He was on Nightlife.  @OpalGirl .  It was a weird week for him last week, he was interviewed for  the biggest farming magazine in North America, and a Danish journalist got in touch for her podcast. Then ABC yesterday.   

He is doing his University (in-house) book launch tomorrow, and then Wednesday he is off to Bristol for the publishing house book launch.    He is a bit like a kitten who discovers the Christmas tree is up - Where has all this come from? What is going on? It isn't supposed to be like this! Who are these people? What do they want me for??? How did you get this number??    

@apple_muncher if only somebody would ask!  He could do with getting headhunted.  Would you like us to adopt you and Mr A-M and Pip if anyone asks?

DS3 wandered into the living room to ask something ridiculous, when DH said 'I am meeting X at 11.00 on Wednesday so I won't be around' - No you aren't  - said I, you are on a train.  What?? am I??, said he, and checked, and rearranged his meeting for 4pm.   DS3 looked totally confused and said - Are you like his PA or something????

Diary management for all of them falls to me. I have a standard Jan-Dec diary, and an academic July- September diary, and about the only things in there for me are 4 days work in January and a dental appointment tomorrow.

Man - Management is my forte.

I think most, if not all, wives are unpaid PAs!  I certainly do all the diary management for both us (kids grown up and moved out).

Still querying the bill from the roofer.  It is £1,700 more than expected, I think they have added the dormer twice.

Luckily the quoting chap is back from his holidays now, so they can sort it out, but can I find the invoice they sent? Nope, turned the house upside down trying to find it. Luckily I had written in the diary how much I had to pay, and went back in time on here and checked my posts, so I know how much it said.  

Hope he kept proper notes or I am scuppered and will just have to pay it I suppose.  Keep your fingers crossed he did keep proper notes.  I do feel bad for querying it - how mad is that?  If I had the invoice I am sure I would not feel bad, I would just take a photo and say, 'oops, think you have made a mistake', it happens, in fact it happens all the time .  Just wish I could find the stupid folder with the invoice in it.  Might have to invoke St Anthony .....

Boo! I had to pay it.  They left the dormer off the bill when I asked for the requote.   Oh, no,  that is a separate bill. Grrr! 

Never mind, I am watertight for winter and have a 10 year guarantee. Also have depleted two bank accounts, and need to top them up.  It just means I cannot afford to pay someone to board the loft out (I want to do it myself, DH does not) but I will have to do it myself now and just pay for someone to fit a bigger hatch and ladder.  UToob says it is one day's work to do, to fit the loft legs, insulate, and lay and screw the boards.  Then I might not have a canvas tent under my bed, or camping chairs (no, I don't flippin' know either, DH did it when I wasn't looking....The man is a menace!)

Builder is due to start Thursday, he says. Dropping the bathroom ceiling 15cm to give regulation height clearance for the dormer bedroom above it.  So we will have to use the cold horrid nasty bathroom downstairs while they do it, but I know how lucky we are to be able to have another bathroom to use.  It will also spur me on to tart up the bathroom upstairs into 2 shower rooms instead of a huge bathroom (it was originally a bedroom), there is so much ridiculous wasted space in the centre of the room - unless you fancied doing planks in there, while turning 360 degrees on your toes.  Takes all sorts....

Sorry to hear about the higher than expected bill. Pleased you are watertight though, and over 1/2 way there now? Even further?

Hi sorry to hear about the bigger than expected bill. We had the asbestos removed on our garage this week and I also was landed with a bigger (20%) bill - I missed the small print (point 4!) about the VAT being not included in the original quote. But at least finally it’s gone and have certification to prove it!

No where near half way finished!  Only just started.   Aiming for  the top two floors sorted by 1/1/24

Mr Builder #2 rocked up this afternoon to introduce himself and tell me they will be here at 7.30 am, and to work out access and to make sure we had another bathroom to use while they do their thing.  So it is all real and it is happening.

DH is in Bristol overnight at his Publishing House book launch (he did his Uni faculty book launch last night) being important, which is lovely for him. 

The bathroom is mostly emptied, I have rubble sacks to protect the sink hole,  bathtub, and the jacuzzi holes,  from 130 years of accumulated carp from falling into it when the ceiling comes down. So far I have managed to get 2 kids into the bathtub, I will have a quick dip before bed. Then it is the cold, tiled, nasty bathroom downstairs for us until the new upper floor is done and we can put the ceiling back up.  It is going to be unpleasant, but not for long!!
