Project Mortgage Neutral Begins

I was away on the 1st so did what money shuffles I could on my phone and have just caught up now. £720 OPd to the mortgage, that may be the last large OP on this house but it depends how long it takes to sell. Hopefully I can continue £500 a month OPs as we are budgetted for £450. The figures really are speaking for themselves though, at the beginning of February our total mortgage finally went below £100k and now March's payments have cleared we are below £98k. It does help with council tax free months but in a month's time we will already be another £1000 lower and all of it helps towards each of our future deposits (even though they will be different amounts).MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I cannot even pretend to say I have anything MSE to put in this post.
I picked up my new bike today and have done a 2.5 mile ride around the estate to get used to it. I also changed from a boot rack to roof bars which costs more money but will mean my bike is secure from thieves so I guess long term that is money saving. I am planning to do a short ride each day like today before Friday when I am planning 13 miles around one of our local lochs, hopefully with a work colleague.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Trying not to get excited but I suspect we may be getting an offer on our house in the next couple of days. Another place has come on today that I would like to have a look at which if the size works could be bought cheaper than the bungalow. I need to get back in there for a second viewing too.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

The bungalow has potential. Sitting room is a decent size, low maintenance garden and I even quite like the vanity units!
I think you did the right thing re. Conservatory. There is enough Ill will in the world without adding to it and it's much better that you broached the topic rather than risk leaving Mr AJM remembering and sending out a snippy solicitors letter to the same effect. It is to your credit, regardless of the financials.0 -
Am interested in this one too

Not sure I like the sound of the location! It might sound odd, but could you park there one evening to see how many ambulances screech by? Alternatively, the hospital might publish details on A&E admissions?0

Already I would rather be in the bungalow near a main road instead of this one but I am going to look at it from a comparison point of view.
Going to ring some roofers today to try and work out costs of repairs to make an informed offer.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I feel the world has gone a little mad today...we have accepted an offer on our house subject us both having our offers accepted. The buyers had attempted an offer slightly under what we wanted this morning but we held our nerve, told the estate agent what we would be prepared to accept (only £3k more but covers our costs) and they came back to offer our requested amount :j in a couple of days our house will officially be sold.
I have just fnished getting my mortgage decision in principle so can now offer on the bungalow. I have my second viewing tomorrow at 4pm, before then I am going to cost sorting the slight issues in the home report. I will measure up the bathroom tomorrow so I can work out if reconfiguring the furniture and getting a bath in there is feasible. I also need to double check what else I should be checking for on a second viewing. Everything else is cosmetic at this time, decoration and garden landscaping, so unsure if I can reduce my offer based on those and the possible long term idea of knocking through the kitchen and dining room is just that and would be fine if I didn't bother. Can anyone recomment what else I should look for on my second viewing please? My first house I didn't care (and Mr AJM was with me who had experience) and this one we kind of did in the wrong order but it was a part ex so it dodn't really matter. I want to get this right but also want to but forward a well-considered offer with explanations as to why I am offering what I am.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200
