Next door house owner is on holiday for 6 weeks abroad. So I am not sure where that leaves me, should I wait and hope that he says go ahead, start whenever you like, or do I hire a surveyor and have to wait 8 weeks......So last night got an email from builder saying he could start in 3 weeks if I like - well, no he can't, we need to do the legal a*se covering bit first - this is 3 weeks earlier than the earliest he expected when he quoted, so I wonder if another job has dropped out, or if, with the good weather, he has just been able to crack on faster? Will get in touch with him today .Was inside an airless room for 12 hours yesterday, managed to get a big fan in there about 4 hours in, which helped a bit. Everyone got what they wanted, eventually, only a few total meltdowns - mostly toward the end of the day, total screaming match within one family - oh the drama! I love other people's family dynamics, it is fascinating. Total soap opera. Then got home to a full sink of dishes, empty milk cartons on the table, wet laundry still in the machine. DS3 grassed up DS1 and DS4 who ordered takeaway and went to the chippy instead of eating anything I had in the fridge and freezer for them. They are so lazy. One load out on the line in the dark when I got home, put another load on so pegged that out this morning, and another one is in the machine ready to go out after Laura Politics-Show. Still waiting for DS4s school shirts to make an appearance....DH will reappear at some point this evening, there is still loads of food in the freezer, I just need a few top up bits like bread and potatoes and ice lollies. Then I will change the bedding and hoover the house and scrub the bathroom, and that should be all I need to do, and they can fend for themselves as I will be working 7.30-7.30 all week. Busy times.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Good Morning! As usual, when I am actually working, I get phone calls. My phone is an unused, unloved piece of kit 99% of its life. The second day I worked, I was called by the agent for the property next door, who said as soon as I give him a schedule of works and they do a 'condition of wall' report, we can go ahead. The owner is not just on holiday, he owns properties abroad and lives out in them for wedges of the year. .Now I wait for their surveyor to get in touch with me. So it is all going ahead. He wanted the plans (wifi rotten in the building I was in) by email. The physical huge paper ones were not enough for him, he wanted the tiny tiny tiny writing exact same plans electronically (sigh!)Emailed and texted the builder on Tuesday to let him know, and have heard nothing back .....again........ Still have heard nothing from the roofers either.I should end up with about £900 for my week of work. So only £940 left to find for the roof. I have decided I will not be able to go away in October half term. The roof and loft extension are more important.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Just had Dr F-H all of a quiver - his payslip was totally wrong for this month, too much money, cue epic squeaking and squealing of 'Oh No!' and 'Something has gone wrong!' and 'Help! It is all wrong!' - turns out he has gone up another couple of % points on the payscale (phew!) and now he does not know what to do with himself (the first number changed so it seems a huge rise). Bless him.So I have booked myself in to donate blood on Wednesday as a 'Thank you to the Universe' offering.Currently only £1830 short of the roof. (£930 after my wages come in)4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I'm sure you have some suggestions as to what Dr F-H can do with the extra money
(I bet the tax man will have too)

The first thing he did was to increase his housekeeping standing order to me. The man is a darling really. The builder will be in touch with a start date and a schedule of works this week.It all seems to look like something might be going to start happening. But first, I am off to bake some Twinks' hobnobs.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
