I just picked up my little car, £599.  They fixed all the advisories as well for free, and charged me £70 less than quoted. Bless em.
 However, my radio wants a code that I do not have, so they got in touch with the Nissan who also don't know , hopefully the man they know who knows a man might be able to help....cos the handbook isn't turning up any time soon.
Log book ✅, bound handbook with codes... ❌

I have received a box from work through the post. Might be a bottle of something, might be a glass statue of the boss in the nude.  Schroedinger's Gift Box. I put it under the tree and keep looking at it.  Can't ask Invisible Work Friend in case she doesn't have one - it might be a 'manager-thing'  who knows? Not me!  Never heard of it before, so it might be a secret .... shhhh!

Information is still a one way street with her.  At least I am aware of it. 

Oh 8p /10p/ 15p veg, how I love you! Fridge looks amazing! Sweet and sour cauliflower for tea tonight - free caulis from the community fridge at closing time.

Got up early, and folded 6 (!!) full loads of dry laundry that I have ignored this week in the hope someone else will do it. Nobody else did it. So I did. It is done, that is the  main thing.

This morning I am  on 'parcel duty' until DH comes back from his shopping trip, then I am going to drop some stuff at the charity shop, pick up some silly bits for DS4s birthday (Christmas Eve Eve Baby is going to be 15) and later on, I am going to bake, I am going to use up all the odds and ends of baking things in the pantry. A clean sweep. There will be much cakeage.

Yesterday I was gifted another local grown celeriac by an elderly gentleman.....so it seems I now have 3 octogenarians on the go.  Honestly, I am a victim of my own charm sometimes.  Wonder if I will end up with enough for a 5-a-side team   It is a niche market, but I am filling the gap!

Carpetman came and measured the rooms (to be on the safe side) and proved that I can actually count.  Always nice to hear. Sadly he left behind a horrid strong smell of either David-off Blu or Savage that did not mask his odour, or the cigarette smell.   Again, smelly salesmen. 

 Poor DH came down off the top floor to ask who had scent-marked the house because it was making him feel sick.  Anyway, the carpets will go down at the beginning of January.

Car insurance done. £280.  It was £180 before all the breakdown and extra legal add-on wotnots.  Oh well! 

It is still cheaper than the non-breakdown including price of the T0sco renewal.  Another year sorted. Hopefully it will not be needed.   Still don't have a code for the radio. 

Volunteering is over until 30th December. Nearly a whole week off! Finished the session tonight. We were just about the last one still to be open, so lots of people who usually go elsewhere.  Anyway, all left with bags of food. Job done.

 DS4 enjoyed his birthday presents, and his cake, and his meal, and has scarpered back up to his bedroom.

I still don't know what is in the box - carrot... or no carrot!

Well that is that done. 

Boxing Day pie will be made with all/any leftovers, with Xmas Pud and custard to finish it all off.

Work present was a bottle of wine we can't drink. Oh well, will regift to someone else. It was much more interesting when it was inside the box.

Doing a roundup of the working year - earned just under £5k from paid employment and won £2,500 on the Premium Bonds = Grand Total for 2024 of £7,443  - not including ISA interest, as it just rolls over and is reinvested and I am not thinking about it.

Had a knock on the door at 10am by the police investigating 'an incident' that occurred  at 11.30pm outside our front door.  Must have been a very quiet incident, as we were awake and reading in bed and did not hear a thing. Hope they are okay, probably not if  they actually sent a Rozzer round doing door-to-door on Boxing Day.

Ready to start 2025 now.

2025 Plans

Bathroom planning and get a start date in the diary

Bedroom painting  (before the carpets go down) 

Wardrobe buying ( for delivery the week after the carpets go down)

Floorboards need screwing where annoying electricians have not put them back properly (before carpets go down)

Living Room painting before carpets go down

Hall painting before carpets go down

Really careful bannister painting on the middle-to-ground-floors where the carpet has already gone down

Carpets going down on 8th January

Chimney removal in bathroom and below in the kitchen

Hopefully all done and ready for more building work on the ground floor by Easter.

In-laws fishing for a visitation in February - will agree, as  it does not interfere with my work commitments. 

If I don't go,  DH will not,  and they need to get P.O.A / E.P.A  done before one of them starts talking to the standard lamp (in-laws, not DH). 

They are going to get demanding. It can't be helped, and let's face it, we all knew it was going to happen like this.

Someone has exited stage left as if pursued by a bear.  Also expected. No surprise there.

DH's teaching load is insane until May.  He is going to need looking after or he will crash.

This is the lull before the storm ......

Diet starts tomorrow!  Looking forward to it! Woo Hoo!
