OP what are you really suggesting is going on here? Cut to the chase.0

If I was the girls parents I would be happy that she had lied about the booking- but I'm confused as to why she would lie in the first place.
Do you mean you wouldn't be happy?Andypandyboy wrote: »OP what are you really suggesting is going on here? Cut to the chase.
Yeah I'm wondering that too.Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

I've taken my daughter and her friend away for 4 nights before, we had a family room for the 3 of us, no problems - but there were plenty of beds for everyone.

Absolutely. The tone of the OP's first and subsequent posts all suggest he's implying a sinister purpose to the mother's actions, without backing it up in any way.0 -

Is she OK with the situation?
What does the daughter's friend think about sleeping in the same bed?Andypandyboy wrote: »OP what are you really suggesting is going on here? Cut to the chase.0 -
How would you know for sure there isn't a sofa? When I first booked a cruise for me and my kids I wondered how they could allocate for three when there was only room for two single and certainly not to open the sofa up until we were the and was told the extra bed opened up from the ceiling.0

Precisely a family room is usually no dearer then a double. You just have less floor space as the sofa/chair is the third/fourth bed or removed to fit a cot

Bit of a weird story for me to make up.
Anyway. Clearly I should have made it clear that I am not implying that these girls are at risk in my first post. I did clarify in a subsequent post but the confusion persists. Sorry about that.
I wanted to get a consensus of whether it is appropriate for a 50 year old woman to be sharing a bed with a young teenage girl, after she had told the girl's parents that she would have a separate room.
I maintain that this is inappropriate and if I was a parent of the girl I would be annoyed. Apparently many of you don't see the problem, so that's fine too.0 -
I have stayed in hotel rooms over maximum occupancy a few times, usually at weddings - there have been 8 of us in a double room before (The floor is great for sleeping on!)
Also triple rooms can be a lot dearer than doubles - I was booking a triple for my mum recently, and the only triple I could get was in Jurys Hotel for £100, I could have got a double in the holiday inn or ibis or indepent hotels for £50 or £60!0
