Help you cookery experts. We had potatoes in France, sliced in like a cream sauce, I thought they said they were Potato Dauphine, but the receipes on the web show them as cooked and mashed, any idea what they were?

Found it now Gratin Dauphinois I always though Gratin referred to cheese, but this doesn't.

    Thanks

Hello everyone, <hugs> to those who need one or would like one.

Am just having a quick 5 minutes. I've spent the day making Creole Cakes, and juicing apples for cider. 4 cakes are made and cooling, last two are in the oven, fridge suddenly very empty as there were 6 tubs of fruit poaching in alcohol there.

DH picked 39 kilos (85 pounds) of apples from one of our trees, and we've just finished turning it into juice for cider. It took hours! I washed the apples, DH quartered them and then put them in a bucket chopper thingy, then I used a processor with a fruit press attachment to squeeze out all the lovely juice. Everything now washed up and put away, and the units and floor have been washed thoroughly. It's amazing where those bits of apple end up!

Forgot to get Turbot out of freezer for dinner, tbh I'm too shattered anyway. I think we might have to resort to a takeaway

Need cup of tea in the meantime, catch you all tomorrow...

  • Hi folks ,Just got back from East Grinstead its an 90 mile round trip so I'm feeling a bit cream-crackered even though my Shelly drove. The best news is she hasn't got to go back as the results of her mole were clear so thats another worry out of the way.I am sitting in my Pjs as I'm going to have a light supper then off for a rest in bed I have a tv/dvd player in there so if I can't sleep(unlikely at the moment as I can't stop yawning) then I can watch something in bed.My hairdresser is coming tomorrow first thing to give me a nice short and easy to manage hairstyle ,as then the grandkids won't notice it so much when it starts to go.
I shall have to stock up on the Mr Sheen I think, the positive side is I shall save a fortune on shampoos and conditioners for a little while .Well time to go,have a good evening folks

Back again with coffee in hand and aching legs. Never did do standing. I have an extra king size quilt cover left and a couple of bits in the dryer, but I've had enough. Call me a wimp if you like, after 20 years of not having to iron 2 hours in any one day is not bad going on my scale.;)

Just put some mince in the slow cooker to make a mince cobber to take with us for tomorrow's tea in the 'van. We take it in turns with our friends, so we get a day and/or weekend off each. It was my weekend off last week, so hers this. Though to be honest she is more of a natural cook and ofter mucks in as she cannot sit. She is on WW so I've fried the fat off the mince, and will have to have it without the cobber top. We usualy diet together, but she started while I was on holiday and I will hop on the band wagon after next weeks visitors.

Today will be grilled butchers own 100% beef burger and sausage, with potato croquettes and beans. not very HE but quick and easy, and DH's type of dinner if not having such as above. Bought Apple Crumble for afters, (I know but not organised from holidays yet. Will get Chef out later to make the cobber top, and will make some pastry while its out (Mum's very old one).

Got DS a pair Calvin Klein underpants at £1.70 delivered via a HotUKDeals link. He is home this weekend to go to the St Leger with his friends and will not be going back until Monday so we will see him for a short time. I considered not going this weekend, but he will be arriving late Friday off out by lunchtime Saturday and not home until late, and we will be home by the time he is up on Sunday so decided to go anyway.

    Enough waffle.
    Take care

  • hi all

have tried to catch up on the daily today but cant concentrate much today, it has been a rubbish day, lo has been in a mood for most of the day, the worst thing he did was tip the telly off the stand in the living room, complete with photo frame and a digi box! the tv weighs a ton, it just missed landing on him:eek: my back was turned for a minute and i have no idea how he managed it either!!

not feeling so good today, feeling really dizzy and my head feels all woozy, need to see dr again i think, thanks for the concern last night grannybroon:o

and to top it off the computer crashed again and had to wipe the hard drive again, just as well i uploaded 200 pics last night on a photo site!

Not amused at all with dh, he has threatened to cancel our hols if i dont get my health sorted before that, i am trying! 20 days to go, not that im counting:D

aussie - i love the pics, just ignore mum she's just jealous:rotfl:

os wise today, hmm does eating hobnobs count?:rotfl:

    Evening all!

I am really tired! Work and going out last night did it to me! Went out with my friends last night to a fabulous Veggie pub in Brighton and of course a few glasses of wine! One of my friends had made me a scary birthday card with me on the front...eek! It was nice though as one of my friends from outside of that friendship group came, and she loved the others, yay.

Not been up to much OSing this week, been too tired to really. Need to do the DW and hang some washing up, clean the hamster out, put bm on and sort dinner-I think that we'll have hm pizza tonight, yummy.

Off to see my family this weekend and must remember to see the Dr after work tomorrow for a meds top up and to arrange some more blood tests.

Have just been looking at the new stuff on the M&S website-they now do an 'extra long' leg and clothes for tall ladies, which I'm really chuffed about! Have added a couple of bits to my wishlist on there, so hope they are still in the shops when I've got some money!

Cuppa and Hollyoaks for me now

    Hugs to those who need/want

Edit: Urghhhh, no Thanks button for me today :(

Ooo dannahaz, I have got an apple tree in my garden, which we get loads of apples off of, I would love to have a go at cider, could you tell me how you do it ?

Thanks to all for good wishes re OH, he went to hosp, and had it cleaned out and stiched, he said he could see all the tendons and musscles  the Dr said to him that if it was 2mm further over it would have been fatal.
He is ok though, but cant get it wet so I have lost my washer upper ;);)
