Good news for us. Originally paid by debit card and thought I'd lost my money. But thanks to MSE I thought I'd give charge back a go. I called my bank, Bank of Scotland, on the weekend after LCH went bust and after a wait of around 50 minutes was able to speak to an adviser who took my details and asked that I email proof of expenditure and details of the holiday to them. This I did but after 3 weeks I had not heard anything so called again. I got the impression my original application had been lost but after a short call I was given another ref number and told I'd contacted within 2 weeks. Well much to my surprise and delight on checking my account a couple of days later I found that a full refund had been made! Hat's off to BoS and more so MSE. I did not have to write to the bank, everything was done by email and phone. I had already rebooked the holiday and the transfers so getting the refund is an added bonus!0

Refund has appeared in PayPal account at half past ten in the evening!
Came good on their Buyer Guarantee in the end, thank you PayPal and thanks again to MSE for all the help along the way :T:rotfl:

Brilliant news, N4t4lie! Lots of positive stories now coming through for those who paid with PayPal - let's hope that those of us with banks (who are still dragging their feet) are successful too. I need to become more patient!
I certainly need to think carefully in future about how to pay for large purchases to avoid this happening again. Curious as to who has had the greatest success - PayPal, chargeback or section 75?????0 -

I have spoken to Barclays today and they seem to think a full refund via chargeback will be processed by 18th August (even though I only requested a partial chargeback for the hotel and transfers). My question is what happens to the Thomas Cook flights LCH actually paid for - do I now need to pay for these again?0

Hi everyone
Good to see refunds being processed for people. Has anyone heard from Halifax? I paid via debit card and launched by claim on 16th July and keep getting fobbed off by being told to wait 10 days every time I phone up. Starting to lose faith in them.
I've had the full amount transferred into my account, including the flight costs (which are still booked). Now just waiting to see if it gets disputed and whether they will take the flight money back...... :think:0 -
Hi,
Firstly congrats on your refund still waiting for Barlcays. Did you pay in two hits for the holiday? As in XX hundred deposit that included the full price for the flights and then later the balance which included Hotel etc?
Did you request a specific amount to be refunded eg the balance that was for the Hotel when you applied for chargeback?
If you are intending to still use the flights I would advise that you speak to the airline not worth the risk.
The airline were paid in full for the flights when you either paid in full (one payment) or when you paid the deposit initially.
Worst case scenario is that the airline will request that you repay for the flights - but as you got it refunded back thats ok. Best case is that they may say 'no need' as the payment is safe in which case you are quids in. The bank may request it back as if you you do use the flights as it is not 'services not received' but how will they know?
Like you I have requested an amount of £2,200 in chargeback from Barclays which was our balance for the hotel which was not paid for. We still intend to use the flights (next week) and if we get that before thenamount back I will be contacting the airline to be on the safe side.
Best of luck.
