That actually really disappointed Mr KK - he’s something of a plane buff and loves to see the Lancaster lumbering along 😉f0xh0les said:I know the silver spoon goes in the mouth, where does the well oiled humble spoon go? I dunno, didn't watch it.Heard on the news they didn't have as many planes flying as they wanted because of the weather. Oh the poor dear!

I got up at 7 am as the weatherman on't telly said if it was not raining with you now, it soon will be, and I had a quilted mattress topper and two loads of laundry on the line. So retrieved, had a lovely cup of coffee and bowl of fruit salad, and took myself off to Mr T's Emporium of foods in the promised rain. Spent £40 but there were 5 litres of vegetable oil and 6 litres of soya milk, and a load of fizzy nonsense. Came home, more coffee, have tidied the ground floor, done another 2 loads of laundry (weather forecast for the next week is dire), rebaited rat traps (have told DH I am upgrading to death traps this week - get in the trap or die, rattus), hoovered, baked flapjacks and a dried fruit sponge topped with marzipan - kind of like an almond fondant fancy, or a fruited Battenburg - it will make their lunch boxes more interesting.Have put the kids' bus pass money into their accounts so they can use their card and not get hit with 'credit notes' off the bus driver that they rip, forget, or leave in their bags. Descaled the kettle, then threw the water down the loo, which was starting to look scaley and stained (bleugh!), back to shiny white again!Going to mop the floor after football match #2 ends (which is proving as much fun as football match #1 today.. - all change down the bottom of the table in the relegation zone), wash up the supper dishes, then watch football match #3. with some h0rlicks I am trying to use up. Won't buy that again -actually might have got it for free with a voucher, nevertheless, not worth the money.Still waiting for the energy bill statement - stupid weekend and stupid bank holiday have delayed it, it should appear tomorrow. Not sure how it is nearly 1/3 of the way through the month, it seems to be whizzing by with all these long weekends and school strike days. Luckily there is only 3 weeks left until half term, when I can have a week to relax. It is the stressful bit of the term, with exams, PPEs, end of term tests, and the weight of expectations lying heavy on their lazy heads.

Just a thought - marzipan = nuts. Are they allowed to take food containing nuts to school?

They are in the secondary school, but the primary was nut-free. Not sure how the school would cope without handing out Celebrations and Heroes and curly wurlies as rewards in class - sadly DS4 is cramming all these 'rewards' into his face as fast as he can, and it is showing. Oh well, if he must rebel.

The posh tea company voiced by Mr Stephen Fry has just had £36 of my money. 1300 teabags coming my way. Cheapest supermarket I can find them in is £4. I got them for £2.99 + a couple of other flavours DS3 likes (x300). Will keep us going for a while as tea mostly keeps us warm in winter. We are down to the last 200 bags, and they will be delivered to the door in cardboard with no plastic. Thank you Stephen! 5% cashback and S&M vouchers from the credit card.Still waiting for the school to cash DS4s cheque - they have had it for 7 days, the deadline has passed. Cash it already!!Idiot builders are back banging about next door.In happy news, the energy bill is nearly half what it was last month, and we are now a whole £12 in debt with the energy company. The DD is £50 more than this month's bill. All looking good for going into the S(pr)ummer months.4/10/25Three Years Mortgage Free Yay!

My OH is Scottish, you can imagine how much of a royal fan he is(n't). So we addressed the issue of how to avoid by having guests stay, going out out on Friday, getting home ludicrous late (early) and basically sleeping Sat away. Job done.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Today was a good and productive day.Cleaned the kitchen early on, then cleaned and cleared the floor in front of the washing machine in the walkway to the back door, planted some seeds in pots , cleared the drains, binned some garden rubbish, sat outside in the yard in a spot of sunshine and had a cup of coffee and piece of cake with DH, got two loads of laundry 90% line dried, labelled some storage boxes, filled the storage boxes, made lunch, washed up again, baked and iced 2 cakes (mostly for lunchboxes Thurs and Fri) descaled the coffee machine, contacted two more roofers so all being well I will have 3 quotes and a date for starting by the weekend (fingers crossed). It is ridiculous. Then had a bath while DH made supper.Premium Bond money hit my bank account, but I have not left the house, so have not spent anything.Busy making a shopping list, but making do with what we have in, as much as possible - made a leek and cheese pearl barley orzotto for lunch with P-S Broccoli, because the leeks needed eating, I had a pot of fake lardons in the freezer, and there was no bread left in the house. I have been deliberately running down the pantry, as things still keep disappearing, so all the baking is to run down the nuts and dried fruits. Iced the cakes with the white marzipan again as it worked really well, and nobody complained, and I had half a pack left from last time .Need to be making soup with some of the million packets of brown lentils a friend has suddenly given me, 'someone' she knew had stockpiled during lockdown, and they were heading for the bin so she took them for me (not sure if she 'took them' from herself to be honest)
anyway, I now have more brown and green lentils than I know what to do with. I will not starve! So all in all, progress, on a Wednesday evening in May.4/10/25Three Years Mortgage Free Yay!

Volunteering done for the week, and now have two shiny new medical appointments for Tuesday and Wednesday. The tests the gp did last week have come back 'unusable' - not 'abnormal', nor 'highly suspicious', nor 'flippant', but 'unusable' which frankly smacks of User Error on behalf of GP. So am booked in for the same again with the practice nurse.

good grief, I know these things happen but imagine if it were the other way round (GP got huffy with me once for a blood test as my veins weren't playing ball...terribly sorry they're not in to blood letting) I also got told when I said I hadn't had one since a kid 'well I hope you're not going to feint or anything, I don't have time for that today' . I was thinking perhaps a career caring for people might not have been the best option by this GP.f0xh0les said:Volunteering done for the week, and now have two shiny new medical appointments for Tuesday and Wednesday.
