Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 13th Sept '07. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Goodmorning everybody,
Well it's been a while since I started the thread. Been busy in the kitchen this morning. Caught up with the ironing this arv & just pottering around waiting for DGS to arrive. DH arrived home just before lunch from work. He's in the yard making sure I didn't kill anything.
Got a letter from the council today. They are coming over here Monday and will need to come into our yard. We are going to get a bitumen road, curb & channeling. :jNo more clouds of dust as everybody roars by on the dirt road. I think it will start next year, this is just for the survey but at least I know it's going to happen.
Where are you Snowy ? Hope you're fine. (((((hugs))))
Happy Birthday purpleprincess
Have a great day everyone, will pop back later. Byeeeeeeeee

morning all...:D...been to bed and tossed and turned most of night so got up...going to cut the grass today...if it needs it...general tidy round in the garden and the house...hunt for some bargain's...backing-up my computer as I have just ordered vista to go on it...so need to back everything up for a clean install...have been trying to put a slide show of my pictures together then add some music to it...not going to well at the mo...but I'll get the hang of it I guess...I usually do eventually...just take's me abit longer nowadays...I am sure it's quite simple really...anyway learning something new everyday...I had this bright idea of buying my brother and SIL this digital photo frame for christmas and it has sound on it well speakers and it takes mp3's so I'm guessing that if I make a slide show and put some music on it'll work...
but only time will tell...have subscribed to the windows vista offical magazine for £9.99 every quarter...and I get a free step by step guide to vista book worth £17.99 at waterstones for being a new customer...so I am hoping to learn new things when that arrives and I can get vista up and running...hope everyone has a great day...:D cw...happy birthday to everyone...and morning to everyone else...
Pls be nice to all MSer's

Morning. Off to work today and then a few days off. Last of the inquest today, potentially newsworthy, so need to get my best suit and tie on.
Nothing much lese to report. I have to magic up 4 packed lunches in a moment. There seems to be a shortage of stuff however. Could not be bothered to shop yesterday...
Well not much to say.... cheersNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning Guys!
Didnt have a good night. I think I am worrying about tomorrow:rolleyes: Friend is having DD from school tomorrow till Sunday, so that we dont have to worry and she can still attend the part Saturday even if we cant.
Beds have been stripped and a load in the WM. Cleaner is here today, so nothing to do. DW has been emptied.
DD has school pics today, so they dont have to go in till 9am instead of 8am. We are taking her out for breakfast in a bit to a lovely Cafe we found the other week looking out over the park.
My Boyds bear I ordered from the states came this morning. I love the "best dressed" ones but are quite pricey. I managed to buy this one including delivery from the US for under a tenner:D ...I love the dollar rate ATM. I have another mate in NYC ATM and he's bringing me back some DKNY Red Apple perfume which is about £18 a bottle ATM.
Anyway, hugs to all.
Happy Birthday Purple Princess

Good Morning Aussielass, Amie399 and computer woman and all to follow .I had a really good night almost 6 hours without a break and am feeling bright as a button:rotfl: As someone who has slept for about only 2-3 hours at a time for several months, last night was whizzy wonderful.I feel so much better, lets hope I am not flagging by lunchtime.
Well i have to pick up my grandson again this morning from the studios at about 10.30.a.m.then I gues he will charm me into another breakfast bless him. After I drop him home I will pop into Mt T's and get a few bits then back to my house.I will make a flask and a couple of sarnies as I have to pick up DD at 12.15 as we are trundling off to East Grinstead where she will get the results of her mole removal that she had done 4 weeks ago ,fingers crossed that all is well. Its amazing sometimes how educated people can be a bit dense ,when she went for her perliminary tests she was asked by the eminent surgeon, who was going to operate on her leg, how long she had had this mole. She replied correctly 39 years,9months and a few days .He looked at her and said ,quite seriously 'you seem very sure of the actual time scale ', she replied 'Of course I am I was born with it' He looked a bit blank, and then said 'Oh yes,I see what you mean' doh:rotfl: :rotfl: Education is a grand thing ain't it
its a good hour and a half to the hospital so I am going to have a long day ,but I didn't want her to go on her own as she has been so good to me .
I have been pondering what colour to do my walls in the conservatory, the plaster seems to have dried out nicely now.My pal who came to visit me on Tuesday said if I get the paint, and do her favourite lunch, she will do it for me.She is such a nice person and I said I would be happy to feed her anyway.Another problem solved.Once its emulsioned, my son-in-law said he will put down a new wooden floor for me as at the moment it is tiled and a bit slippery in the winter if it gets water or any moisture on it.
I sat and finished off my Sally Morgan book called My Place in there yesterday and it was so nice .(both the conservatory and to book :rotfl: ) Brilliant book and I recommend it to anyone .About three generations in an aboriginal family in Australia.Very sad how the government treated its indiginous people back in the early part of the last century.
It looks as though I will be doing a lot of reading, so as my bookshelves get read, I have being putting the books into a big crate. When full it will go to the charity shop. I have about2-3 hundred books in my house that I have just never got around to reading, but have bought over the years .I can't resist a book shop.Nowadays its the second hand ones though.
I used to have a friend who was rather posh and she would never get a book from the library as she said'You never know what sort of people have touched it before me!' :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: a real Hyacinth Bucket type .So when she moved to a 'naicer area' she donated to me all her books that she had read, and didn't want to take with her .
I never look a gift horse, or a daft old woman in the mouth .:rotfl: :rotfl:
I rarely see her now as I am not in her 'inner sanctum' but I'm not too bothered, as she did annoy me at times with her silly ways. Rather sad really, as underneath all her daft ideas I think she was rather lonely and insecure. She had come from a basically dog-rough family in east London and had done her darndest to forget her roots .She had 'ironed out' her accent and definitely thought she was of the upper-crust.Her husband was what she termed a water engineering expert .I would have called him a plumber, but hey whatever floats her boat, and he had got his own business.Theres nowt so queer as folk is there?
Well time to get that kettle boiling for my morning cuppa, take care all and Happy Birthday to Purple Princess:rotfl: :bdaycake: :bdaycake: :bdaycake: :rotfl:
and <<<hugs to those who need them ... and a bigfor the rest of you
Have a great day

JackieO, it's brilliant that you had a good nights sleep, I feel like a wet rag if I don't get my 8 hours:rotfl: Hope your DDs results are OK. your house sounds like mine, I have books everywhere and if I could read one a day they would probably last several years
Our water is being turned off today, so no washing machine today, so will go shopping instead.
:bdaycake: happy birthday to anyone who has one today, hope everyone else has a good day xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

Good morning everyone! Thanks for your good wishes for DD yesterday. She's not been sick again, but looks a bit brighter. Good job that she went to school yesterday, not only was she invited to a concert and a party, she found that she'd been elected senior prefect. She's very excited; I need to buy a new tie
Went to visit a friend yesterday - she gave be a bag of Bonne Maman jam jars :T They are my very favourite for jam making. I also went to the market and got a lot of lovely fresh vegetables. Made a chicken and veg pie for tea, and a fruit loaf - will be having a slice of that for breakfast, when I'm back from my run.
Happy Birthday *purpleprincess* :bdaycake:
Was delighted to be invited to Frogga's next June. I've never been to Ipswich, and have always wanted to visit Sutton Hoo :j :rotfl:
JackieO - enjoy your reading :T
Donny gal - best wishes for the funeral.
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0
