Cripes I didn't realise the radio stations had gone for gloom too, i'm annoyed at them curtailing various comedy/entertainment series until after shes in the ground & thinking that the rest of the world isn't going to be discussing the results, strangely enough in this internet age spoilers are everywhere & i'm pretty sure QE2 would have wanted a tad more to keep on trucking. I went out friday & had stuck my Six soundtrack in the car so I'll keep that on loop for a bit longer yet, royal adjacent but at least its upbeat.

I'm also a tad unimpressed that Monday went from 'its not an official bank holiday, employers aren't obliged to give you the day off' rather swiftly to the entire country (except supermarkets on the route) shutting down, again

Can I just say how relieved I am to know that I'm not the only person in the country who isn't lying prostrate with grief surrounded by royal photos and stuffed corgis!!!
DH thinks all the pomp is because a load of silly men want to dress up in silly clothes.
( Don't answer the door, it might be the rozzers coming to arrest us for ' disrespect ')

Apparently pointing out to folk she was indeed of an age many of us would be grateful to reach, and had the very best of everything throughout life does not make up for the 70yrs she sacrificed for the empire does not go down well..neither does pointing out 'well if it was so awful, she could've abdicated like her Uncle'

Well I hope you all know we are now  all on a (realistically, probably 'another' in my case) g0vt watchlist.  

Oh, and we are all going to hell too.    She was the head of the CoE after all.

But in jolly good company at least.   It is all getting a bit ridiculous when the C.E.O of £land feels the need to email me to tell me it will be closed because of the funeral - Puh-lease!!  - I hope everyone is getting paid for the imposed B.H.  day off. That would be a bigger, more significant sign of respect for their workforce, in the middle of a C.o.L. crisis, than cutting a day's wages for a woman who never even shopped in your store.

The Lying In State makes me wonder if Mr K1pling is going to make a memorial fondant fancy in those colours.  Every time the plinth comes on tv I want a battenberg.

Whilst I appreciate her years of service and duty, (who else would sit through years and years of the Royal Variety Show without committing hara kiri?) I am completely tributed out. If I want to watch a line of cars driving extremely slowly for mile upon interminable mile, I will go and stand by roadworks on the M1.

I'm just sorry that she was way too nice to put a knee where boris wouldn't appreciate it!  I mean fancy having to tolerate that person once a week.  There must have been times she was actually grateful for covid.  I did think that some of her later engagements were designed to avoid some things as in okay on Monday bad on wed.  Much to my surprise I had a couple of moments when I felt quite sorry for Charles having to stand in.  I will never forgive him for his engagement interview.

9hrs to queue now, how on earth do all these people have all this time to stand in a queue.

I did just see a wicked funny comment by someone saying they should put the coffin in a car and drive it the length of the queue...job done far more efficiently.

Its sad but as pointed out she had a bloody good innings, I figured if she could last 12 months after Phil departed she'd have done well. After the last 2+ years of the global lurgy we can ill afford to shut down & cancel a tonne of appointments, operations etc again.

& just remember folks we will get to do all this again in the next 20 ish years when KC3 shuffles off

I'm of the opinion that she knew exactly what she was doing being it Scotland at the time of her passing.
