Ds had me up half the night so a tired and unproductive day so far.
Struggling with my dissertation, disturbed nights do not make for easy reading of political theory.
Have managed to line dry 2 loads of washing and have homemade pizza for tea tonight. Going to pick DS up early from nursery and go buy fruit and veg from local shops, see if there is any going cheap at the end of the day!

BTW - Does anyone have any tips for revitalising leather sofa's /chairs without buying expensive 'speciliast' cleaning products?
I also need to find somewhere to buy borax - any ideas?

Just to clarify the lodger/laptop situation, the laptop belongs to school & so is restricted on what can be viewed, even with a wireless router, she will not be able to access Yahoo or Hotmail.
Still todat is Friday, & hubby has worked all week, which means Takeaway night, which means I'm not cooking, so I got to the PC first & now I'm hogging it, lol. I looked up the train times for her as she is thinking of visiting friends for the weekend. She did ask if they could all come here, & stay the night, but I said no, I'm not comfortable being outnumbered in my own home.

Ceridwen My life wasn't bad, my mother wasn't unkind, she went to the Dr's as she was suffering with her 'nerves' & the Dr suggested a couple of kids would do her good!!! Fortunately she realised after just one, that kids weren't the answer. She was totally disinterested in housework/cooking etc. so went back to work as a school teacher. She could no more organise house cleaning or cooking on a regular basis than I could fly, thats just the way it was.

Hope everyone has had a good day
    Hugs Hester

  • Hi all,
I havent been around much for the last few days as on Wednesday my 12 fetal scan came back with a high downs risk.

Have been for CVS testing today and feel slightly better about things.

My appointment was at 10am and the consultant was bang on time.
Sat and read through the procedure risks etc and signed the consent form.
I couldnt control my whole body from shaking.
Was then taken to procedure room where two (extremely good looking) male consultants took an hour to get the baby to lie in the right possition to take a more detailed look and re-take the nuchal fold measurement.
On wednesday it came back as 4mm today the highest they could take was 2.8mm.
The first 45 mins was coming back at 2mm and i perked up and thought i was in the all clear, but when they managed to get the 2.8 they said i was classed as 1/00 chance of downs so the procedure was to go ahead.
It wasnt too bad, the local stung but the actual larger needle into the placenta wasnt bad at all.
The first sample they took wasnt enough so they had to re-do it!
I looked at the wall the whole time and have no idea what they did do and i think that helped.
Im not really in any pain now just a little discomfort and have had no bleeding or cramps.
I will get the preliminary results before 4pm on Tuesday at the latest. And the full results in 3 weeks.
Because the measurement has changed from 4mm to 2.8 they are no longer worried about heart defects or a cleft pallet etc, so thats a relief.
They also noticed a pronounced nasal bone so that is also good news.
Fingers crossed for the results now and if all is well i will know wether bump is pink or blue.

I'm also amazed at what a consultant will tell you at just 12 weeks compared to just having a sonographer do a dating scan!
    I know know:
    Crown to rump = 5.5cm
    Nasal bone present.
    Skull/brain appears normal.
    Heart appears normal.
    Spine appears normal.
    Abdomen appears normal.
    Stomach/bladder both visible.
Hands feet both visible with 5 fingers and toes each.
My placenta is prosterior and high with a normal structure.
In previous pregnancies they didnt really check any of these at the dating scan.

It is going to take an absolute age to read all the posts i've missed i hope everybody is as well as can be and huge hugs for those who need them xx

Leigh and soon to know pink or blue bump! xx

Ps well done if you managed to read all that without giving up half way through!
I will save my tesco £1 savings stamps this year! .......so far = £50 (full card#1)

Well I am furious.....have just had a call from my computer chappie and the hard disc has failed again in my new computer, the second time in 6 months, it is only 2 months since I had it replaced..............Its going back to the manufacturer under the warrenty, I have to ring them Monday and get them to collect it............£420 for a lap top that conks out after 6 months can you see the steam?????

Went to see about our HB this morning, our councillor was not there but we were able to ring her and she is going to look into it....we then had a quick trip to the library and then to Tesco......spent £12.10.....hopefully fruit will last us until the end of the month. I put £7 of fuel in the car and have £5.90 emergency money........

This afternoon have picked 3lbs of beans from the lottie, some raspberries and some more blackberries, they are about over now, have a bowl in the fridge with stewed apple and the fresh fruit for a crumble. We had a very bad potato harvest, so I am going to have to buy a sack in the near future........

I need a chicken at the end of the month, so will have to try and empty some stuff from the freezer to make room for it.......we are going to Devon for 4 days and if I cook a chicken for Sunday we will have 2 dinners to take with us, chicken with rice, chicken with salad, so I will only have to take 2 other meals. Spag bol for one and sausage for the other.......

My keyboard is broken. The g and h keys are stuck down, so I am using the on screen keyboard until I get another one.

Not much going on here today - been at work, it was rubbish. I have been put into the office now which Im not that pleased about.

OH has 'kindly' invited his friend round tomorrow morning, even though he will be in Totnes, so guess who will spend the rest of the eve cleaning/cooking in preparation for entertaining a complete stranger   I really wouldnt mind but because we havent really moved in properly yet, the house is still full of boxes and its almost impossible to get it looking nice. Oh well, I shall try my best.

And he didnt put the curtain pole up for me last night. Put some pictures up though - shame he didnt ask me how/where I wanted them first, so now hes got to do it again properly. Grr men...

    Breakfast; Fruit loaf
    Lunch: Paked lunch

Heavenleigh, I hope you don't mind me asking, but did you actually want this test? Your post sounds a little as though you were told it had to be done, rather than that you asked for it. I have a son with Down Syndrome who is 8, and while I would never ever tell somebody that it is easy or try to make them change their mind about a termination if that is what they want, I do worry a bit that some people are pushed down a path without the alternative view coming out.

    Evening everyone :hello:

Just checking in after my first full week with my new class. I can't believe the poor behaviour of some of the children, but it doesn't help that the head does not discipline AT ALL. Even I, as a relatively inexperienced teacher, can see that there are some things lacking. It's an infants school and the "merits and birthday" assembly was just blinking awful. I was so bored and the children were fidgeting like no tomorrow! Hopefully she'll retire sometime soon!

DH has got 25 working days left in his current job, so he's beside himself without excitement.

Not much other news as I've been so busy with work.:o

Supper tonight is defrosted chilli con carne and rice. :D

    (((hugs))) to Penny Pincher.
