I think your roof work for £11K sounds like cracking value and bravo on getting the Velux relocated 👏

Speak to the chippy, not the builder. The chippy will know.KKAs at 15.08.25:

I applied for three jobs in October when I was angry at the older 2 boys, and got offered the interview at the school which wanted an Excel Wizard (I am a Problem and People Wizard, not an Excel Wizard), who then rejected every person they interviewed, so after all this time, I thought 'fine' not been successful, and signed up to a half day course on benefit advice for volunteers that I keep getting emailed about. Half an hour after I got my acceptance email, I got an email from another school who I applied to as an Exam Invigilator, and I have an interview on the very same day I was supposed to be on this course, so emailed and cancelled, so they have time to fill my place again, and within 20 minutes got another email from job number three, saying I was unsuccessful but they would love to give me feedback. So said yes please! If there is something blindingly obvious as to why I was not suitable, it is obviously not obvious to the other two employers as I have managed to get 2 out of 3 to give me an interview.I can cope with a spot of exam invigilation to keep me going over winter, and again for GCSE and Alevel next Easter through July.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

And maybe mocks and other internal exams too. I have nabbed a few hours in a fortnight's time, for entrance exams.

Oooh, deary me! The school I went to the interview in is not going to come to anything - they were recruiting for next year May/June anyway. I don't think I am going to be answering my phone tomorrow. It was made quite clear I am not the right demographic, as it were. But, in good news..... I now have a square shaped box balancing on the top of the back of my house! I have a dormer! It is finally happening, it can only be accessed via the scaffold at the minute, but I have stuck my head out of DS4s bedroom velux, and it looks great in there. Much bigger than expected. They have also made a tuppence sized hole in the plaster on to the landing, so I gave it my best Pyramus and Thisbe after they had gone. The builder says he can just tie in the gable end to the dormer with a few straps and it will not go anywhere. FabThe smaller velux are on order - it either had to be a 15cm shorter window, or no windows in DS4s bedroom or the stairwell, so it had to be done. Extra £1100 spend - boo!The Plumber chap came to look at the pipes running through the old loft space that is now the new loft room, and said most would have to go, old waste pipes no longer needed, old hot and cold water pipes that fed taps which no longer exist, but it meant that I had to do the pressurized water boiler and new cylinder sooner than expected, so it was done today - still have no heating or hot water for tonight - that should be on by lunchtime tomorrow - but he has removed a lot of old obsolete pipework and the hot water cylinder from the bathroom, and the huge new cylinder will now be housed in the kitchen -but now, £3,600 later - ..... I think I am pretty much at the limit of what I want to spend this year. I have £5k left in the Emergency Fund. I have spent around £40k. Time to stop and think, just get this bit finished and then start planning again.I am keeping my maximum wodge in PBs, and I have one full ISA, and a very small amount in another ISA, but I do not want to touch those. Those are mine. If I spent every penny I had, I could do the whole house in one go, but that would leave me with nothing left at all.Tomorrow is payday, and I should have nearly £2k to add to my EF. I am earning around £500 in January, so should be able to save another £2k next month - so don't feel sorry for me - I still have plenty left over, and I will be able to jump on a bargain bathroom in the post Christmas sales. It is going to look fab, but I need time to redecorate and will need some replastering in places and a shed-tonne of emulsion. The place where Plumber Chap ordered the boiler/cylinder from did not actually have the one he ordered when he went to pick it up, so they gave him the next level up one at the same price. So that was a nice little bonus for today, and a 12 year warranty instead of a 7 year one.The house is completely covered in brick dust and wood chippings and I am ignoring it until the weekend. That's the kind of girl I am!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

So glad to hear that a solution was found for the velux issue 😊 To be fair you often don’t know the ins and outs of exactly what will fit until you get right ‘inside’ a roof, from what Mr KK tells me.Love the idea of the dormer 😊👏
i would be stopping for now too and letting my savings build up again - pretty much what I have said to Mr KK about projects next year - very little until we know what mortgage deal we are going to have to transition to - after that saving might be very difficult or impossible 🤷♀️KKAs at 15.08.25:
