I have still nothing from Nationwide original claim went in on 18/07 and subsequently all supplementary evidence has been submitted

Someone posted a while back that Nationwide were waiting on Visa to confirm that all claims would be met. I assume they want to be 100% sure of the money being available so they will not need to reverse any payments,

Maybe do a search on people who have posted about Nationwide and send them a message? If it's been longer than a week and you have heard nothing, give them a quick ring to see if anything has changed.
  • I started on 16th July with PayPal..I suggest anyone who has paid through PayPal follow this process
Private message paypal through Facebook and then message them in their wall regarding your message.
They should get the ball rolling.

Good luck everyone and thanks to all on the forum who have helped us keep positivem

First Direct, N4t4lie. We were told last week that we are 'high up' on their list. Day 23 for us too! Good to hear that others of you on here are finally getting results.

    OK another update from Nationwide...

Spoke to the complaints team who were mildly more helpful...

Basically they have said that at this moment in time they are not refunding anyone affected by the lowcostholidays collapse who paid via a Visa Debit.

I was told this was because of two reasons:

    1) Whilst they acknowledge that other banks are refunding they point out that this could only be temporarily and they do not want to refund and then have to reclaim funds at a later date.

    2) They are waiting for Visa to make a decision as to whether consumers are covered by their guarantees.

Basically it seems to me like Nationwide don't want to refund people until they are happy they can claim the money back off Visa (I assume banks have some kind of agreement/ insurance to cover things like this.)

I was told they are gathering evidence and the only option was to wait.

    Anyone else heard this?

If everyone that put in a claim gets a result within two months, then by reclaim standards that's really quick. I fought for a refund on a bodged kitchen for 18 months, so this is really fast as far as I'm concerned.

Check it weekly for updates till it comes back, no news at least means it's not been rejected.

My PayPal claim was escalated on the 15th I think. My name starts with a K so I don't think it is an alphabetical process. I did chase them on Twitter. I put in for whole amount and got back everything but flights. I hope that helps

    By holiday date?

I take it you haven't taken yours yet? If so when do you go? Just taking wild guesses as to how they are being assigned now for something to do.
