  • Few shops and another lunch for OH already sees us down another £51.02.
Total so far £99.53. £100.47 left. Epp, already nearly half the budget spent .
Did our main monthly shop yesterday and OH bought his lunch again today. Total of that comes to £59.02.
£158.55/£200 so far so that means £41.45 left. For the rest of the month. I can't see us coming within our budget but I'm not giving up.
Fridge, freezer and cupboards are pretty much full and there is a meal plan in place for the whole month.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D
  • Tightwizard meat wandering off made me laugh! I went to make grilled cheese sandwiches last night and found no cheese. My son!!
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Oh I know that feeling, milasavesmoney! I've resorted to stealth cheese - one packet placed obviously in the fridge, and one hidden - when the obvious packet's running out, they slow up & I still have some there to cook with.

Another £10.85 down - red wine (cheapest I could find was £3.99) white pepper, mince, bananas & onions. The trip to So'ton won't be happening tomorrow as DD2's not very well, so that's postponed now until next week. I have £354.11 to last 3 weeks, including a re-stock of spices, noodles etc., not to mention petfood; I'm going to struggle to stay inside the budget, but I'm going to give it my best shot! And it is entirely do-able, as I can make economies of scale; I may be feeding lots of mouths (not to mention their churches!) but it does work out cheaper per person.

    Wai Yee Hong in Eastville?

    [/QUOTE]

another Bristol person here :-) I like the Friday market at Eastville too.

£1.95 on a coffee in town today, breakfast was eggs and mushrooms, lunch leftover pasta, dinner is oven chips and reduced small chicken type thing I can't spell or pronounce. There is loads of food in the freezer we need to get through before I can defrost it.
Today was improved by my son's birthday present he has just cashed in - 12 cookies from some shop we have never been to in town before. We both feel slightly sick!
  • Superdrug £1.00 on razors for DD1

M and S £1.60 on vegan jellies (mixed up meerkat are to die for!)
Work again £2.15 app.for bread and bananas last night

GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July ££110.46/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. One person vegan household with occasional visitors)

Oh I know that feeling, milasavesmoney! I've resorted to stealth cheese - one packet placed obviously in the fridge, and one hidden

I do this too. I put my 'hidden' foods in the only kitchen cupboard that nobody else looks in- the cleaning cupboard :rotfl: I have hidden loads in there, and nobody ever looks!
  • Did my weekly shop in Lid!s £30.18 and then a couple of bits in the local co0p when we went in to book next spring holiday £3 so £33.18 to add to the total. I know it's early days but I do feel as if I have got the handle on this now. Before I was lumping everything together including personal spending and wondering why I couldn't keep to budget. Separating one from the other is definitely better for me. I am even thinking twice about spending from the personal budget before I spend. If only I could learn to think 3 times I may have cracked it.
All that clutter used to be money

£10.45 on weekly vegbox. Discovered OH isn't taking enough salad and veg from our box and has been buying more which has led to me binning things over the last few weeks .

In my book any food thrown away is a crime so have written a list so he can see how much money is going straight in the bin.

  • I'm going to merge my eating out with my food bill,
I've spent £122.66 on eating out (we went away for the weekend, my auntie came to visit, my sister came to visit.....) out of a £100 for the month budget.
Groceries I've still got £198 left out of a £250 budget and no need to shop for a while.

So, my new groceries/eating out budget is £350 for the month
    I think this works out?
250 original groceries budget +100=350 new groceries/eating out budget
52 spent on groceries +122 spent on eating out =172
350-172=178 - so I have £178 of the combined groceries/eating out budget left for the month
