Our Wading bird store had L0ve Raw salted caramel df/gf chocolate bars in yesterday - think  Cadburys Caramel Bunny bars. 3 for £1. that is my last resort distraction technique for m-i-l.  Honestly, it is like trying to appease a toddler.

Off to buy Tamari today, because she can't have soy sauce (barley extract in it,  innit), I have also ruined DH's  tenuous plans for cooking for her -  ie. she can't have that, it has chillies in it, she can't have pearl barley, she can't have oats, she can't have any member of the nightshade  family  etc etc etc.  Hello quinoa my old friend!.... good job I have a bulk load of rice.   On the plus side, she has no problem eating chocolate or ice cream or yoghurt or tortilla chips.  

Wonder how she will get on at the wedding,I know she caused a total fuss at the last one, actually she caused a row at the wedding before that as well - I mean who complains during a wedding reception about the food?  Oh well, it will give her something to talk about.  Whatever gets you through the day, when the day is not about you!

What I have discovered is rice pappad, or khichiya  which are rice poppadoms and they are nicer than the lentil ones, and I really like the lentil ones!  She does not know about them, so that will make her happy, because it shows we have thought about her and made plans.   The mango chutney will be f-i-l's favourite, because he does not get it at home.

Oh god the roof leaked like mad today, DH went up there to try and resolve the situation and 2 tiles broke off.  I have spent the day with shysters trying to tell me it will cost £700 to spray expanding foam into it, but they will take the £700 off the price of the £15k replacement roof.  Not had one emergency roofer who quoted less than £13k. for synthetic tiles.  urgh! What's the matter with slate??

So have sent emails to the companies who were coming in around £8/9k in February - when the architect told me to put it off until the loft extension was done and do it all at once, and then did not give me any plans until August.  And of course it is a Bank Holiday Weekend! So will probably not hear back from anyone until Tuesday. Unless they are ghosting  me, like I fear the loft extension man is now doing........ not heard a word from him in a week. The promised date of start of work has not appeared.

These people are quick to quote, but actually trying to nail the bugg3rs down for a start date is nigh on impossible.

Also not heard back from 'the owner' of next door yet. Do I sound impatient?  Well, actually I am .

maybe you can threaten to send DS1 & 2 back with the in laws for a dose of hard labour if they don't get their rears in gear

Still no news from next door owner re: the party wall, no sign of the builder with a start date either. 

However, my  back to school shopping has all been done, even the drinks bottles, DS3 is booked into the male grooming parlour tomorrow morning, DS3 no longer needs glasses as his eyesight is fine for the first time in 12 years and they do not want to see him for 2 years. DS4 still does not need glasses but they want him back in 9 months....

Another armchair left the living room for the back room, laundry has been folded. Bike is still in front of the washing machine, it will leave for the shed tomorrow.

Bike is in the shed! DS3 has short hair. School starts back tomorrow! 

I have had contact from two roofers who will resubmit their (apologetic) quotes from last year. 
Will get the new quotes tomorrow and will have a date to put in the diary for the work to commence by bedtime.  I hope

Today's post did not include permission from house owner next door, maybe tomorrow?  I live in hope..
