    NSD yesterday :)
  • So far this month I have spent £49.92 so I'm on target. Will need to do a weekly shop at the weekend but plan to keep it to about £40. Can't think of any expensive items like meat or cleaning products that are needed so it should be doable.

Also been harvesting, prepping and freezing food from the veg patch. So far this week are peas, carrots, runner beans and rhubarb.
  • On target. Signature updated. 2 day conference. Packed lunches, flask, small cash coffee budget.
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks

Bearing in mind that the freezer's fairly full, and my target's £550 for the month, and we're nearly a week in, that's not too far off-target really; I should be able to shave a bit off the next couple of weeks. But that said, there's a trip to the Big City the other side of the Forest in prospect, to visit a certain Swedish furniture emporium, which means a trip to the Grocers of Eastern Promise, to stock up on nice rice, soy sauce, spices, dried beans & lentils, and noodles... ah well!

It's great there isn't it - I used to work in the offices next door so got to pop in all the time! They sell good spring roll rice paper wrappers - I use them for Thai style ones which you don't fry, you just fill with crunchy veg, maybe some rice noodles, tofu (or meat) if you want to, and make a spicy peanut dipping sauce to go with them... really tasty and economical as you can use cheap veg in them like grated carrots, shredded cabbage, cucu, ber cut into little sticks etc.

No, International Foods in Portswood, Southampton. Apparently there's a bigger, cheaper one in Northam (Yau Brothers) but it's hardcore, no English signs! My Chinese S-i-L has promised to take me there & help me find my way round, but it hasn't happened yet, and as we're also very fond of Indian & Middle Eastern food, a mixed store is perfect.

Not happy on the budget front; I spent another £16 at the market in our county town yesterday on fruit, veg, bread and dried Haricot beans. And have realised I'll have to spend some more today at the butchers and the supermarket, to make the things I'd planned to make tonight with the meat that I'll swear was in the freezer last week... But realistically I'm still not too far away from my target, just a bit over what I'd hoped.

Off now to dig further down the freezer in the hope that the mince has just slipped down, but suspecting that it may have wandered off to a BBQ with DS3, who works for the church. Which seems to involve a lot of beach BBQs...

Spent 8.28 in MrT today, which brings my total spend mtd 133.75, leaving me 186.25 of my 320 budget!

I cleaned out my fridge yesterday (flylady list) and I've wrote what I need to use up, so will just be top up shops to eat around contents of fridge.
