SMUG POST

The only tomatoes eaten in my house this week have been from the pots outside, and I have another courgette and 2 cucumbers and plenty more tomatoes ready for picking tomorrow.

I have experimented with chia seeds - I made chocolate chia pudding - it is okay - but surprisingly DS4 absolutely loves it, so I have portioned it up into old g00 pots so he can't do himself an injury (very high fibre, apparently) and topped it with raspberries. He could be eating worse things! Will try with custard powder next time as I picked up a couple of punnets of cherries for 39p each, vanilla and cherry puddings on the dieting menu.

I have put on a lb, not going to beat myself up about it, it will come off again.

Today is house cleaning day. Laundry load 3 is ready for the line, the bins went out, the recycling has gone out. The boys have all been told to clean their rooms and make their beds..... we'll see how that goes.

The freezer is nearly empty - currently holds 4x tofu, 1/4 pack mince, peas, corn, 12 pittas, and garlic cubes.

The fridge is nearly empty - makings of a coleslaw, and lots of random ends of jars of pickles and jam + lots of butter (y/s for no clearly apparent reason), and some cheese that got frozen to the back of the fridge and went grainy.

Just froze the sad bananas too - because they would not keep much longer in this heat, and I am having one in a milkshake for breakfast every day and loving it. The Community Fridge is always full of bananas, they have come such a long way I can't just leave them!

Cherries have gone into a cherry and coconut loaf cake....berries have gone into a berry loaf cake, both have just come out of the oven. Pasta has been cooked and tossed in pesto (DS2s favourite meal).

Wondering what on earth to do with 3 pomegranates though....

With what I have left in the house I could make a pizza, I could make a dahl, I could make a spag bol, I could make a huge pan of tofu noodle miso soup, I could make hummous - I do love a store cupboard meal!

A shopping list will be needed at some point - we are out of all drinks except Corporation Pop (that is tap water for the children amongst you), out of salad, out of bread, out of crackers, out of oats, and someone has been through my basket of 'work suitable kettle food' and eaten some bits. I told them last week, and the week before, that it was absolutely NOT for them.

So annoyed!

Whole week of work done! Got another couple of days next week after the BH weekend. Won't get paid til end of September though (boo!). 99% of people were very happy.

School goes back on Wednesday.

One of my fave old men volunteer friends died last week. Going to miss him so much.

Tax code has changed now I have 2 employers - last week I had 3 employers and they didn't change it but hey ho!

I need to process my donated food supplies from another old man volunteer who gave me a big bag of cooking apples. Need to do an inventory/menu plan/ shopping list.

Send a few work emails this morning - was awake at 5am again.

It is colder here today. I cannot remember the last time the living room was less than 20 degrees, but it is now.

It is dark when I wake up too. Winter is around the corner, but there is still a little bit of time before Autumn hits. Also need to go and check on my plants, and see what needs some attention.

An embryonic plan is forming.
