Should we send emergency chocolate? (For you - the rest of them can fend for themselves)3
-
Can't taste anything, chocolate would be wasted on us. Having said that, I have 2 bars in the pantry hidden from sight.Well, did my first online shop (£40 for free delivery, I spent £41) in nearly 18 months I think. Did not bother with veg, just pasta, milk, and sandwich fillings really. Because I am one of those 'nutter preppers' DH has just found out about - I told him he was married to one and he just looked utterly confused.I have enough tea and coffee and hot chocolate and plain and self raising flour, and chapatti, and bread flour to keep us until after Xmas. I also have a bar of fondant icing and a bar of marzipan just in case I needed to whip up a quick celebration cake. Tins of chick peas, beans, tomatoes, peanut butter and red lentils happily sit, non judgementally, on the shelves. We buy rice in a 10kg sack. We have 4 different types of rice. We buy oil in 5 litre bottles He can be in as much denial about my Prepper nature as he likes. He was glad of the hot water bottles as well. The thing I have just noticed, is that I have been fully vaxxed for less than 4 months and still have covid. So maybe there is a new strain out there.Just be careful and step up the hand washing, and avoid children!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Being fully vaxxed doesn't stop you getting it, although it reduces the chance. It does reduce the chances of you getting it badly, getting long covid, or passing it on. But doesn't eliminate them.
I first realised I'd lost my sense of taste when I felt well enough to eat chocolate and it tasted like candlewax. Wine was another issue. Back then it wasn't listed as a symptom. I only realised I'd lost my sense of smell when it came back, and it turned out that all the fish I'd been cooking over the previous couple of months had actually smelled of fish... Luckily lockdown meant no one was visiting - and last summer was so hot and sunny I could keep all the windows open for months on end!
I'm amazed you can keep so many supplies in given how much your boys seem to eat - but then again, I guess that's why you keep ingredients7 -
Glad you have lots of supplies in. Hope you don't feel any worse f0xh0les, hope taste and smell returns fairly soon and DH gets better too. I know lots of people who have had Covid over the past few months, some fully vaxxed months earlier, some just had second vaccine, some unvaccinated (because too young at the time). Severity of symptoms varied too. My DD1 was exhausted for about 3 weeks (unvaccinated) her dad felt a bit poorly for a day (had 2nd jab the week before he got ill). There doesn't seem any pattern to it. I just wish the Govt would put Plan B into action!

Hope you all recover OK, I am looking to get my booster vax asap after your house of woe tales.. Its just a case of bad luck as I am sure you have been doing your very best. I am not around kids much which probably helps my covid free status
DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Aw no f0xh0les. I'm so sorry to hear that the Covid has reached chez f0x... Hope that you're all feeling as ok as you can. Yours and dh symptoms sound a lot like my ds symptoms. He has a bit of a cough now too but it was definitely the headache and aches getting the better of him at the beginning.
It's odd how it spreads and who gets it etc. I was thinking it was inevitable I would get something (5 months since I had my second dose) but day 8 for ds and dd and I are both still negative on the lft. Is it really wrong of me to hope that this has put your outlaws off from ever wanting to visit you again?
Take care of yourself - lots of love to you and your boys. And I hope karma catches up with your outlaws...

My post about how vaccines work has been removed by MSE as "medical advice isn't allowed". So now it looks like @greenbee has replied to a ghost XD"You won't bloom until you're planted" - Graffiti spotted in Newcastle.

I have a feeling mine has gone too @VintageHistorian ... I'd quite like guidance on the difference between 'science' and 'medical advice'. I wasn't aware that either of us were straying into the latter...6

I know it is only 65% effective at stopping transmission between humans, but I am sitting here, listening to The Saj Man talking about sacking everyone in the NHS if they do not have a vaccine, and how getting a vaccine is going to stop people giving it to other people, and completely ignoring the fact that it is a plastic apron, not a silver bullet. Daily testing is still needed.DH has spent the last 3 days in bed, with total brain fog, shivering and feverish, unable to eat, or even walk down a flight of 11 stairs without having to sit down on stair 6 to stop feeling dizzy. He is on day 7 of his isolation. He is asleep right now. He managed to be upright for an hour. It is painful to watch, and the school still wanted DS3 to go in, so I have ordered him a postal PCR which will give me 48-72 hours leeway for authorised absence. The secretary changed her tone completely when I said we were double jabbed and had still caught it.Then she agreed it would be best to get another PCR by post and we would take it from there.Nice to know that in the midst of a pandemic they are still threatening court action for unauthorised absence, (insert rude word).4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
