  • Was earlier told by the hotel that our booking was still on their system and to call back on Monday when the reservations lady was there. However, just thought i'd double check our booking was secure and have just phoned the hotel again, only to be told our room has now gone! No other availablility there at all. Flights have been confirmed by Ryanair that they are valid but this now means I have 4 flights and no accomodation. Any advice?

Start looking for another hotel, or see if your original hotel is available by other agents?

Your Ryanair flights will be non-refundable, and the contract was direct between you and Ryanair (all LCH did was book the flights for you using your credit card details). Your accommodation booking (although booked on the same site at the same time) is a separate contract, as laid out in the T&Cs at the time of booking with LCH.

You could perhaps try the hotel again to confirm your room is definitely gone and there's no availability (you seem to be getting mixed messages there?).

Book something else ASAP, then sort out a claim via travel insurance or card provider but get on the case of an alternative hotel now.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

Normally you would check in online using the LCH 'Manage my Booking' section - obviously this is not available now. I have had nothing directly from Ryanair regarding the booking. I have given them the last 4 numbers of the card I paid LCH for the flights but they are saying that is wrong so will not let me access the flight details online. I asked what else I could do as I had paid for the flights and they had the money. They then terminated the live chat and I am back in the system in a 40 minute queue.

You can access a booking on the Ryanair website with the following:

    - Reservation number and email address
    - reservation number and credit card
    - Flight details - date, route, and email address

Will none of these things work? Is there nothing in your communications from LCH with a Ryanair reservation number?

If it doesn't there must be a way to get the reservation out of Ryanair once you get to speak to them...

One more thought... did Ryanair bill you directly for your flights? If so some airlines put the reservation number on the credit card statement

I only have the reservation number. I have not received anything direct from Ryanair. They have rejected my email address and credit card number so I presume LCH paid/emailed and that's the reference they have.

I am currently stuck at number 16 in the live chat queue (waited an hour to get there) so I think they've gone home for the day. The last person said they was nothing they could do as I didn't have the correct security details. I replied there has to be something as I had paid and they have confirmed the flight is booked in our names. They then ended the live chat - It was Mafabi in case anyone from Ryanair is reading...

edit - I've tried the website direct - no luck.

You need to speak to your card provider. Starting a chargeback on a debit card is no guarantee you will get any money back. All your bank can do is try to get the money from LC bank. They can only do that if there is money there to be recovered. There is going to be a very, very long string of creditors.

What chargeback can be used for?

Importantly, as it's asking for money back from the supplier's bank, not the supplier itself, the money should come back even if the retailer has gone bust — though this isn't guaranteed. If a transaction hasn't been completed properly, the onus is on your bank to get the money back and you should get a refund.

Some possible reasons for claiming a chargeback are:
Company goes into administration – the company you purchased from has gone bust.
Quality of item – the goods were not as described or were defective.
Non-delivery – the goods were not received as promised.
Technical issue – expired authorisation or a processing error by the bank.
Clerical error – being charged multiple times or being billed for the incorrect amount.
Fraud – you have been the victim of fraud and did not authorise the purchase.

At least there is a chance

Try an LCH e mail address.

I had flight details emailed to me when I made my booking back in April. I can still access them by the flight companies websites (I even booked some extras on the flight after booking). I'm assuming that they are still ok.

I've tried to contact the companies fo absolute confirmation (Monarch outgoing/Jet2 return). Monarch must be swamped with the Turkey situations so I'm going to try them again tomorrow. I'm got nothing from the number on the Jet2 website all day. I have been using 0333 300 0042 - does anybody have a different number?

I'm thinking that my plan of action is:

Confirm the flights. If they have gone, start the debit card chargeback process for the full amount
Contact the hotel - if the booking is still ok (not very likely I know) then no worries
If the booking has gone, try to re-book in the same accommodation. I have alternative accommodation booked with free cancellation. If the price has jumped up ridiculously I'll take that.
If the booking has gone, start the debit card chargeback process for the cost of the room.

    Make sense?
