DPDeirdre my DS is 15 next month and he does have his moments but I try to have time with him on a 1-to-1 basis regularly so we can chat about whatever he likes. On a recent "Honey, we're killing the kids" there was a man who had 6 (or was it 7?) children. He was a widower as his wife died 3 years before. The kids were acting up some rotten and one of the rules he was given was to give each child half an hour of his time each week, just 1-to-1. The change in the children was incredible and the whole family got on a whole lot better because of it. Might be worth a try. Won't cure "teenage-itis" of course.
joannas mum sounds as though today will be much better than yesterday. Hope you enjoy it.
Haribo good luck with your veggie MIL. Don't envy you at all.
mrs micawber well done on your weight loss. :T I will post mine tomorrow.
(((hugs))) to pooky and DD.
donny-gal have a lovely weekend away. I'm getting quite jealous of all those peeps popping off on holiday now.
dannhaz bad luck on the cherry wine - (1) losing a bottle of wine and (2) the mess you had to clear up. Did you have to open a bottle to settle yourself after the cleanup?
redruby hope DH is feeling better soon.
W**k isn't too bad today. Managing to get quite a few things cleared so I can toddle off happy today. Must nip to the supermarket to buy bread and some things for the weekend but hoping not to spend too much.
Must remember to phone school later as DD didn't get a lunch at all yesterday. They are only allowed to eat in the dining hall but she had to queue to get into it and by the time she did, she got as far as taking her sandwiches out of her bag before the bell rang. I'm not at all happy about it. Hope it doesn't happen today as she has PE last lesson and I don't want her fainting with hunger.
Right, must go and organise some pointless valuations for someone. xx"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."
