It is basically a marking boycott, and not doing the 'goodwill' stuff, like graduation ceremonies, open days, clearing etc.
He is excited by his book,  but really annoyed with his institution...
In other news, no quotes from builders - the first 2 came on 8/7, so they should have worked something out by now!

One quote in from most recent builder - the loft extension is what I expected and entirely reasonable at £20k.  The kitchen extension is horrific (£55k!!) which does not include the actual kitchen bit -ie the units.   Will see what the other quotes bring.
Emailed my original roofers, with their very apologetic £15k quote when the supply issues were going on after C0vid, asked them to resubmit a quote.  This will get sorted this week. I will choose someone and just pay what they are asking.
Got an email from a cashback site this morning, saying my cashback was payable!  Got quite excited until I realised it was for £1.90 :D .  From Mr Twinn-nings the Teabag man.  Thank you Mr Tea.
Tuesday my work expenses should be paid - £220.   Then Thursday sees £275  Premium Bonds winnings for August coming in.  and Friday my £1.90 cashback.   Monday next week is child benefit, the last one with 3 kids on it, so £223 for the last time ever.    My 2 eldest Adult Children are no closer to becoming employed it seems.  Grrr!
So all in all it will be a good week for money coming in..... however it is all going straight to the Roof fund.

I was I was going to ask how DS1’s search for a job was going …. but maybe I won’t ….

That kitchen quote is humongous! Was it itemised? Sounds very structural!

One wall to come out.  But.... The floor needs digging up, a damp proof course laying and concreting over.  Apparently it costs mega bucks to use a spade these days.   Cannot understand why it is so huge a number when it will not be a massive space.  Very sad.

DS1 has the possibility of an interview at 🔮 some point in the future, allegedly.  Sometimes it only takes one though!

I have just run this past Mr KK (he works as chippy in the building trade) and obviously it depends on whether the wall you are taking out is structural or not (RSJ needed etc) and how big the space is, but his initial reaction is that £55K is a ludicrous price.

    Sending 🔮 vibes …. 😉

You mentioned his holiday pay, it should be an average of his last 52 weeks pay, if he can show that he booked it out of his annual entitlement. Things may have changed since I left but they generally didn't let anyone book holiday once the strikes got announced. If he had pre booked then worth an email to HR querying the figure he was paid if it did not reflect his average 52 week earnings. I am sure the unions will have wordings ready for this situation. The challenge was always that staff outside professional services didn't seem to keep records of entitlement and authorised time off.
