Lowcostholidays collapses – your rights as 140,000 hit by travel chaos

...It's the actual waiting and not knowing that annoys me..They have been very poor at keeping people informed as to the actual process ..I was originally promised a definite 100% sure refund after ten days..when I originally spoke to a rep....This then suddenly went out of the window..with no tangible explanation as to why....And no end date being offered...My Bank has refunded the bulk of my Holiday balance via Chargeback..It's the £500 deposit via paypal I am waiting for now...0

OK another update from Nationwide...
Spoke to the complaints team who were mildly more helpful...
Basically they have said that at this moment in time they are not refunding anyone affected by the lowcostholidays collapse who paid via a Visa Debit.
I was told this was because of two reasons:
1) Whilst they acknowledge that other banks are refunding they point out that this could only be temporarily and they do not want to refund and then have to reclaim funds at a later date.
2) They are waiting for Visa to make a decision as to whether consumers are covered by their guarantees.
Basically it seems to me like Nationwide don't want to refund people until they are happy they can claim the money back off Visa (I assume banks have some kind of agreement/ insurance to cover things like this.)
I was told they are gathering evidence and the only option was to wait.
Anyone else heard this?0 -
Hello everyone.
Paid through PayPal for package holiday.
Put claim on 16th July and still haven't heard any updates.
Spoke to an advisor today on paypal customer service and was told by a rep that it's a specific department which is dealing with them
Got through and this gentleman informed me that they are waiting on someone from a higher office to release guidelines on what to do.
According to him PayPal have not issued any refunds so far relating to Lowcostholidays and people reporting that paypal has refunded them are false.
Now if only someone kind enough can provide a screenshot or copy of their claim being refunded by paypal that would be great as then we can go back to them and say here you go.
He mentioned there is no time frame for it and no cases have been decided.0 -

Some of that makes sense and im only assuming ,but perhaps those that have been paid by Paypal only 2 that i can think of ,there money will be in a temporary hold until whichever card provider Visa or MasterCard finally authorizes it but we need some clarity now as consumers are getting to many different answers .0 -
ANYONE WITH A PAYPAL CLAIM SHOULD CALL AND APPLY PRESSURE.
I have been doing this virtually every day. Its an 0800 free phone number. Nothing to lose
I highly recommend calling them so they eventually give in and refund us.0 -
