Ooh, what cheese did you get?
I have a delivery of Nutcrafter cheeses coming today, nearly two weeks after ordering them! Luckily was in last months budget and already paid for though, as very expensive! They are so good though...I thoroughly recommend the "Indulgent" - it's a fresh chevre style "cheese" with chives... really tangy and delicious!

I got a couple of packs of MozzaRisella - the blue cheese one and smoked one - haven't used them yet - planning on using them on homemade pizza - plus I bought Cheezly Red which was in the shop - not too bad.

Do people include takeaways? We're planning on a chinese tomorrow :o

I include any takeaways and food/drinks bought when out and about, as I want to know what I'm actually spending, but I don't include meals out with friends - that comes under entertainment. Some people allocate a separate budget for takeaways - it's your budget so you can really manage it how it works best for you.

I spent £1.20 on reduced naan bread, mostly eating out of freezer and stores. Trying to see how long I can go.

Need to venture to the shops today for some more pack up bits for my other half who is still working overtime. He's in his third week of it and he's shattered, so might have to get him some apple pie to shake him from his zombie state. Aiming for a spend of £8 or less today.

I did have 2 separate budgets for eating out (inc. takeaways) and groceries but I think I'm going to merge them. I'll see how it goes this month.
Currently I'm doing really well on groceries but badly on eating out - mostly because it's the summer holidays and we have had visitors and done day trips. There is only so much packed lunch you can pack on a hot day that will be ok for dinner too.

I ALWAYS find I spend more on additions than on main ingredients though. Fruit juice, biscuits, brands we like..

Same here, it's the snacks that add up in our house and cost the most. I can make meals for dirt cheap, but find that making your own snacks can add up to be really expensive too if you make them yourself.

    Hi everyone,

Budgets list updated to here :)

    Welcome/welcome back to:
Matody, WantToBeSE, guccigoo, Gipsy_Danger and LelleUK :D

    Good luck to all.

With regards to meal planning - I loathe this, but knuckled down this month to do a whole month's worth. Sabotaged though as DD has had friends to tea practically every day this last week - I don't mind as they are nice kids but 500g salmon will not stretch to 6 as steaks (especially as 3 are teens and DH has a huge appetite) so last night I had to change tack and cooked breaded cod. Will use the salmon tonight as fish pie if this happens again!

Hi all, going shopping for my first shop of August , managed to get a £50.00 sainsburys gift card for £44.00 via Zeek and have £15.00 worth of sainsburys gift card for free from bounts. That will cover my shopping this week.

Have also had a code from muscle foods for 5kg of chicken breasts for £19.00 ordered 10kg as son is into body building and eats at least 2 breasts per day min.

Current amount left after spends so far is: £103.44 but I also have £30 odd gift card for M&S as back up Will be visiting also once sainsburys gift cards are used up.

Hope you are all having a wonderful August and enjoying the sun.

  • Morning all...Have been AWOL since my last post.
    Life being life.
Anyway - over the past week & a bit spent £46.27 on staples, ice cream from al*i and store cupboard items.
    Sig updated.
I like some some of the recipes on cooking on a bootstrap...just need to start tying them out now.

Still jealous of those who get YS bargains - don't have them my local Morries or Mr S, which i don't think is fair at all, but that is life and i just have to be a bit more inventive about where i go to shop.

  • Just seem to be at the shops every 5 mins, think it's the school holidays fault.

£46.42 at Aldi £24.54 at Co-op and £20.60 at Iceland in the last few days, I have very little fresh veg left.

Will need to dust of my meal planner as your all suggesting, I usually find everyone moans for the first few days but soon gets on board and start making sure that the next days food is out the freezer. That's one of my biggest downfalls remembering to take something out the freezer the night before and usually lead to a last minute dash to the shops.
