  • I think it's unlikely that she has any intention to sexually abuse the girls.

She's odd in the sense that she thinks this is appropriate because she thinks she's their friend. She is absolutely not.

In her mind she thinks they are going to have fun - 3 girls giggling. Instead the daughter and the friend will feel very awkward.

Then your wife should have a quiet word and put her straight to save embarrassment for the girls and MIL from looking foolish.

Wouldn't the hotel query 3 people in a double room?

I don't know, I wasn't there when they checked in.

I agree. Thinking about it, there's no WAY that you would be able to book 3 people into a double room. Something isn't adding up here.

Sounds to me like you have other issues with MIL.

You are not suggesting impropriety, just a woman trying to hang onto her youth and being a friend rather than a parent to her daughter and her friend.

It is up to the daughter or maybe your wife, to have a word, but given what you have said, as a parent I wouldn't be overly concerned.

There is no way a hotel would agree to a double/twin being occupied by three people no matter the age.

There would have been an arrangement for a pull out/sofa bed in the booking.

Hmmm. Booked for two but three staying. Don't think so, unless it's done on the quiet.

I agree. reading between the lines, it sounds like there is something more to it than what we're hearing in this thread.

I agree. As I said earlier. I don't know what's going on - probably nothing, and the lady is probably hoping for a girly night with 2 teens. (Bit odd but whatever floats her boat!) But she must have known it was only a double room. There's no way she 'accidentally' booked a double room for 3 people.

So I didn't feel it necessary to ask how the hotel agreed to let them in.

Maybe they stayed in the car while she picked up the keys. I don't know.

Apparently there is just no WAY to evade hotel policy so this must be made up.

End of the day you can not book three people into a double room

There is usually a chair or sofa bed or a cot if required
