Got a bill from the solicitors! For all the work they have not done (honestly they have filled in 4 forms as far as I can tell)  - bill due £6k. Robbers.

Had a look at the 'costs' they plan to deduct, and there is already a £300 item that should not be there, and as I have not received an itemised bill from the conveyancing solicitor, I said I could not approve their payment until that has been received and checked by .. erm.... well, moi!  

DH returned home last night, ate, was awake for 2 hours, went to bed, and left again at 9am. 

The laundry is on the line, another in the machine, emails have been sent.  The postal strike is off because of the Royal death, so things might get to NI sooner.

DH came home Sunday night, tired, grumpy, achy, and proceeded to snore all night.  He woke up tired and grumpy. He is away again on Friday til Sunday night - at least I will get some sleep!

The (Ex-?)Queen's Funeral will be on the day we were planning on having a surprise 80th birthday at volunteering.  Volunteering is cancelled, might have an early celebration on Thursday.  Happy Nearly 80th Birthday William!!

Child benefit went in yesterday (thank you!) and expenses were paid for Grad job this morning (thank me!) it will be a double payday at the end of the month, 1 x work jobs (6 days worth ) plus DH's payment.  2 days work this month will come to me end of October.

Wrote to the auction house yesterday requesting payment for items disposed of. £250 coming my way

Am sorting out some silver and gold to take with me to The Jewelry Quarter - might as well when I am going there anyway for work, 2 birds with one train ticket.

Hoping that my association with the solicitors will be ended within the next 10 days.  At this point I am nearly ready to pay them to never have to deal with them again.   Google reviews will be a godsend.  They have submitted their bill, there is a £5k discrepancy in the bank accounts funds (possible interest?  One was an ISA one a 2 year fixed saver, but still, £5k??)

One £325 item that should not be there.   Should hear something back today.  Fingers crossed.

Yes, finally it seems to be happening.  Five and a half months so far it has taken. Can't wait for it to be over.

I have just approved the accounts for the estate and a cheque should be forthcoming this week.  Huzzah!

Today I received the cheque from the auction house - £259.  Gone into the bank via the photo-app.

Hopefully the solicitor's cheque will arrive tomorrow.

I keep checking in on the Queen vigil, just to see if she is going to make a comeback.  No other reason for all those armed guards around a coffin unless N0sferatu is expected.  They might as well play the Jaws theme tune.

I really hope that from 5pm on Monday they can play real music on the radio again.  Never really consciously realised how much music lifted my mood during the day.

Ken Bruce on radio 2 said, 'and if you liked that song, we will probably play it again in 20 minutes'  -  it is like they have a list of prescribed songs (U2's One?  honestly?? not even on a bad day!!) and they will play them on loop even if they lose every ounce of integrity  they ever held.  

Fantasizing about the look on KC's face if TQ rises again from the crypt is all that is keeping me going.  Q.Cons. Camilla can't help walking around with a huge smile on her face - she has obviously already picked out her curtains.

I hope the funeral goes well, the sun shines, and E- II has a great wake, but all this filing past the coffin and 5 miles of queueing is frankly bonkers.  The Divine Right of Kings seems to be alive and well and living in the UK PLC.

Doff cap, tug forelock, curtsey twice, Brexit bonus, the honesty of being poor bonkers.

I refuse to 'accept my place', stay in my lane, and genuflect to an empty crown worth millions,  laid on a curtain, over a (probably empty)  box surrounded by Beefeaters and Bearskins.  For 12 days they are going to try and convince me there is  total - full on national mourning, while  we are still being expected to trot off to work, although parliament does not have to sit, but we cannot be allowed to play Drowning Pool's 'Bodies' and we should just put up with U2 and Phil Flippin Collins.

I appreciate the musical talents of Embrace, Elbow and Snow Patrol as much as the next person, but by the time Radio X were trawling the archives for suitable b-sides on Saturday I switched off.
And what is it about the same 'sombre tone' all the presenters had to adopt. Is there a module on that in Radio Presenter qualifications or whatever they do? It's one tone away from Paul '1,2,3 you're back in the room ' McKenna. 
Ohh now there's a thought, imagine him hypnotising the crowds as they file past, have them all doing Monty Ps ministry of funny walks, or the Monkees walk....
