“ DS2 ventured from his room today, up the stairs, toward the lairs of his brothers, it is not a route he often takes, and was very freaked out to find a new doorway and a room that had not been there before. He really should pay more attention.”
Seriously??! 😂😂😂😂
“ There is a leak coming in through the roof to the middle floor, I have put a bucket under it, messaged the builder, but have heard nothing back.... annoying”
Yah boo sucks! 😢🙄

I have to say that 70 (yes it is that long ago) years ago I would have been your golden syrup thief. I used to get a dessert spoon full at a time. I cannot understand why no-one ever told me off/caught me at it.

You are obviously a stealthy sneak @badmemory
It is much easier to notice when it is in a clear plastic squeezy bottle and not a tin. You would not be able to get away with it nowadays.

I am fretting about bills, because I am sure there will be added expenses to this project. Even with those known unknowns - to channel my inner Donald Rumsfeld - I will be happy if I have £80k left over at the end of it all. I will be delighted if I have £85k left. That is what I am aiming for.It is the waiting to pay out the money that is the killer. I know the bills are waiting there... lurking about... but until Mr Builder writes it down, I am in the dark.... like a fiscal beansprout. So far the extra known knowns are £1,600 for a roofer, and £1100 for 2 new velux (20 cm shorter, or I have to lose the light - and I am not losing the light). I am sure the electrician did a few more smoke alarms than expected - I have a floating contingency fund of £1000 allocated. I cannot think of anything else.Oh, I just thought of something else. One extra ceiling replastering while the plasterers are here anyway. In news we can do ourselves, I think I will need new gutters at the back as they have been chipped/the joins are leaking now - probably due to builders climbing over them to get in to the loft room through the window. I will have to have a shufty and see if the clips are still fine. We can replace them all ourselves, I will not put up with dripping noises if I do not have to, and while the scaffold is up, we can do that ourselves. Not convinced this will be finished by 22nd you know? When they all finish for C-word. I have no windows, no plaster, no second fix electrics, no second fix carpentry, no roof tiles on the back of the house, not many tiles on the dormer sides,Still, it does not have to be done by then. It will give me an extra payday to get closer to that £85k budget. In otter news, DH has just fixed the terribly squealing tumble drier with a £4 part (a bearing) from AmazIn - well, actually it cost him £10 because he bought the wrong thing first. What a guy!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
