I currently am hosting a plumber, an electrician, and 2 builders.  

Still no heat or hot water, but I have a doorway into the new loft bedroom off the landing.

I am also less than 12.7 for the first time since the last time    12 lbs down so far.    This time I am going below 12. I am committed.  Hopefully the HRT is at the right level now, because losing weight was not happening, despite the fastslim powders and calorie deficit. It just was not fair - DH was losing 3lbs for every 1 I lost and he was totally confused by my slow slow progress.   Anyway, it is shifting now, and the building work is progressing.

He was a total toad this morning. Washing in a sink with a flannel was contemptuous. I boiled kettles to make sure they had warm water, he was sulky and obnoxious and deliberately made himself late for school, which did not work as I have not been sent a notification that he has a late detention.  He must be fuming.  
Heating will be back on today. Hopefully before he gets home. The fool.

And it snowed here this morning 🌨️ just for about three minutes.

They broke through on the landing!  Then they took the whole landing wall out, it is bl00dy freezing and blowing a gale on the landing because of this.   The  velux windows should arrive either tomorrow or Monday.  The window windows will arrive next week.  The new boiler is kicking out hot water and heat. So far, since 4pm  DS1, 2 and 3 have been in the bath - singularly, not at the same time, two loads of washing up done, and still plenty of hot water!

NS&1 have been in touch, step-gran had an account with them, that has been 'closed' for years due to inactivity, but has money in it.  She moved house in 1985 or something, and never updated her details with them, my grandfather had a heart attack two days before they were due to move, so she ended up doing it all herself, and visiting him in the evening, so to be fair, she had other things on her mind!  She never allowed him to put anything in the loft in their new house after having to clear the whole thing in the old house, on her own.   But my/lost/account finally found it.  I have no idea how much is in there, it could be 20p for all I know, but after sending me 3 separate forms, and asking for birth certs, marriage certs, proof of address (nearly 40 years ago!!) they have sent me a form asking what account to pay the balance into.  They have definitely taken their time over it, and it all has to be sent snail mail (of course!) but hopefully it will all be resolved soon.

In celebratory mood (my car is 14 today) I went into the kitchen to use the new hot water to do the washing up, and the house was so cold I thought ........ I need carbs!  I had not eaten much today, just a cup soup, because I was keeping out of the way of the miriad of tradesmen wandering around from 7.30am, so I made a mince and onion pie, dry roasted potatoes, peas and kale for supper, and washed up in the lovely warm water again afterward.   Happy Birthday car.  Good car. Nice car.

So first fix plumbing done, first fix electrics done, first fix woodwork done.  We are half way through the build timescale.  They broke everything, and built a frame, and now they will start putting it back together again, starting with insulation I hope.   Money juggled, all the bank accounts renamed by job/trade, and filled to the quoted amount.

Right, the dryer is still alive and going round and round, so I did all the school uniform so it is done, and then all the towels can be hidden in the washing machine until the workmen leave tomorrow at 3.30. 

All bills go out tomorrow, hopefully the ground rent will appear (yep, still waiting)

My plans for this weekend involve cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, hoovering, cleaning, and dusting.  Visiting a charity shop to buy DS3 and 4 a Christmas Jumper for Christmas Jumper Day at school next Friday.

Oh, and the local closed-off-street Christmas Fair.

Oooh! 🥶 Really hoping either the windows arrive early today and get lobbed in (not that likely as veluxes can be fiddly) or they at least block the holes a bit before abandoning you for the weekend! Yikes ….

I have been channelling you this morning and done my first ever dyeing of clothes, in my washing machine …. Old jeans that still have quite a bit of wear in them but have some weird stains and faded patches of unknown origin …. I would never have had the confidence to try this without your cheerful postings here about it 😊 Hope they come out okay 😊🤞

All the flooring is down. They are clearing up all the mess and offcuts and loading it onto their van.  I robbed back my skirting boards that came out when they broke through on the landing, because they are old and very tall and would be a !!!!!! to try and match, but I know I can rob quite a bit out of the bathroom when it is done - it was originally a bedroom and still has the skirting boards in there !  That will make my life easier actually, if I rob those skirting boards....  thanks for clearing that up for me - you do make a lot of sense.

The Plumber returned, to finish the boiler/cyclinder work and brick up the hole, he said he could not do it, as he did not have any old imperial sized bricks .....   so I mentioned the builders were knocking down a bit of wall yesterday that would have the right size bricks, and he should ask them -the look on his face was priceless.  Guess he doesn't often reuse bricks huh?

Good thinking on the skirting and the imperial bricks. Plumber will probably sulk because they will need cleaning - don’t let him slope off from it …
