I think if we can achieve something tangible like getting maybe mr.Martin lewis involved that would push PayPal.
I tweeted him but no response
I believe Martin`s on a break from here until September .
  • Not sure if it helps but my refund from Barclays was circa £300 (cost of the hotel). Luckily flights and transfers I had booked direct with the airlines and taxis.
ours is close to £3000 doubt they'll give that back

Hi, just to let you know my PayPal refund was authorised today. I'm getting back everything except the flight costs. They are doing them, it just is taking time.
  • Hi can I ask when you started ur claim with PayPal as I was one of the first I opened mine on 16th and it was escalated the same day.
  • I am coming late to this issue as i have just found out this morning that my daughter and friends booked with LowCost via Lastminute.com for their holiday.

My question is simple, LowCost Holiday is not ATOL registered but Lastminute.com is, as the broker who took the money for a package holiday can a claim be made against Lastminute? I have seen from their website that they are trying to simply pass on the T&Cs but this seems to breach basic ATOL conditions. Can anyone clarify please?

    Thanks
    Alex

Last Minute are clear they only acted as an advertising conduit and have nothing whatsoever to do with Low Cost bookings. Unless there is an ATOL Certificate issued by Last Minute, there is no claim against them. A warning to others to 'Look before you Book'
  • Hey
    Congratulations on the issue.
Are you able to provide a screenshot of your refund please with your details blurred.
Im using them as evidence to PayPal so they can stop fobbing us off

Did you make a claim for the whole amount or just for the hotel part?? At the time I made my claim I didn't no the flights were secure so I made a claim for the whole amount? Since then I have told them my flights are secure

Here is an extract Natalie ..
    PayPal
7.96 PayPal is an online payments system: purchases may be made either by
transferring funds to a PayPal account which they can use to fund later
payments, or by using a credit or debit card to fund the purchase using PayPal as
    a payment intermediary
. Where a consumer simply makes a purchase using their
card through PayPal it will also be protected by chargeback.
7.97 Consumers who pay for goods using funds in their PayPal account
    are protected
    by PayPal Buyer Protection.

This operates much like chargeback. If an order
does not arrive, or significantly differs from its description, PayPal may reimburse
the purchaser with the full cost of purchase and paid delivery costs. Purchasers
must open a dispute within 180 days of the date of payment
    33
    and then must
escalate the dispute to a claim within 20 days of opening it.
(Which we all have done ) Lets see where this goes .
...Hi Richard..Very interesting reading this....And as I paid for my deposit on my holiday through Paypal ..Which is linked to my RBS Mastercard ..It would indeed infer that I can make a chargeback via RBS..However I was asking about this method of reclaiming on the consumer forum, and got this reply.......

If you initiate a chargeback against Paypal and succeed Paypal will simply take the money out of your Paypal account.

If there are no funds available this will leave your account with a negative balance hence Paypal will eventually chase you for the money.

If there are funds in the Paypal account Paypal will be happy and you will be screwed as there is no way Paypal will refund you.
Paypal do not like chargebacks as there is little they can do against them except make a lot of noise.

They do not care one iota whether you are in the right or wrong as you will,
no doubt, find out your self should you enter into kind of communication with them..?? all really confusing...Anyone any ideas??

Make sure you do not have funds in your Paypal account

If you succeed with a valid chargeback, they can make all the noise they want but I can't see them being able to make you pay the money back to them.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.
