Nothing again has been achieved - unless making mice pies and plum crumbles count, or the pasties - currently in the oven baking.I got DH a vaccine appt for Tuesday. Le Shire only has a 75% take up rate of the vaccine, and there were excess vaccines for tomorrow and Tuesday - according to a f/b message on the local community page, so booked DH in - that way if he gets wiped out for a couple of days then I can take care of things, and then the next time I get a heads up about either a cancellation or excess vaccines, then I will book me in. So I booked him in 2 hours after the message I saw, I was umming and ahhing about whether we should just sit and wait, but I know lots of people younger than me who have been offered the vaccine for exactly the reason that there was an excess that needed using and age was not a consideration - and there were more than 30 vaccine slots available in the morning, and 20 mid-morning, and another 20+ in the early afternoon, and so on all day. I know the Primary Care peeps were discussing going door to door in the city trying to get people to take the vaccine there and then, on the doorstep as it were. So I know there is a real problem with people not coming forward, and there was a message that went out to say that the +45s could be vaccinated next if there was no uptake, so I do not feel too bad - it is not really queue jumping, is it?Anyway, he told some of his younger teaching colleagues, who tried it 5 hours after the message was sent out, and out of the 3 of them, they all got an appointment on Tuesday and reported there were still appointments left. What it means is that he will get his second jab on 15th June, and if everything reopens on 21st June, then Uni Open Days might go ahead this summer, and he is always front and center of those. Plus he is as covered as he can be for the return to face to face teaching. Plus d-F-i-L just had a cancerous tumour taken off the top of his head, and DH needs to be covered in case he needs to go over there and be, erm.... manly? I dunno. Anyway, it is done, and he will either be allowed it or not, when he gets there. He has still not left the house more than 5 times this year. Fingers crossed he does get it. Otherwise I fear for his mental health.Anyway, Pasties, mice pies, and a sleeping man on the sofa is what is in my imminent future. Will wake him up in a bit.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Two of the three have cancelled their appointments just in case - I can see why there are excess appointments. Even when they are trying to give them away, people will not take them. The website is too unclear.

Wow, I can see how not leaving the house would take it's toll. I prev wfh before this so everyone assumes 'oh you're used to this'. No...what you new wfh newbies are getting is an understanding of why I made an effort to leave the house before all this becasue staring at the same 4 walls all day everyday and having no switch off time makes you sad, stressed and more than a little loopy.
You've achieved more than me today, all I've done is drive to the pub to collect our takeaway roast and eat it.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Not sure how old your DH is but MrPorridge got his yesterday at 48, quite legitimately, contacted by surgery to make an appointment in near to you Staffordshire so Dh should definitely take the opportunity for his.Mortgage Free 23 December 2020

He is 46 (and a half) @Porridgecat - it was just that the message I found was on the community f/b page for the very local area, and there is a hoaxy f/b queue jumping scam going around. I am fine, and am happy(ish) to wait for another couple of weeks or so, but he is not coping. He is my priority.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Bl00dy man has cancelled his appointment tomorrow (just in case he gets turned away) as he does not want to go into a Covid Hotspot if he does not have to.

I feel your frustration - I agree its a bit wrong headed. if you have made an appointment based on their text, I'm sure you won't get turned away. People going into a clinic have generally been very well behaved from all I have seen. Good luckI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Every hour up until 10pm he told me he was going to cancel his appt - I finally snapped and said then he would be responsible for a vaccine being wasted as they would not be able to fill his appt slot at such short notice, and we booked him in because we did not want the vaccine wasted. He decided he would go 'just in case' - he went in had the jab was home before 10am and is blaming the website for being unclear! All 3 of his colleagues cancelled, and are regretting it now, and have asked to be given the heads up if there are any more advertised (GRRRRRRR!!!).Suddenly DH is rather chipper, and quite smiley, and it is our 5th Housiversary today. He is thinking of applying for a job in .......... Belfast (which would make ALL the old people so ridiculously happy).I have £17k of savings as of today, DH has £10k.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I am glad for YOUR sanity that DH when and had his vaccine.
How do you feel about a potential move to Belfast?

I think a move to NI would be more work for me, but less stress - everyone (old) would be within an hour's drive if there was an emergency, his parents are in their 70s, F-i-L mentioned getting very forgetful, and people getting angry with him for not socially distancing plus he has just had spot of skin cancer removed. - but then again they could happily go on plaguing the life out of me for the next 30 years.
I do not think there is any harm at all in going for the job, it is not a forever thing. It is just another stepping stone. I have no real roots, so it would just be the next fun and thrilling ride to go on. Another bit of the world to explore, although I know that bit of the world anyway.
Today is our 5th Housiversary (yes, that is a real thing). I need to get on with fixing stuff and getting stuff fixed.Just sat outside at the little glass bistro table for 15 minutes and had a cuppa with DH (totally different man with a vaccine in him) in the sunshine.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
