I'm now allergic to shiitake mushrooms. I'm too scared to check whether it's still the case or try other mushrooms. Mind you, that didn't happen until about 12 months in...

In 'Well we could not have possibly predicted that!! News,  both inlaws tested positive yesterday.

They have decided to spend as much time outside doing gardening as possible to get over it quickly.

Still in denial of being in their 70's, or that it will be worse than a head cold.

Are they back at their home now or still visiting people?  I guess at least they have tested and acknowledged they have it even if they think they will just spend it catching up on the gardening.

How are you all feeling now?

They travelled back to where they came from on Monday. Tested positive on Friday.  Poor DH still has D (without the V) and so cannot stop isolating according to test and trace, and is still coming down with chills and feverish symptoms, after 12 days.  So until he is 48 hours without symptoms he has to stay home.  He is knackered, still has to go and lie down a couple of times a day. Mentally exhausted. Physically useless.

Today coffee tasted normal (happy dance!!!) not been brave enough to go anywhere near an onion yesterday.

Sent DS3 and 4 out to the petrol station to buy a bag of potatoes, they came home with a bag of Aunti Bessi's frozen roast potatoes.  £2.50 !!  Not got the sense they were born with.

Oh bless DS3 / DS4. They will learn. At least they attempted to get something,  although I am amazed that being brought up in F0xh0le Manor they even know what an Aunt B frozen spud is.

They didn't. They had to be explained. They thought they were being clever buying a frozen potato, as they would last longer than a  fresh one  ...... I sent them back out to buy a 2.5kg bag.... of.... potatoes  for £1.39 (corner shop prices) instead of an 800g monstrosity for £2.50.

Oh dear! More training required before they can be let out into the world again. 

Speaking of which,  how's DS1 managing?

Fine, he has joined a few societies and is having a lovely time.  He only has 2 face to face lectures, and 2 online ones, a week, as he is doing his foundation year, and not having any problems with it - or so he says.   He is still exploring his area, someone tipped him off as to where the c/shops are, so wanted to go to some of those this week.
