We proceeded to ask how much it would cost for a full week all inclusive to see if we could still go and just claim the rest of the money back. The hotel replied saying that they don't do all inclusive at this hotel, but we booked the holiday as all inclusive as that was what it was advertised as through Lowcost holidays.

I don't think that makes any difference to your claim...you paid £x for accommodation and you do not have a booking so you will hopefully receive £x back via your card company if that is the route you are taking.
Is your question related to travel insurance or something else? As you can see from this thread there are many people that are not going to receive what they paid for
If you want AI and the hotel does not offer it, can you look for alternative accommodation

We had been told by Paypal that we would receive a full refund for our Lowcost holiday booking within 10 days of making the claim. This didn't happen. I phoned after 12 days to be told its going to take longer because they are dealing with the administrators. Still not refunded. Has anyone received a refund from Paypal? I'm getting concerned they will try to back out of this. We need our money back to re book a holiday.

In the same situation, PayPal are checking the validity of all claims. They told me all valid claims will be paid, but could take some time to get through them all as they all need checking by a real person. Looks like a claim is definitely valid if you are within the 180 days and paid LCH in full in one payment. Have a look in their T&Cs. It's sadly not as easy at it would first appear. Also I can see why they are checking individual cases as you could be in the 180 days and have actually taken the holiday and might be trying it on.

There is a thread on the bottom of the main MSE page about refunds you might want to read, lots of useful comments on Paypal refunds as the conversation has been in full flow today.

Does anyone have a number I can call NatWest on please?

I submitted a chargeback claim 2 weeks ago and I've heard nothing yet.
Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.
That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

    Hi All,

I booked my hotel through lowcostholidays and I just found out my reservations was cancelled and does not exists on the hotel's system.

I am based in Mexico City and paid a with a Credit Card my holidays in Riviera Maya.

    Any advice ?

Can you reclaim the money from your credit card company? I know we can in the UK. If you can, do that and then rebook a hotel that's probably your best option.
  • It was more a query to see if there was anything else we could do as surely it's some kind of fraud that they advertised a holiday that never existed?! I'm not sure if there is anything and wondered if anyone had come across the same scenario? I'm currently looking at other options for hotels and AI isn't essential it's just frustrating that we were never going to get AI even if we did end up going on the holiday.

Under normal circumstances you'd probably have been able to take them to trading standards for misadvertising, but alas now there is no one to take to task about it.

Look at at the positive here, you have found out before the holiday and can rebook an actual inclusive hotel.

Yes, mine was just confirmed yesterday though not shown up in CC account yet; said up to 5 days for that.
Mine was confirmed on the 11th day after my claim and the funds appeared in my credit card account on the 12th day, so really pleased and impressed with PayPal.
  • has any body else heard that lowcost were paying flight suppliers than a few weks later telling them to cancel the bookings and claiming the money paid back but not telling there customers we paid for flights on the 9th march 2016 and after contacting thomas cook were told there was no flights as they had been cancelled did not even have a record of our names

An agent, like a direct customer, can't claim the money back by cancelling a paid for flight, unless the ticket is refundable. Thomas Cook tickets are non refundable, as are most tickets agents sell.
