Sounds like a very good use of your time @MumoffourkidsSurprise email time! Job 2 that I applied for on Friday..... Her Majesty's Mail Service have been in touch...... and so I have just uploaded all my documents to become a seasonal member of Santa's Postal Delivery Army. Wonder if this time next week I might be employed? I did it when I was last a student and met some lovely people. It is just over 5 miles away, and under 20 minutes drive. Could handle that for October/November/December4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I have an actual funeral to go to imminently, of someone I knew and loved, I felt no compulsion to spend 9hrs watching one of someone I didn't know to just be able to say 'I watched it'
Was outside doing some stuff at lunchtime, was so quiet it felt like Xmas Day with the lack of normal background hum.5 -
All s/g's silver was silver plate and literally not worth bobbins. Oh well. Only the ring was actually silver and worth less than £5 .Her brother got his cheque last week on Thursday - 10 days ago - I found out when I rang this morning to check if he had received anything yet. I did not even get a 'thank you'. Just an 'oh yes we have got ours, keep in touch, bye!' Not sure why, but that hurt! Still, we have never met, so why would they care? The sister has not been in touch either, so emailed her this morning to check if she has hers.Really annoyed about the whole blimmin' thing now. Their whole family is just RUDE!!This morning I did my expenses for the work last week - will not see that until the end of October, but it will be welcome when it does arrive. Made a lovely veg stew with herby sausages, and roasted rosemary apples on the side. Baked 6 chocolate doughnuts and 6 gingerbread mini-bundts for the volunteer who was 80 last week, whose surprise birthday celebration had to be cancelled due to a certain funeral. Will ice them later and take them into the staff kitchen as a surprise for him tomorrow. 80+1 week will have to do. He never married or had kids, but is just a really nice old man. At least he knows how to say please and thank you.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

The sister has not had her money yet, because she sent in her bank details last week, and now the £ has tanked, she is upset that she won't get as many Canadian $, as she would have received if she had emailed the solicitor at any point in the last 6 months like I have been asking her to. Obviously my fault. Not my circus, not my monkeys.Soon it will all be over. I just have to hang on to that thought. This is the sticky bit at the end. I am never going to hear from her brother again, he has got what he wanted. I doubt I will ever hear from the sister again to be frank once the money hits her account. I have done my bit. I am finished with the lot of them.Today DS2 is 18. I have successfully raised him to adulthood. Sadly, he is just not very pleasant. He has refused to open any presents and has taken himself off to bed after college . DH is upset by him. I know exactly what to expect from him - precisely nothing, but I have managed to keep him alive, which is no small feat when he is such a button pushing, wind-up merchant, for 18 years, and now he can vote.We are a family of 4 adults and 2 children for the first time EVER!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I can't believe the amount of work and lack of respect you have received from the relatives of your SG. Hopefully you will receive your portion soon. Do you have any specific plans or did I miss a journal entry?
Sorry to hear your DS still being a pain - just remind yourself that boys brains are not fully formed until they are past 25 - although some medical studies are now saying 30!
From Medical daily Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies have made it possible for scientists to watch the rate at which the PFC matures, and have discovered the male brain doesn't fully develop until age 25. Meanwhile, women experience a maturity rate of 21 years-old.MRIs have revealed the brain has a developmental process that tends to occur from the back of the brain to the front, which explains why the prefrontal cortex develops last. With an immature PFC, even though the person can intellectualize dangerous situation or poor behaviour, they may engage regardless. The slowness of a man's brain maturation can explain the list of maturity failings, and their own recognition and admittance of those failings.
DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

The plan is to pay off the mortgage (£75k), thus giving DH a pay rise of £560 a month, a new roof - including a small loft dormer above the main bathroom (which is currently a wasted space), 2 new bathrooms and showers, and a damp proof course and new kitchen. Those are the immediate issues. If I am careful I might have £60k left, but that is because I have managed to squirrel away a lot of savings with not being able to do anything or go anywhere for the last 3 years (or bloody kids bloody school trips, or losing full PE kits within 48 hours) . Solar panels are on the cards and definitely solar water heating as I have a large (but skinny) quantity of south facing red brick over 3 storeys that is crying out to be used as a heat radiator - which would leave me just under £50k and vastly reduced fuel bills. But again I am paralysed by fear of getting it wrong, and the economic climate is terrifying me. I need to bite the bullet and do it. So send me brave vibes - I have been given 2 recommendations for building firms that have done friends' extensions.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Go for it! You have been saving for a purpose and sg's money means you can do it sooner. No one can predict the economic climate, but the works would improve your quality of life.As would sending DS2 to the workhouse!!Along with ds1!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5
