The funds are available!!Transferred £24,000 to DH today, will transfer another £24,000 tomorrow and the last £25,000 on Wednesday (I am not paying a CHAPS fee, I object!) and he can pay the mortgage off from his bank account (it is with the mortgage bank) with no transfer charge. That will leave us mortgage free, and I will still have £99k in the bonk. Can't wait to tell @julicorn over on the Mortgage-Free board, it will muck up her spreadsheet something rotten
In a nice way though. The redemption charge is basically 16 months of interest - and we have 28 months left on our fix until we could pay it off fee free, so it is cheaper to take the £1,600 hit and do it now. DH got quite excited when I said we would be Mortgage-Free by the weekend.

Congratulations F0xh0les (obv rather sad SG is no longer with us but she did have a good innings and pretty much did things her way right up until exit stage left and head to the pearly gates so can't ask much more than that).
It must be an incredible feeling. I worried myself sick last night at what our payments would be based on today's rates. Silly as we are still on a fixed deal and who knows what the world will look like by the time that it up...which obviously means I can imagine all the worst case scenarios and more now 🤦♀️Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
