It was B0rders dark chocolate gingers- she is an utter, utter brand snob
. I found them this morning and remembered the packaging. I think if I sent her Liddle's she would save them to throw at me next time I see her. Even though they are probably exactly the same - she is losing her sense of taste and smell so a really peppery ginger biscuit kind of hits the spot with her.
Feel on much more of an even keel today. I mean I am still stopping still when I remember T is no longer here, but the shock is wearing off. No more palpitations when I think about her. No tears yet today.Sent a family of supermarket carrots, that may or may not begin with the letter K, off to a small boy who is obsessed with him. Love the local recycling community round here - we have one page for asking for things, one that is a skill swap (seamstress requires gardener / baker requires a man + van for half an hour for a run to the tip - in return for cakes and pies / replacing zips, type thing), and one for gifting things. So when the supermarket with links to root vegetables donated (dumped) a quantity of carrot family members on us last month we were discussing how to dispose of them, so I was glad when somebody put out a call for carrots. They have now gone to a good home where they will be loved and played with, as they should be.This week has flown by. Can't believe it is Friday already. I know it was a short week but even so!I have taken out the money for next week in cash. That should stop me blowing the budget! The plans for the weekend are :menu planning with what is in the freezer and pantry already.Last coat of paint on the planters I made so that I can fill them with compost on Monday.House cleaning and hooveringLaundryPossible trip to the tip with some things that cannot be recycled, reused, or repurposed.Watch and release a few more dvds.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Glad you're having a better day today @f0xh0les, be kind to yourself.
Total brand snob, Lidl ginger stuff is delicious (and like you say prob from the same place).
What is it about short weeks that seem longer than a normal week?
Your weekend is looking very productive. Not sure what mine entails yet as seems to be lots of movable parts waiting to fall into place atm.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

A plumber once told her she should only buy 'The Labrador' Branded Loo Roll as anything else will break her toilet (???).She will not entertain any other brand. At any price. Ever. For over 40 years.Funny old duck.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Actually my mum has been told the same, not specifically about puppies but that cheap(er) toilet roll is more likely to block and cause issues. That said she's forever having plumbing issues and uses koalas so I'm not sure I buy that 🤷♀️Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Hmm.. this old BBC article suggests the opposite is true and the low priced and lower quality stuff is better! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4032595.stm

I wonder if it depends where in the system it is to determine what's 'better'. So cheap roll saturated constantly in water breaks down quickly, but cheap paper that just gets pushed into the pipe by a flush then becomes a soggy congealed heap and that's where it causes a blockage, whereas thicker paper is still not statured into a blob so gets pushed into the main sewer system more efficiently.
Wow, cannot believe my Friday night has become discussing the physics of toilet roll 🤣Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Went to bed at 11 last night, found the top floor skylight wide open, with rain forecast. So closed that up - totally forgot to bring in the dry laundry on the line (oops!) so it is having another rinse out there.Got woken up at 4am by mad scrabbling and plugging things in from the next door neighbour. Sounded like he was sanding the wall with his head. so made sure it was not one of mine (it wasn't) but DS1 was sound asleep in his bed, with his computer on, his headphones on, and his light on. Eco-terrorist!It is hammering down outside. 4 out of 5 are complaining of sore throats, coughing, and sneezing (I have not seen the other one so it might be 5 out of 6)Should get another p/a payout today, last had one on Thursday, and Monday before that. It all adds up.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

The house is clean (up to the kitchen door), it rained all night long, and for most of the morning, so I cleaned stuff instead, and then at 11.00 the sun came out, so the soggy rained on laundry dried, and more went out.lady about 10 doors across the road has started 0li0-ing, so just picked up 8 burger buns, 2 french sticks and a loaf of brown all for the princely sum of £0 and 0p. Hopefully it will become a regular thing. Supper will be burgers and salad, followed by a plum crumble and custard. Tomorrow will be pasta and garlic bread. Tuesday might just be a big veg stew and bread. My friend who died had been complaining of an annoying headache for a few days online, was a bit worried it was turning into a migraine and decided to try and sleep it off, and was found dead on the floor the next morning. Quick as that. Shows she had lovely neighbours looking out for her.Need to get to the recycling bit of the tip this week. There is a lot of stuff that needs rehoming - ie not in my homing. However, I did get an old 32" tv from a local gifting / recycling page yesterday, so my 70+ year old co-volunteer will have his own decent size tv as soon as I have tested it out properly. One man's trash really is another man's treasure.Right, can't sit here on the sofa for the rest of the day, I have root veg to roast, a crumble to bake, and a kitchen to clean, whilst watching out for heavy showers...Have a lovely Sunday.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Oh! I managed to disappear for nearly a week. That is because nothing has happened really.Cleaned and hoovered the house this morning. Emptied the bucket of rainwater in the loft. Cleaned all the bathrooms. I have 4 bags of rags for the charity clothes bins on a supermarket carpark near me to go out on Monday. DS4s school trip is on for June 25th and full steam ahead! All the diaries and calendars match (not much on, but what we have is noted down).I have 900g of fruit getting gently sozzled in a big glass bowl on top of my fridge -DS1 announced that seasonal food is stupid and would I please make him a Xmas pudding, because he loves it. So I am doing just that. Did you know that doing the hoovering is much more fun after a few tablespoons of sherry? No? Neither did I, but I do now ! Wow.All the cardboard recycling was done, and outside hiding next to the hedge in readiness for bin day. A few small items of an electronic nature are headed for the recycling part of the tip. I just need to get them out of the house.DS1 and 2 break up totally on 28th of May and that is them finished at school forever. DS1 is busy enjoying the online open days of his most favoured universities. Looks like he is actually going to go, if he gets the grades, or if he doesn't, then he has his unconditional offer to fall back on. DS2 is utterly certain he is 'smashing' his GCSE tests. He tells me every day when he gets in the car (before his brothers get in) how well he thinks he has done. So, we will see.Jobs for today are - watching the FA cup final, pantry contents inventory and menu plan based thereon, roasting a tray of BNS, onions, garlic, sweet potatoes and peppers to add to lunches next week, tomorrow I will deep clean the kitchen and dining room, and of course the tale of the laundry pile is an ongoing saga. Spot of daft TV watching - I Can See Your Voice is strangely good fun, and I will be in bed with a book and the radio by 10pm.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
