  • Hi Everyone

Have been on my own at work today and wonderful! I kept an eye on you all despite not being able to post or do the thanks. Unfortunately I didn't do Twink's wee tip about taking notes about what everyone up to as by this time of night we have senior moments!

I know there are folk out there who haven't had good days. However, just want to say to PenPin hope the procedure went OK today, and Heavenleigh - just caught up since coming home. Hope things all OK for you too.

Don't think anyone seems to have major celebrations today but if I missed something, hope you are having a wonderful day.

Went for a shop on the way home as having DGSs 1 and 2 tomorrow for 2 nights. Got some fantastic yellow sticker stuff in Somerfield (6 beef mince pies and onion for 48p - 3 meals!!!!!). Got home after having had my hair cut to find that DH had been on the foray today too. We are having pork chops (huge) which had been reduced to £1.10. Friends called off from having meal with us tonight so Spag Bol now on hold until tomorrow and chops cooking.

Hope to catch up again later this evening.

(By the way our Lidls doing up to 70% off fruit and veg from Monday.)

    Love and hugs to all.

Heavenleigh, I hope you don't mind me asking, but did you actually want this test? Your post sounds a little as though you were told it had to be done, rather than that you asked for it. I have a son with Down Syndrome who is 8, and while I would never ever tell somebody that it is easy or try to make them change their mind about a termination if that is what they want, I do worry a bit that some people are pushed down a path without the alternative view coming out.

Hi hun, i certainly don't mind you asking.

To be truethful, it has all happened so quickly it seems like a blur, i had nuchal scan on wed and they had booked the appointment for today by the time i had left the hospital.

Hubby wasnt with me as he had to work and to be honest it was sort of implied that i had only two choices, cvs straight away or an amnio in 4 weeks.

I chose the cvs as i didnt want to wait but the option to have neither wasn't really mentioned.

That said i am glad i have had it done as i feel when the results come back i can make an informed decision and look into all options thoroughly.

I think the nhs can be slightly sneaky, today for instance, the consultant told me the procedure and risks then got me to sign the consent form which of course i didnt read as my head was elsewhere.

Only when i got into the car on the way home did i realise i had also consented to my 20ml of fluid and placental tissue being used as they wished afterwards for research etc.

Had i been asked i would have said yes but i am a bit annoyed that they 'forgot' to mention this at the time.

I took part in a student survey almost 10 years ago when I got my major reproductive bits removed. I was part of a study - still never heard what the outcome was and no follow up. Don't know if my case history helped or not. However, took part in a mammogram latterly (taking HRT stuff and a post follow-up but going to survey - I volunteered) and they had me in often and said I was fine. Anything to progress diagnoses, treatment etc. Said best things to have bits removed and HRT to prevent anything else. Doctor now weaning me off HRT and I am getting huge flushes as no natural menopause.

Been through the mill with DD1 3 times with DGSs. Just keep in there sweatheart.

  • Hi GB
I had a 'natural menopause' 15 years ago & I still have probs with hot flushes, lol. I just thought I'd cheer you up with that thought!

Thanks for that - just what I needed to hear! However things not too bad judging from my friends and your experience. I am not waking up in the night gushing with sweat - just occasionally have to kick the legs out from the duvet and mop my brow!

My hubby thought he was suffering with me until he realised that everytime I throw the duvet back, it goes over him, so throughout the night he alternates between having one or two layers of duvet.
I recently treated myself to a 'chillow' very expensive £16, but worth every penny as I sleep so much better with it.

  • Just had a phone call from Mum

Things still fine and she says she is OK but visitors dropped off and can I go up again tomorrow? I can't go up this weekend as we have boys (a 4 year old and 2 year old would create havoc after 10 minutes in ward). I think this is a bit of emotional blackmail. I took time off work yesterday to go up for afternoon visiting for an hour (3 hours driving each way with a lovely pit stop seeing my boys).

I am not going to bow to pressure as I know I have been there for her over the last 35 years (and been bullied or blackmailed I might add from time to time). I have posted about the lack of support, being adopted etc previously. Not going there again at the moment. As I have said before DD reckons she has no relationship with her Gran as nothing produced in early years. DS a slightly more forthcoming - perhaps because he has moved away.

I want to be part of my darling grandsons' lives and I think DH and I full on.

Sorry -I am getting a bit heavy. Just when I think things are OK they get heavy family wise. I just feel when I think I am getting out of the pressure mode more pressure being put on me.

  • Evening Guys!

Just to let you know Im still alive:D

Things as usual didnt go smoothly and only had 2 wisdom and some roots done today:rolleyes: ....I opted out of sedation as I was feeling brave:p ...he started with the 2 wisdom teeth...not too bad but loads of tugging and pulling.

Pulled a few roots out then panicked as a couple of roots had settled deep into my sinuses...and I then had a hole from my gum to my sinuses:eek:    ...he had to call another surgeon in for a 2nd opinion, then an xray and found another small rood inbedded which needed to be taken. Anyway..some more drama but not for the squeamish (sp) so wont post about it, but not pleasant..then had to have something placed in this sinus hole and hand stitched up. Was advised not to blow nose for 2 weeks, just wipe and that I will probably get a nasty sinus infection because I dont heal well with the Lupus and meds Im on for other stuff. Put on more anti-bio, strong pain killers and nasal drops. My left side of face is all swollen and looks like ive been beaten up. It hurts so much:o Using frozen peas ATM.

Have to go back next week to check on stitches and infections. Was told today that my right wisdom tooth will need to have some bone cut away and stitched to the gum:eek:

Believe it or not, my teeth are dead straight and have always been perfect, but since I became ill, all the goodness has gone. I want to bleach them once all this is done and you cant see my back teeth anyway. At least my front ones still look pretty good.

Anyway, I hope all is well.

has anyone heard from Ticklemouse or Queenie? I hope they are OK.

Hugs to all. Im off to bed with my sleeping tablet and pain killers:D
