To the person and I suspect there may be many more, who booked through Teletext Holidays (Truly Travel), if you have an ATOL Certificate you are fully protected and it is their responsibility to rebook and pay for the accommodation. The problem of course is that they are a UK company with an Indian call centre who may not have been told anything and certainly won't understand an ATOL certificate.

So long as the Certificate says Flight Plus or Package Holiday in the bottom right hand corner Truly Travel have to sort it out. I would advise you send an email which may reach their HQ in Harrow, this may be the first time they have got caught, but at least you should be protected unlike those who booked with Low Cost directly

Absolutely this. Never had a great experience in dealing with Teletext's call centre
  • I have booked a holiday with low cost but via last minute.com. Last minute have taken my money but not low cost directly. Does last minute have any liability here? Flights seem to be ok, but cant get any news on hotel.

Hotel have confirmed that room isn't paid for. They are charging more to rebook (although I will call back on Monday when manager is in).

Hoppa is also now charging double what I paid originally for them to do the same transfer...

Making extra money out of this is pretty low,

At least Santander have said they will refund my debit card transaction up to amount paid so will mitigate loss.

My lad had an email late last night from Hoppa cancelling his booking but offering him 30% discount if he rebooked it
Have you just tried to do a fresh booking ? Like with most things holiday related they are more expensive the nearer the time you go
    Have a nice day :)

Does anybody have a phone number for Jet2 Holidays please? Their 0800 website number is now out of service.

    Thanks

It is 0800 408 0778 - good luck. Really feel for everyone trying to sort this out

I didn't even think about the impact for the hotels in this, but it appears that not only are they not being paid by LCH for future stays, they may also not have been paid for recent stays - so their losses could be huge.
Try to see it from their point of view; they are also going to be in a state of uncertainty around future bookings, so you can't really blame them for not holding these unpaid reservations & selling the rooms. They may actually be very relieved to have these bookings confirmed! So the best thing may be to contact the hotel directly, and confirm you do still want the reservation. The hotel may or may not honour the original price agreed with LCH.

Not just hotels, also other intermediaries from whom LowCost were buying. They will almost certainly owe large amounts to many of them, sums which will dwarf any losses many individual hotels might suffer.

A friend is currently on holiday in Switzerland, in a hotel booked and paid for in advance with Co-op Travel (without flights - these were booked separately elsewhere and are unaffected).

His contract apparently says it is with Co-op Travel themselves, but the hotel are saying that an intermediary has gone into administration and they haven't been paid, so they want him to pay the bill. We suspect the intermediary may be part of lowcostholidays but this is not entirely clear: matters are confused by the involvement of yet another intermediary in between, called JacTravel, although there doesn't seem to be any suggestion they are in trouble.)

Anyone know if it is true that the Co-op (perhaps indirectly) use lowcostholidays? Or has another subcontractor gone under? I presume since his contract is actually with the Co-op in this case, he'll have a cast iron claim against them to recover anything extra he ends up having to pay out?

JacTravel is not in financial difficulty AFAIK, though it's possible LowCost owes them a lot of money.

"I have started chargeback with natwest visa"

I paid with a NatWest Visa DEBIT Card, is this something I can do please?
Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.
That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Any chance you could share the process you went through?
  • You need to speak to your card provider. Starting a chargeback on a debit card is no guarantee you will get any money back. All your bank can do is try to get the money from LC bank. They can only do that if there is money there to be recovered. There is going to be a very, very long string of creditors.

It'll depend on how the particular bank deals with chargebacks
They don't need to get the money back from LCH in order to pay you.
I got £895 back from Smile Visa Debit Card when Autoquake went bust as payment for the extended warranty I now didn't have, long before the company had been liquidated.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

Ok so I booked last October to go to Portugal this September. I paid for the flights with AMEX.

Ryanair have confirmed (via Livechat) that the booking is 'complete' I can't access the flights online as I don't have the correct security details apparently -phone number and last 4 numbers of card.

Normally you would check in online using the LCH 'Manage my Booking' section - obviously this is not available now. I have had nothing directly from Ryanair regarding the booking. I have given them the last 4 numbers of the card I paid LCH for the flights but they are saying that is wrong so will not let me access the flight details online. I asked what else I could do as I had paid for the flights and they had the money. They then terminated the live chat and I am back in the system in a 40 minute queue.

I paid for the accommodation and transfers 6 weeks ago using a debit card. I rang First Direct who were very helpful and have sent me a declaration to complete. Hoppa have already emailed stating my transfer is cancelled but have given ma a 30% discount code to rebook.
